Melia Zanzibar

One day the water in the shower smelled like poop, i told the reseption, a guy came and tasted the water and said it was fine. But i was -not- but it was good the other days. Execpt that everything was -very- good!

Location - beautiful white sandy beach. Wear booties as there is a lot of sea urchins if you venture far out to sea. Restaurants- staff were accommodating, friendly and polite. Make sure to carry your cellphone as you need to use their app in order to order. Theme nights were indulgent and enjoyable. Make sure to check the menus each night as the restaurants change up the offerings. Staff- Special mention to the ffg people:- Daudi (the boss) Goodluck (mocktails), Cyprian (delicious omelettes), Ramadhan (pasta master), Zawadi (mamma misses you), Fabian (concerning), Neema (always welcoming), Khamis (teaching us Bao Game- we're addicted), Rwiji (brand master), Josephine (cleaned our room), Hasan, Halfan, Ramla, Ziada, Rahima and Cecilia. Facilities- beautifully maintained grounds, swimming pool etc Transport- they had a cart that took you all around the resort.

Our room was not properly inspected, had a musty smell, which dampened our spirit on the first day. Needless to say we were moved to another room and was perfectly happy thereafter. Reception staff are not as welcoming as service staff. They were also not as forthcoming in terms of informing us about the activities, services etc. It rained a few hours in the morning and staff failed to inform us about alternate activities or should perhaps have organized activities. The guide doing the village and cave tours not very interested or knowledgeable.

We arrived to Melia from Paje (from small boutique hotel) and we were overwhelmed with customer service level and location of the hotel. Super safe if you are coming with small kids and just want to relax - great food, beautiful infinity pool with kids section, great beach (the ride to the beach is fun). Staff is super friendly with awesome energy. Every dinner there was performance that we enjoyed, kids loved cartoons under stars outdoor. Tasty cocktails and lot's of activities and areas to walk around to keep kids busy. The family room we stayed in was huge with nice garden view and massive bathroom. In general this hotel made our holidays, big thanks to all the STAFF - you guys are awesome!!! Hakuna Matata :)

I Loved the breakfast! Good options and varieties! Dinner was great also! We enjoyed Gabi Beach! Clean! I loved the caesar salad at Gabi Beach! 😜

I think Lunch options could be made better. The selection of fish also was so scarce. It was mostly Dorado & Tuna at the Jetty Lounge! For Zanzibar, we could definitely have more right?

The location of the hotel and the views are breathtaking. The whole resort was very nice however the staff was helpful.

I had cockroaches in my room and when they changed it I had them again in the other room.

The Beach, Friendly Staff. Melia Zanzibar is a beautiful resort, however, for the price charged rooms needs to be of a better standard. We have also requested for an airport pickup, which was confirmed bu the hotel. When we arrived no driver was waiting for us in the airport. hotel number wasn’t working!

Quality of Food, breakfast needs to have more variety. Rooms need refurbishment

The staff were excellent, as was the food. Very chilled, great beach/Jetty resturant. Definitely a place to come an relax.

We arrived at 4am, very tired after a long flight. Initially the hotel wasnt what we expected, but we soon adapted to it.

Absolutely stunning - authentic and built to suit the natural environment with a lot of focus on sustainability and ethical practice. It is a vast campus that can be navigated on foot and also by buggy. The staff were absolutely incredible. They made me feel like I was family and that I had always been a part of them. They made my birthday and engagement celebrations absolutely perfect. I would like to particularly thank Daniele the Chef at The Jetty, Paul - chief of staff, Mary - housekeeping with the best towel and decorative art, Omar, Magdalena, Prosper, Witness, Valeria, Farida, Hamid, Damila (incredible massage), Rashid (great driver who took us to see the turtle sanctuary), Lilian and Hamisi. My fiancée and I can’t wait to return and are recommending so many others to go.

Absolutely nothing - it was perfect

The Jetty bar was marvelous and the staff were friendly with good food and the rooms are spacious and beautiful

The breakfast was more like the same all the time and lacked sea foods

Staff favoured white guests over black ones, that could be my only issue.
