New Haus by Hougoumont Hotel, former Bannister 22

Excellent location and staff who were extra customer focused - in particular the young man who took care of breakfast clean up and fill up each morning of depleted breakfast food ( eg berries),

Our room wasn't refreshed till after 3,30-4.0pm - so disappointing as we are elderly ( 76 AND 77) . My husband had to go to reception and ask for our room to be cleaned and have fresh towels provided as the cleaners still hadn't been despite us leaving the room at 10.00am. At 3,30 my husband wanted a rest before having a shower and meeting friends for drinks- when the cleaners came they were very surly - not very pleasant. Also would have been good to have an additional bin in the bed room - so annoying having to go back into the bathroom every time we wanted to put something in the bin. Most hotel suites have 2 bins - one in the bathroom and one in the bedroom.

Smallish unit with secure entry across the road from the Hougoumont. Small lounge area with sink and microwave walk through to ensuited bedroom. Bedroom and bathroom small but serviceable. Very comfy bed and lounge pretty good as well. Inclusive continental breakfast across the road at Hougoumont - coffee/tea, youghurt and nut/granola mix and bread/jam. Staff monitor coffee machines beans/milk and restock food well. Handwritten greeting on mirror (as per practice at Hougoumont across the road) is a nice personal touch. Check in staff very helpful in minding luggage after checkout.

Showing some signs of age (painting, cracking etc) and in need of a few basic maintenance items for attention (e.g. rattly shower door handle etc). Limited ceiling lighting but OK. 2 of 3 switches in the gang on entry to bedroom seemed to do nothing with lights. Single split system AC in lounge. Room faced west and bedroom could get hot in summer I suspect. Windows had been left slightly open on arrival to help but was still warm until AC cranked in. Not really up to standard for the cost paid but was an event weekend and was all we could find in the locality we wanted.

Only stayed 1 night but very happy with our experience. Right from check-in we were made to feel welcome. The aircon was already on when we arrived to our room which was a nice touch. We have stayed in many Fremantle hotels over the years and so many are worn out, noisy and overpriced, not so here. The room was comfortable and came with a coffee pod and some nice tea's. Large TV with plenty of free channels to watch. Most important, we didn't really hear other guests apart from a few wardrobe door slams here and there. Breakfast was great with some really nice breads and healthy muesli options. Will stay again anytime.

Great location, a bit noisy with the bar next door but nothing ear plugs didn't fix. Room was alot bigger than expected. Great location. Easy and quick walk with luggage from train station - I got the train from the airport. Close to bars, restaurants, cafes. Easy walk to Little Creatures, Fremantle Markets and Quay for cruises along Swan River and Rottnest island. Also easy walk to IGA. Would happily stay here again

Could not work out coffee machine or air conditioner. On first use of pod coffee machine I found it replaced the following day by room attendant, so figured it was faulty. Tried the new machine and another fail. It would be beneficial to have instructions. Its been a long time since i used a pod machine and what might seem simple/obvious to some, is not to others. The room was quite hot and I had to put on the a/c. I could not find how to switch from heating to cooling. The first night I put up with heat.I couldn't open windows because of the noise/music from bar next door (across road).Second night, I'd had enough and I had to Google the make and model which was frustrating.

Everything. Reception staff were friendly and quickly got me into a room, even though I arrived early. Room was spacious and well appointed. Bed was comfortable, bathroom was roomy. The free drink at the next-door Bar was an unexpected treat. Continental breakfast was really good and served in a spacious foyer adorned with pictures and information of earlier times in Fremantle. The Manager made a point of speaking with us, just to confirm we were happy with the room and facilities

Our visit could not have been better.

We had a three night break here in April 2023. We picked the location as it was in the epicenter of Fremantle, just 30m off the Cappuccino strip. Having said that, the location was surprisingly quiet, although we could just hear some distant, but unobtrusive music at night. This 30 room hotel was modern and spacious. Our room had a huge bed, a living room with sofa and kitchenette, and a large balcony. The facilities were excellent. My wife especially liked the in house soap, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion- she thought it was good quality. I liked the coffee machine. Although I brought some pods, we never ran out of the ones the hotel supplied. There is also plenty of storage and hanging space.

Only down side is there is not much street parking on Bannister St, even for drop offs. I would suggest you use the hotels parking ( I think you may need to pre book), or get dropped off by a ride sharing car- they always seem to find somewhere to pull up!

Location was central to everything I wanted or needed. The room was comfortable and inviting, loved the coffee machine. The beds were super comfy but pillows were great for sitting up watching tv or reading.

the only thing I would have liked was a lid for the bin but that's minor. The pillows were too fat for me sleeping wise but didn't affect me that much. I would have loved a decaf tea option for the end of day - but once again, that's not a big thing.

Loved the location the staff and the bed was the best most comfortable bed ever. Spotlessly clean. We had room 3 with separate lounge kitchen big balcony and super king bed..

Coffee machine No toaster had a microwave, kettle and fridge but no kitchenette to speak of considering it was like an apartment a kitchenette would make it better for longer stays. We booked 5 days only stayed 2 nights as we got covid and we had to leave. The hotel would only give 1 night compensation. So make sure your covered for covid when booking.

The location was fantastic. Lovely balcony and room. The staff (located at the hotel opposite) were incredible helpful and responsive. The balcony had lovely views of the old hotel rooftop bar and beautiful sunset skies. We would stay here again, but perhaps not as a family needing to cook and have children sleeping in the next room.

The kitchen facilities were very basic - we had to ask for enough cutlery and crockery for our family of four. No table or chairs to sit at. We chose this hotel as we are a family of four with two young children and there was a separate bedroom. Unfortunately the adjoining door was frosted glass so the light from the living room disturbed the children. Also the sofa bed which made up the extra bed was very uncomfortable. Apart from these two factors it was a great place to stay.

Room was very clean, tastefully appointed and the bed was very comfortable. No bells and whistles but that's just what we wanted. Location in the heart of Fremantle was wonderful yet still very quiet. We only stayed 1 night, but everything was just as we needed.

We paid $30to securely park our hire car. The car park was very very tight, rather precarious to get the vehicle (a Rav4) in and out. And the room key was required to exit the car park. Luckily one of our party had theirs as the others had left theirs in the room with our very early departure.
