Gasthaus Platten

The view from this hotel is quite amazing. The room was decent size and beds were comfortable. It's an awesome experience to stay here and see how amazing it is to live in Switzerland on a house half-way up the side of a mountain.

The hotel is half-way up the mountain, so driving there on a very small road (enough to fit one car) was a little hectic and scary. But once you reached the hotel, the view from there is quite amazing. There was no Air Conditioning in the room, so we had to open the windows, but the windows didn't have screens. If there was a lot of mosquitos, then that would be a major issue. The night that we stayed (8/10/2023) was not so hot, so I only had to open one window.

We loved the location and views from our rooms, even though it was raining when we git there. The rooms very very clean, all facilities provided and comfortable beds. The breakfast was excellent. We did not manage to eat at the restaurant as it was not open, however the recommended Restaurant Trauber was excellent. The road up was exciting.

Please be aware that the road up to the hotel from the lake side is single track and pretty steep. Don't let that put you off, just be careful. It's well worth it!

Everything was clean, the views in the morning on the terrace are amazing, just like in the photos. The rooms were spacey and they had almost everything you could want except AC and insect net at the windows. The hosts were very nice even if we didn't get to interact much, helpful and happy, they even gave us some very very good strawberries in the last day, right before we left.

You need a car to get to the location (in my opinion), especially if you have big luggage. As mentioned previously, the rooms we got didn't have AC (didn't need it but maybe in the summer, it will get hot) and no insect net. We kept the windows closed due to this but it's not the biggest issue in the world. Our room had a "faulty" shower door, the water leaked a lot the first time. After that, we figured out how to prevent it but basically just showered into one direction, avoiding the door. The good part is that we had an extra towel to clean with so it was a one-night problem.

The Staff was exceptional. Very hospitable and catering. Felt like family. The room was spacious and clean. Larger showers then most hotels I've been to in the country. The view is mind blowing. Good food and beverages. A nice place to sit outside and relax after traveling to different nearby towns.

The hotel is way up on a steep incline if you miss the last bus you gotta hike it. One thing to keep in mind if you have disabilities. The bus seemed unpredictable in the evening in gersau. But the amazing lady/Angel at the hotel actually came and scooped me up from the bus station. In her personal vehicle too! Again great staff.

The view from this place is just stunning! I came to Switzerland to see the beauty of the country side and this place just shows it all! Nice walk down a supermarket and lake (20 mins), great views from the pool and the gentleman who works in the restaurant went above and beyond for us giving us the fan from the kitchen for my baby to sleep with as it was hot for the time we were staying there!

Breakfast was ok

The staff (Marta) was extremely supportive and made our stay very comfortable! The view from the room, esp. the room with the balcony was just breathtaking!

The only public transport access to the hotel is through a bus that runs between 10am and 4:45pm, making it difficult to get to the hotel if you arrive later than 4:45pm (about 40-45 mins uphill walk, with inconsistent internet connection, making navigation a bit difficult).

Fantastic location, great terrace to take breakfast or a meal. Super kind staff and GREAT cuisine at the restaurant. Very good value for money.

the road to get there, it's feasible but a bit scary to drive through.

The location is good. Drive 2 or 3 mins you will reach the the lake. Our room with lake view and balcony is pleasant and relaxing. Staff is very kind and helpful. The restaurant is very original and also with lake view.

Sorry, I didn´t mention but i´m quite allergic to dust, during the frist night I had to clean the lampshades，headboard. The water of the shower is very easy to fall out of the shower screen. The breakfast if simple.

The view is exceptional.

You need to pay the full amount if you cancel the booking and it takes time for the reply if you reach them out. It is necessary to go there in a car because the hotel is up hill.

Beautiful older style property in the most beautiful location . Arrived in the evening after a long drive and staying just for the night . The staff were fantastic and even kept the restaurant open late for us as we arrived late due to traffic . The rooms are lovely and the views from the balcony are to die for . would definitely stay again . The food in the restaurant was fantastic .
