Basecamp Lodge Canmore

Great little breakfast. Loved not having a room key but a code. Very clean.

Parking was tight. Shower only had half glass so was spraying out in the bathroom.

The location is great (20 minute drive to Banff, lots of restaurants and stores nearby) and it’s maintained very well. The rooms were pretty clean. There was a bit of noise from the trains but not enough to bother us. The dry sauna was good as well. The breakfast basket they provide is very useful for hikes and keeps you on the go, until you find a breakfast place to eat.

Could pay a bit more attention on cleanliness. There was some hair in the shower that was present before we got the room. There was a kitchen available with kettle and microwave, but not bowls/plates/utensils.

The Basecamp Lodge is a perfect homebase for when you're exploring the Nationalparks around all day. It's definitely cheaper than the places available in Banff and just requires 20 min more driving time. What we particularly appreciated was the small breakfast basket and the coffee machine in the room for full flexibility in the morning. You can even get the breakfast basket to go if you want to leave very early. The staff was very nice and helpful! We haven't spent much time in the room, but overall it was really comfortable and great to rest after a long day outside. We would stay here again.

We did not dislike anything, the only things to mention are: The area around the hotel was just okay, nothing special, there are plenty of food options and a small convenience store. And the train tracks run right behind the hotel, but if you keep the windows closed you can barely hear it though and the hotel offers free ear plugs!

Would have liked to be able to use the hot tub in the resort side of the facility Found out why there were ear plugs in the bathroom. Other customers fighting and yelling and slamming doors that rattled the whole building at 3 am Lamp shades on lamps would be better. The design aesthetics of no shades is fun but not really practical. I did not like that the room rate changed for each day I was not informed as the whether or not I was reimbursed the $150 damage deposit or not.

Close to everything, comfortable beds, very friendly and helpful front desk, really nice sauna, Loved that they used a local brand from downtown for hand soap, shampoo ,conditioner ,body wash for you to try in the bathroom it made us go into town to look for the business, the bagel shop next door was cute and tasty close walk. If in Canada again we would stay here

The parking is very tight around the building, so if you have an suv or truck its hard to park and you'll worry about hitting other cars or the building.

Staff was pleasant and accommodating to our needs. Our room had a shower but my daughter had a cast on her hand and couldn’t shower so they moved us to a room with a tub! This made a world of difference for her to be able to relax! Breakfast package was perfect for us to grab and eat on the go! Also loved the wood accents in the rooms. One wall was stained wood giving a cottage type feel :)

As with most hotels they pre authorized for damages but it took over a week to remove the hold to make those funds available again. Most people this might not be a problem but when you are traveling on a budget a $150 hold made things stressful for us.

Spacious room, huge comfortable bed

The military-like approach to check in and check out process. Damage deposit of CAD 150 demanded! Strict policy on check in time. Email arrived early on morning of checkout, already hassling us to check out at 8am despite the 11am checkout time stated in the booking conditions. No personal customer service at all. Everything is done by email with door codes which are strictly time operated. It felt very impersonal and transactional. We did not feel like a valued customer. The air con/ heating was very noisy. We are unlikely to stay here again.

For the money value.....this is your best bet. A steal of a deal! Everything about this place, feels like your staying inside a $200/night hotel room. I stayed in a single king bed room, it was great. It is a perfect, perfect place to stay for a couple of nights.

In no way would I say that these are negatives, but things to note: 1) I love my hearty breakfasts, the breakfasts here are basic. 2) Parking (can) be pretty tight and congested. But again, it's not a big deal Again, these are not really negatives. I for sure would stay at Basecamp again!

The location was perfect. Within walking distance of the town, and a few walking trails. Several food options, all within walking distance. The rooms are cozy, well lit, and met our expectations.

Staff is friendly, but didn't have good communication. We mentioned checking out really early for a flight, and asked for Togo breakfast. The message was never passed along. More information up front for whether you are staying in the lodge versus the resort. They are right next to each other, but different rooms.

I and my partner liked the staff who work at Basecamp - they were very friendly and helpful with any request or question. It was our second stay here and we would come back again. Breakfast was good, served in baskets, and you pick it up in the morning. The best is attending a sauna after a long day in the mountains. We definitely recommend Basecamp.

The only thing I can think of is using glass mags instead of plastic/paper cups (if you are in the suite room, you have all glassware, but in the king room you get only 2 glass cups).
