Eiger Lodge Easy

For a hostel, an amazing buffet breakfast! Fresh ingedrients and much choice. Staff were very helpful and kind.

I can only tell from the room I was in, but the doormitory was not that great. Hardly any ventilation with smelly hiking shoes and sweat being prevalent. The top bed had no protection barrier from falling and was almost against the ceiling.

The room had a view of the Eiger mountain... Whole area was really clean including the washrooms and showers. The bar is also good though it is only open till 10pm. It was really convenient to reach here just get off at Grindelwald Terminal (one stop before Bahnhof) and then it's a 5 mins walk. You also get a Grindelwald city pass with which you can travel in the bus without any cost.

Nothing really... Maybe more toilets on the first floor? There was only one on the first floor (or I could find only one). Usually I had to go in the basement area to use the toilet. Oh and one of the bedside lamps was not working. But no major issues. Really a lovely place to stay.

Breakfast was extensive & plentiful. Apples & coffee were available to help yourself throughout the day. The Bar & Grill next door had good dinners & drinks at reasonable prices. Eiger Lodge has a free billiards table & lots of lounge space. We were able to store our luggage both before check-in & after checkout. The location is right beside the train station & the Eiger Express gondola. The guest card offered local discounts & complimentary local bus travel. Although we had a double room with shared facilities, there was a hand basin in the room.

Bath towels were not supplied.

- location: great location close to Grindelwald terminal - WiFi: WiFi was good - Bed: comfortable - Shower: shared bathroom facilities were clean and always available. Never had to wait. - Other facilities: shared communal area had microwave available for heating up food if needed. No fridge. - Noise: quiet, did not disturb us - Luggage storage: happy to hold our luggage prior to check in - Cleanliness: property and facilities were clean and well maintained. - Breakfast: included in price which we were grateful for. However, very simple breakfast and not much available.

- Ease of access: no lifts to get to room one floor up, otherwise fine - Warmth/cool: no fan or aircon in room. A bit warm at night even with windows open in June. - Check in: Long line to check in. It took about 30 mins, despite having completed the online check in process prior to speed it up.

After having been to France and Italy, this little lodge in Switzerland was a TREAT. The cleanliness itself is already a blessing, and the water pressure is 10/10. Staff is friendly and breakfast is always something to look forward to. Great value, accessible, nice fat hostel cat to top off the experience.

Rooms were a little small for the 6 mix-bed, and it was on a "basement" floor (but also ground floor depending on how you enter). Didn't particularly enjoy people smoking 24/7 right outside, but I suppose that's traveling in Europe.

The breakfast was superb and it's wonderful. The only think I could say is I was hoping it could have some changes. I actually stayed there for 5 nights and all breakfast were the same. It doesn't matter how good the breakfast is, after 5 days it's kind of getting old. The location is great because it is very close to the bus terminal and train station. It's very easy for you to get to anywhere. The room is good but there are more room to improve. There is a washing sink inside the room but I was hoping also a toilet which would be perfect.

There was no cooking facilities at the hostel. There was only two electric pots to boil hot water and one microwave. There are so many people waiting in line to use these. The worst was there was no stove at all to cook upon. Moreover, there was no cups at the kitchen area so even if I want to have a cup of hot tea I could only boil hot water but no cups. At the upstair there are plenty of cups but no hot water. It's a bit difficult to just to have a cup of tea there.

The location is super convenient, just a few mins walk from the Grindelwald Terminal or Grindelwald Grund. They provide you with a card on arrival which you can use to freely avail the bus services. The location is also very beautiful and surrounded by beautiful mountains. The staff is super helpful, the lady helped us plan on what we can do and suggested great places. The breakfast was good, the standard items. The rooms were also decent.

Cooking facilities in the common kitchen area should be provided. It would be very useful. You do have utensils and the facility to heat water and food.

Breakfast was delicious and had a great selection (and vegan/vegetarian options too). The staff were incredible helpful, and gave us great suggestions for hikes to do. The room was comfy and the hostel was quiet. The location was great as the bus stop was just outside and we were right next to the train station, which was convenient. The lodge’s restaurant was also good for a quick cheap eat. Also seemed to have lots of communal areas, pool table, etc if you wanted things to do.

our room was near a road so that was a bit loud if you had the window open. Room was a bit stuffy if the window was closed.

The breakfast was varied and the staff was very friendly! Especially the male staff in the breakfast room was very helpful when we were unsure of how to use the coffee machine. The hotel was next to the terminal station, so it was very convenient for sightseeing. (This was very helpful since we had small children and an elderly mother).

Toilets, shower rooms, refrigerators, kettles, etc. were also in the basement, so it was a little difficult to go down the stairs every time. There is a sign in the women's shower room (changing area ) that says shoes are not allowed, but I was concerned that everyone ignored the sign and went in with their shoes on. I would like to see a bigger sign on the door (such as a red X on a giant shoe) so everyone can see the sign.

The hostel is located a short walk from Grindelwald Terminal station, and a short 15-20 minute walk into town. Immediately outside the hostel is the cable car that takes you to the Jungfraujoch cable car. Theres also a small Coop supermarket inside the station. I stayed in a 6 bed dorm which was comfortable, it had lockers (need a 5 CHF coin which you get back), and a sink. There’s washing facilities (5CHF for wash & 5 for dry). The breakfast was amazing, truly excellent start to the day before hiking etc. Staff were great & very helpful. the Bar & Grill was open on my final night and it served tasty food and drink. Keep in mind the check in time is when reception desk opens! So if you turn up at 1, expect to wait around for a couple hours.
