NH Atlantic Den Haag

the highlight of the stay was a guy at the reception from a Moroccan decent (Abdel Noor or Abdel Raouf or Abdel Aziz... not sure of the name) who attended to all our needs, single handedly moved our rooms including our luggage and the extra bed, he came back later to give us cold water and 2 fans as we were disappointed that the rooms had no AC. he was sent to us any time we needed anything and he did it with a smile. kudos to him. I would hire him in my hotel in heart beat.

Cleanliness was a main issue. we took first a room where internet didn't work, they asked us to call their provider to an international line that never answered only to discover that this room always has internet issues as it's a corner room. we changed the room. both rooms were dirty. balcony never been cleaned in ages, mini fridge disgusting from food debris from previous guests. cabinets same thing, dirty with food debris, labels of cloths, hair. when housekeeping cleaned the room they didn't empty the trash bins even. when we called to reception, they sent is a trash bag to empty the bin ourselves!

Despite ongoing construction work nearby, the hotel was quiet, well-managed, and welcoming, with excellent facilities and a lovely outlook towards the sea. I'd opted for a room with balcony/sea view and was very pleased with that; the room itself was well-fitted and comfortable. Room service for the evening meal (they do have a restaurant too) was efficient and the food was good. A nice touch in the room was the provision of a high quality guide to the area with maps, photos, and an introduction to key locations and features. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Difficult to find fault - I suppose ideally I'd have preferred not to stay next to a building site, but it wasn't obtrusive and certainly didn't detract from the hotel itself.

The staff are very responsive, helpful and friendly. The dog playing fenced area is very useful where you can take your dog and unleash him to run and play freely. The sea view is mesmerising:) also the location is very close to "coop" super market and the beach.

I cannot say that I didn't like something but I can say that it could be better if there was an airco (Air condition) in the room because the central fan is not working, but as soon as we called the front disk, they sent us a fan in a minute. Also the balcony door should have a hawk to keep it open; if you want to keep it open, you must use a chair, but we managed to tie it with a rope to keep it open :)

1- The internal pool is only for adults more than 140 m. It is not suitable for kids. 2- The pool size is small and not convenient for many families 3- It would be great when the construction finish, however it did not distribute our accommodation

The view from the room was excellent - loved it, the size of the room was excellent (Family Suite) - we were lucky though as we faced Den Haag and the Dunes, if you had the family suites that face the new buildings, the view isnt as good). The decor of the room is a bit 1980's though and could do with a update, but the swivel TV, the Wifi, the shower, the kitchenette were all great. There is free parking very close by as well, the bus into Den Haag is very regular and stops nearly outside and the access to the beach and the beach cafe's is excellent (literally less than 100m) - you cant get closer. The pool area was good, although the pool is 1.4m deep all the way across, so not ideal for young kids that can't swim well or need help. It was a shame the Steam Room was closed. Breakfasts were good, the staff were very helpful. If you have a room with a kitchenette, there is a small supermarket over the road in the new shopping area that you can stock up on, or there is a Jumbo supermarket within a mile walk. If you have young kids, I did end up barricading the balcony as the family suites are on the higher floors and its a big old drop from the balcony. It was very easy to climb out of the 'adult area' of the suite window onto the balcony if you wanted to take in the views a bit more.

Steam Room could have been open/repaired quicker. Need a better 'tea' selection - if you are from the UK and like your standard tea - then bring some tea-bags - its all Earl Grey, Fruit or speciality teas.

The hotel is close is on the amazing beach of Kijkduin, which was partly visible from our room. The room was very big and comfortable, as it two comfortably arrange two king beds and a supplemental one. As it is generally the case i NH hotels, breakfast was very rich and varied. I have particularly enjoyed the freshly prepared omelette.

Perhaps the building deserves/needs to be revamped.

Our family love this hotel. My dog ​​and I try to visit the hotel at least once every few months. The hotel has very friendly staff, they love dogs., There is a beach for dogs. Beautiful sea view, delicious continental breakfast and buffet. Near a variety of restaurants, supermarket, bus stop to go to the city center. We will return to this hotel again for sure.

+ Perfect location at the beach + restaurants and supermarket next to the hotel + balcony with the view to the sea + very nice bathroom with good and comfortable equipment + very comfortable bed and mattress + dark curtain to ensure a good sleep + seating area, nespresso coffee machine, microwave oven…

- construction work is next to the hotel and starts earlier than 7:30 in the morning

Room was spacious, clean, beds very comfy, nice view of the ocean. Very good location. Outside the hotel looks like it needs renovation, but inside the room was very good.

Breakfast - Decaf coffee only instant:-( Given 2nd floor for the upgrade - we would have liked a higher level room, but no option - the staff was not friendly.

All rooms have balconies with small table and 2 chairs. The north-facing rooms face the sea while the west-facing rooms have afternoon and evening sun. The tea/coffee making facilities, microwave and small fridge in the family room was useful. If you don´t like the selection of teas they provided just ask at breakfast if you can choose some others. The steam room with eucalyptus-scented steam, dry sauna and swimming pool with a mural of the vast sandy beach outside makes it feel like you are swimming in the sea. Situated right on the beach with many wind-sheltered bars and eateries nearby. Bike rental, normal or e-bikes for 7.50 EUR for 4 hrs or 15 EUR for whole day. Easy trips on the parallel cycle paths (fietser pad) along the dunes up to Scheveningen (nice harbour) or down to the Hoek of Holland where you can watch the world´s largest ships across the Maas estuary sailing to and from Rotterdam. The staff at reception are very helpful and will print out your air tickets and other documents if you send an email with attachments to them (special email address). During these Corona times, the hotel has sittings for breakfast at 7.00, 8.00, 9.00 and 10.00 to avoid the crush. You need to put your preference on a list at reception the night before. Spoedtest, the Dutch covid testing organisation, conveniently has an office in the hotel, and you receive your results and certificate by email within 24 hrs.

Perhaps the crows´ droppings on the balcony are a little annoying and the smell of fish and chips wafting up from the stands nearby, but it isn´t a big deal...
