Hotel Restaurant Goldener Schlüssel

An historical building in the central area , clean and apparently recently refurbished. despite the visible age of the interiors, everything is well kept and the efforts for keeping it at high level of cleaning and welcoming is evident. super gentle the person at the reception. Outside the area is very quiet, no traffic being practically in a pedestrian area. Private parking on the back of the hotel itself but not easy to find since to reach it it seems to enter in the pedestrian area (don’t park in the squares in the front, you have to pay, just turn around the hotel for the free park). the bed with metal structure and surrounding tents is old style but very comfortable. available coffee machine on the second floor with wide choice of coffees and tea. a nice bar with some tables welcomes you for relax and a good beer.

The hotel is ancient and the wooden structure are largely present (doors, stairs, floors,…). this makes historical but sometimes even a little noisy and the door is not perfectly isolating noises coming from the floors. The presence of the smoking room at the ground floor makes the smokers happy but the smell is going all around. luckily, restaurant and breakfast are at the first floor …

This is a small and quite old hotel, in the center of Altdorf, that is well maintained, clean, and has friendly and helpful staff. The location is perfect in the center of the town, with direct access to restaurants, shops, and historic places. Very clean rooms. Good breakfast. Reasonably priced.

Really good overall for a short stay. There is nothing "fancy" in the hotel, but I was not expecting it.

The location was perfect! We fell in love with Altdorf, Uri and Switzerland! Despite being an older building, the apartment was very clean. It was quite spacious for our family of 6. The hotel is located in the main square of the town. 10 second walk to gelato, 30 seconds to a grocery store..all so convenient. We walked everywhere including to a couple of easy hikes near the hotel up the hill. The kitchen had everything we needed and had plenty of linens. The room service was a plus. Unfortunately, we didn’t try the restaurant but we did try a couple of local spot, which were great. If we return to Uri (which is inevitable), we will absolutely stay here again!

The floors creaked a little bit when you walked but this wasn’t too big of an issue.

Very nice hotel in the center of Altdorf. The staff is very friendly and ready to help. The quality of the products served at breakfast is really good.

Great location for exploring this part of Switzerland. Lots of spacious parking. Very helpful staff.

No AC but we had a fan and kept the windows open.

The hotel is in general old. The soundproofing is very light. The mattress might be better.

Parking was very close around the back of the property, the staff were nice and the room was big and spacious. Breakfast had a wide variety of choices.

well if anything: the placement of the electric outlets was a bit off. Directly above the head (bed) isn't that good for a healthy sleep -> but it was easy to rearrange the bed to solve this little problem.

Beds and bathroom were comfortable, wifi was fine, location is amazing. Good parking and decent breakfast/facilities.

It was great, the only downside for us was the light in the bathroom constantly shutting off by itself, but this was just a minor nuisance that's probably fixed by now and won't annoy anyone else.

Nice hotel in the village centre and Easy to reach

The restaurant of the hotel was closed during our stay. Nothing was mentioned on booking.com or on the hotel website!
