Mineral Sands Motel

The Manager, Matthew was very friendly and helpful. The Motel is older style, maintained well. There was a good shower with plenty of hot water and good air con.

Maintenance was being carried out on the wifi which effected our TV reception right at prime time which was a bit disappointing ( a 1 off) and smoking laws in NSW for Motels and BnB's require smoking to be only off the property. Apparently in Qld you can smoke outside the room, which a few people did and the smell of smoke wafted into our room during the night. ( Not the Motels fault) Otherwise a comfortable stay.

Mineral Sands Motel is within easy walking distance to fast food outlets, Aldi, Station Square shopping centre and Bunnings, to name a few. Although it's situated on one of the main streets, we didn't hear any traffic during our stay. The room had cutlery and crockery which is unusual for a motel, but was definitely appreciated by us. There was plenty of bench space. The bed was comfortable and there was a lounge chair in the room.

The legs of the chairs are rather thin and make it difficult to move the chair backwards when someone is trying to get up off the chair as the feet dig into the carpet due to being small. My partner has a few health issues which prevent him from being able to sleep right through the night and the lounge chair was a bonus, however it was a bit low for someone with mobility issues- I do understand though, that the room was not listed as a room for the disabled.

The lady at reception was very friendly. She contacted us prior to our arrival to ensure that she would be there to greet us when we eventually arrived. She gave us some fruit to eat when we arrived and showed us how to use the washer and drier in the laundry. We liked the balcony with table and chairs that were available for our use. The motel was within walking distance of the town and shops.

There was some traffic noise but this was a minor concern.

The place was clean and roomy and had everything that we needed for our stay.

The beds were very hard. Everything was turned off, including the fridge so it took us a little while to work out that we had to go around and turn all the power points on to make things work. Plus there was no remote for the second TV

The room was a generous size, we had a king bed, en-suite, and basic food heating facilities. Breakfast is continental style, delivered the night before, there is a good selection, the portion is generous and hearty and a good start the new day. We were late in Booking, and had a late arrival time, and Management were very proactive in contacting us to ensure that we were still on our way as planned, offering directions if we needed them. on Arrival they were very warm, friendly, understanding, efficient, and helpful, and went out of their way to advise us of the local facilities, restaurants etc. The King bed was comfortable, and the room laid out reasonably well with bench top spaces for food preparation, and a desk for working, there were adequate numbers of well placed power points for laptops and phone charging etc - whilst we were somewhat confused by the double power point in the middle of the headboard, i suppose it is equally useful for each of the two side tables. There was some initial road noise, but it dissipated at a reasonable time, and the room was generally quiet, although we did experience noise from adjacent rooms as early leavers got up and moved around. They appear to cater for short and long stays, and there appeared to be a number of guests of each type, giving it a more "lived in" feel, the accommodation is spread over two stories, and there are tables and chairs in the corridor outside each room, making it intrusive to have to carry bags and things through other peoples' discussions. The public areas and our room were absolutely spotless, clean, and tidy, and we spotted no cobwebs in out of the way corners, so kudos to the team for that. The showers delivered more than sufficient water pressure and hot water. Tomas remembered our names as we checked out, and it is the little courtesies like these that can make an interaction so much more warm and friendly, and start the day so much more positively. All in all, very good hosts.

We must have had an "old" information pack, as the wi-fi password was out of date - very quickly and easily rectified by management when we let them know, and they were also more than helpful, even after the office officially closed at 9pm. The advertised Foxtel and netflix facilities were more difficult to locate than we had patience for - we still don't know whether they were available or not, but as all we wanted was a single night stop-over on a long journey, it was of little issue. We were initially worried about the distinct and obvious road noise, but it disappeared by 10pm, so all was good. People in adjacent rooms moving around at 5.30 was enough to disturb us, but these are the realities of such accommodation, so not really a negative.

Staff were accommodating for us. We turned up with a van, and pets. There were construction crew staff staying there also who had taken up the carpark, so staff had to try and help us work around this at 9pm at night. He was great. Much appreciated!

Lovely staff. Exceptionally clean. Continental breakfast was more than enough - didn't need to eat until dinner that day. King sized bed is always a big big plus for us. Local Aldi less than a block's walk away; good for snack foods & frozen meals (easy traveller dinner - room had microwave). Very easy check-in process, even during Covid19 (recent greater Brisbane lockdown travel dates). Off-street parking a bonus.

Little noisy - however no fault of motel / staff. Hoons seemed to like using the road out front as a burnout pad. Bathroom was suitable but a little pokey. Overall great room for what we paid.

Staff checking in and out were exceptional. Lovely person. Breakfast was efficient and plenty. Very clean room and option of hard and soft pillows. Lovely.

The noise of the road and the walls were a bit thin. Lady there obviously with issues yelling and swearing next to our room. Talking to herself. Made it a little uncomfortable but other than that, really good stay and lovely manager

Clean solid older motel in excellent condition. Fairly close to town centre. Good parking area, easy entry and exit. Great friendly staff.

Small amount of traffic noise but not too bad.

Lovely room. Was offered a better bed lay out on arrival Rooms great Nice and quiet. Lady called to say we had left things. We will be back. Thankyou.
