O Abel Hotel rural

Our stay in O Abel was our first night in Portugal. We received such a warm and friendly greeting upon arrival. We were a bit early but that was not a problem even though the staff were extemely busy in the restaurant. The room was exactly as desribed. Simple, modern and very clean. It came with a lovely breakfast and for the price I don't think one could do better. The highlight was our meal that evening. They do one thing and one thing extremely well. Steak grilled on an open fire. The whole village smelled of it! Fantastic as promised.

Clean, modern & newer hotel in the countryside. Good bkfst with fresh juice, great coffee & selection of fruits & cheeses. Room is sufficient, comfortable bed & good size bathroom. Small seating area outside. Very good wifi. Friendly & welcoming staff. O Abel restaurant is best in the area for grilled meats. We enjoyed our stay. There are nearby walks & small park & river walks.

The small garden wasn’t mowed, needed bit of care to look better. No shops nearby but plan ahead if you need to.

The check-in could be done completely online before hand what resulted very convenient. The bathroom was very nice with very comfortable shower cabin. The restaurant O Abel is at the same location resulting very convenient to have a very tasty local meal before going to rest. To our purpose (and travelling by car), the location was very convenient because it allowed us to visit not only Bragança but also the nearby villages and Montesinho Natural Park.

In one side of the bed, the mattress was sinking which caused pain in the neck in the next days. The breakfast was in general good with reasonable ammount of options. The bread with figs and nuts was very tasty but we missed eggs (e.g. scrambled).

Personal welcome from the owner! He is a real host and immediately helped us to feel welcome in what he called 'paradise'. Nice room with a HUGE bathroom. Good breakfast and a very good restaurant which was packed when we were there. Personal attention as well and more than a fair price for an excellent meal. Free and easy parking and worth to stop here and stay for at least 1 night. Close to Branganca and direct on the N218 which is very scenic road to drive along... I can confirm you will feel in paradise!!

Great rural hotel. Clean room, big bathroom, all the things one needs were there. The attached restaurant is a grill restaurant. So meat is very good, so it seemed. Not so good fro people that do not eat meat.

The desk in the room is a bit of a joke... it is more like a shelf. I made it work, but something a little bigger would be better. Access is via keypad.... no cell-phone, no easy access.!

Excellent location in a village just outside the city of Braganca. We were met and greeted on arrival by one of the owners, and he personally escorted us to our room in a new section of the hotel. Enjoyed dinner and local regional wine in the restaurant, which in spite of its huge size, and it being a Monday evening was chock-a-block full with local residents. Great value for money.

Breakfast was very basic, but for the price of the room, we could hardly expect more!

We arrived early for our room, but the restaurant was still open and although busy and near to closing they happily found us a table. The waiter was extremely helpful in translating the menu into English, the Tbone steak was tender and tasty. There was plenty to choose from for breakfast. Our room was simple, modern, clean and bed comfortable. The location was peaceful and we enjoyed a stroll along the river. Undercover parking for our motorbikes was a plus. Great value for money

the Google map address is incorrect so we had some trouble finding it. the hotel is located behind the restaurant with the same name, so we finally saw the sign for the restaurant

Easy to find, located in a nice village. Very modern hotel. Very clean. Plenty of parking. The room has a fridge !!! The restaurant on site is very good (and very popular with the locals as well) A very good breakfast.

The owner did send us a message (SMS) with the code to enter but we received it late so we had to call him in order to check in (reception is most of the time closed), but he speak English very well, no problem.
