Hotel Montana Zürich

It is really close to the train station which also has good on the go food options beneath it, the breakfast was simple but a good start and a nice inclusion, the rooms are warm and WiFi is free. The street was a little noisy outside but it was Easter time. The reception staff booked our airport transfer when we checked out which was great. it's a short walk to get into old town. It's quite a small and a little quaint hotel with only around 4 stories. It's a really beautiful city to visit. We hired the free city bikes for an afternoon and also used the trains.

The check in time had no flexibility. We arrived on a 6.30am flight and would have loved the option of checking in. However it was extremely strict as it was a digital check in that absolutely could not be started until 2pm. This meant a lot of people were standing around to be checked in right at 2pm which seemed strange.

Please re-open the check in counter. Self check in was causing problems and not at all welcoming.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was a decent size, plenty of storage space and beds were comfortable. Room had a safe which was very useful. Buffet breakfast was amazing. Best scrambled eggs ever! Location was brilliant. Close to main Zurich railway station, coach park, local trams and only 10 minutes walk to the old town. Also close to one or two restaurants and supermarkets. It was very hot during our stay but, because the hotel is on a quiet street, there were no issues leaving the window open at night.

The only issue we had was that housekeeping started early, and if you were still in your room when the cleaners knocked on the door they would go away but, as happened one day, they wouldn`t necessarily come back later. That`s about it to be honest. It was a very enjoyable stay.

Very good sized room and well equipped. Excellent safe, which was very easy to use (unlike some), good to have a kettle, good wardrobe space, both hanging and shelves. Nice desk. Lovely to have a bath as well as a shower. Comfortable bed. Excellent location very close to the main station and easy to get everywhere I wanted to go by walking, tram and train. Good selection of food for breakfast, including hot food. I especially liked the rice. Good modern lift, which was fast. (I needed it as I was on the 5th floor.)

Lighting in the room could have been better as no direct overhead light when in bed but the lamp on the desk could be used for reading. I had a problem with no hot water in shower/bath one day. I reported it but it was the same next morning. I reported it again and then it was fixed but it did mean I couldn't shower on two mornings.

It's a 5 minute walk from Zurich Hb station. Nice decor throughout the hotel. Staff at reception and in restaurant were very helpful. Liked the welcoming foyer atmosphere and music. Self checkin and easy checkout, all you do is hand in your room key and that's it. Liked the Dyson cool air stand available. Very close to the water, station, tram, landesmuseum, restaurants.

My room was on the main street which is noisy a lot of the time if window is open. . It was warm but ended up using the cool air option in room. I had a couple of minor issues which I raised with the manager and left those to be dealt with.

The location of this hotel was fantastic----basically a 2min walk to the train station (you have access to the entire station and all platforms easily via the "back" part of the Bahnhof. Because it was so near the Bahnhof, supermarkets and shopping areas were also very near, and there's even a small grocery at the end of the road. The room was very small, but it was clean, had a comfortable bed, a kettle, a hairdryer, and a clean bathroom (with a tub even). The breakfast was also nice with enough bread/pastries, sweets, dairy and cold cuts, drinks, and warm items (eggs, sausages, bacon, and even some rice). For the amount that we paid for a room near the train station with breakfast, this was truly a great deal for an expensive city like Zürich. Check-in was quick and easy (especially if you do the online pre-check-in, as you'll just have to scan a QR code, and you get to create your own key cards.

The only big problem we saw was that if guests had a big piece of luggage or multiple bags, it would be a pretty tight room. Otherwise, nothing to complain about.

hotel is 8 minutes walk to Zurich Bahnhof, flat surface. also 10 minute walk to Bahnhofstrasse and another 5 minutes to Old Town area. we arrived well before check in time and was able to use the luggage store room rather than lockers at the station. Breakfast was very good with a wide selection.

with contactless reception it can be somewhat impersonal although a staff member was available to assist if needed. previous visit 4 years ago the reception was manned by staff and they welcomed you into the hotel. some of the power cords to bed lamps were not plugged in and this was annoying as the bed had to be moved to find the electric unit. the plug on the kettle was not compatible with the electric socket. fortunately we had an adaptor which fixed the problem Suggest hotel management do a thorough check of all rooms to ensure all plugs and lamps are fitted and are working.

There are so many positives about our stay at the Hotel Montana Zurich. Firstly the reception staff were exceptional. They were friendly and helpful and always went out of their way to assist and make sure our stay was enjoyable and trouble free. I hope the management will pass on our thanks to them. The location is excellent. Literally less than 5 minutes after getting off the train we were in the hotel. A 15-20 minute enjoyable walk took you to the old town and Lake Zurich. Our room was a very good size and clean. Breakfast was comprehensive and tasty. Our train didn't leave until 10pm on the day we checked out but staff allowed us to keep our bags at the hotel which was very much appreciated. Would have no hesitation in booking again if visiting Zurich in the future.

The rooms are very warm and there is no air conditioning. A fan is provided which isn't enough to cool the room down. However we had the fan on a chair at the side of the bed blowing across us and we had a decent night's sleep.

The room was comfy had a coffee machine had a walk-in shower. It had a great choice of breakfast it is close to the station if you come out of the right exit, the key card you have to do it yourself it is okay if you have done it before but when you have been travelling for 12hrs and it 22hrs all you want is your bed

We had a kettle, but it wouldn't fit in any sockets, and the lead was too short. If it did, there was no milk for tea, but tea bags .no air conditioning, but fans supplied one of the breakfast tables had ants all over it, which everyone avoided there was staff on duty to point to the consol to get your key card and sign
