Blue Shades Motel

The staff at Blue Shades Motel were really friendly. The process to check in and check out was simple and quick. The room I stayed in was a great size. It was really helpful having a kettle and microwave in the little kitchen area. The bed was quite comfortable. I was in a room right at the back so it was nice and quiet. There were people next door but I couldn't hear them once in the room. The location is very central. Easy to get to grocery stores or shopping centres quickly.

The bathroom has a shower over a small bath so if you struggle stepping up over the edge of the bath just double check what your room will be like. Also the driveway to get between the front and back sections is very narrow. Larger cars do fit but it's a tight squeeze to maneuver into the carparks.

Always a pleasure staying at Blue Shades - it is our preferred hotel whenever we are working onsite in Maryborough. Staff were extremely helpful when I advised ahead of time that I'd be arriving late at night and they organised afterhours key pickup. We love their lamb-cutlet meal. Meals avail Mon-Thu. I really liked the bedside USB charging sockets, saved me having to grab the 240v chargers out of the bags. Shower nice and hot. Free Wifi excellent for videocalling home and seeing my family. Management at front counter were very helpful. Cleaning staff were also extremely courteous and friendly. Its the people that make the stay enjoyable when working away from home and will be staying there again in a few days.

I loved 99% of this stay. You will like it here! The 1% - I couldn't get my room #4 TV remote to do subtitles, I rely on subtitles to avoid turning my tv up to a volume that might impact neighbours (or maybe I need to press a combo of buttons, not sure). But its not a deal-breaker at all. I have already booked to stay here again, very happy to stay here and see the wonderful staff!

This motel was a pleasant place to stay. My room was nice, the staff were very welcoming and overall I would use this motel again next time I visit this town. The room was tidy and didn't feel cramped. The beds were the right level of comfortable for me, firm enough that you can get out of them, but soft enough that I wasn't feeling stiff in the morning. The bathroom shower was good - quick to warm up and good pressure. I know its a little bit trivial but I feel like its an unrated concern for travel until you notice it. The reception staff was polite and provided answers to any concerns I had during my stay. I certainly appreciated their adherence to current health and safety measures (mask wearing and offering hand sanitizer).

The only aspect of the room I am reluctant to add is I was slightly bothered by was noise levels coming from outside the room in the early evening. However, the room does come with a thick blind to block out the lights of cars, so I wouldn't call this a negative at all, but aspect to this type of motel to consider.

amazing friendly staff. great sized, comfortable units! Executive rooms have an amazing desk and comfortable office chair for those who need to do some work. Bedroom perfectly positioned for a full blackout.

the car park, especially for the executive units is a nightmare, especially if you have a bigger vehicle. easy to make a mistake and have your car or someone else’s property damaged or scratched. people can smoke right outside your door so if you aren’t a smoker you may be forced to smell someone else’s.

We needed a comfortable, handy location & value for money accommodation, Blue Shades was an excellent option for our group & we will be returning, i also plan to take my wife there, for some of our own accommodation requirements, Good Pub just across the road & easy stroll to most things, thank you.

There wasn't much to complain about, perhaps Bigger vehicles would struggle in some areas.

The host was very friendly and welcoming. The only issue is the car park is very narrow and tight especially with a big Ute. The neighbouring unit also sat on the very small deck on Saturday night until midnight and were very noisy and their friend used our carpark for the night. Minor issue but annoying

Modern room looks reasonably new, comfortable. Very clean, quiet very roomy, lounge and plenty of bench space throughly room including bathroom. Great Western hotel across the road very good generous meals. Motel has own restaurant but we didn’t use this time only because we had already eating smelt good.

Bed a bit soft.

The location was handy with a hotel/restaurant across the road, Aldi within walking distance and several take out food options nearby. We stayed at the weekend so needed these options

No signage for swimming pool. Did it even exist? I know we could have asked if needed it. Wifi wasn't offered at check in but willingly given on request after settling into our room.

The lady in the office was absolutely amazing! So lovely, the room was very clean, smelt fresh, had the air con on before we got there so it was nice and cool for us, beds were super comfortable! Over all a great experience especially for someone who just travelled 15 hours and needed a break

Staff were exceptional. So friendly and accommodating. The place was extremely clean. The linen and towels were crisp, clean and fresh

The family room is quite dated. It needs some TLC. The downstairs curtains were dirty and too big for the window. Even just changing those would make a huge difference.
