Crowne Plaza Maastricht, an IHG Hotel

We like this hotel and have stayed several times before. We always find the staff very friendly and helpful. We always have an executive room which is quiet and has lots of space. The location by the river, 5 minutes walk to either of the bridges to town and close to lots of restaurants is quite excellent. The buffet breakfast is good but not as good as it was in 2022. The carpark is quite excellent, clean, well lit, secure and with direct access into the hotel.

The room is getting a bit tired and would benefit from refurbishment and replacing the bath with a walk in shower. Who wants a bath these days? Breakfast not quite as good in 2022 and a lift from the carpark into the hotel would be a real benefit. Heaving heavy suitcases up and down the steep stairs is not easy when you get old.

The hotel is centrally located and near the train station. Several breakfast/lunch/dinner options nearby so we didn't do the breakfast at the hotel, as it was a bit pricey. We stayed for a conference in the hotel and lunch was provided which was very well done. Staff is friendly and the rooms are clean. Wifi works but I didn't use it much.

The hotel felt like a sauna! It was very warm everywhere, my colleagues complained it was so hot in the room at night they hardly slept. We had the window opened during the night so it was doable, but honestly they could turn down the temperature a few degrees especially with the rising gas prices.

The breakfast excellent. Orange juice could be fresh, when stayed before they used to have fresh orange juice, it never tastes right from a machine. Also better toaster could be obtained, too slow.

We thought our room could have better lighting, to be fair the weather was dull at times and rainy, so the room needed more central light.

Location was perfect

The outside bar service was slow and not up to standard. I understand service staff ( post covid ) is a global problem but one waiter ( first day on the job ) did not have a clue what Irish Coffee was so he brought a cup of coffee. No big deal but then said they had no Irish coffee. The bar last call was made moments before I arrived but the bar was full so refused to serve. Not a good way to keep hotel guests happy.

The location is great. The area is really nice to have a dinner and less tourists than the other side of the river. There are few shop nearby. The hotel offers two restaurants on the ground floor (European and Japanese food). Room with river view was really big and comfortable. Bathroom a bit old.

When we did the check in, I had to face a very “monotonous” staff. Not joyful or friendly. On the top of that, there is no staff helping you with the luggage’s. You need to deal with the trolley by yourself. Reason: COVID. Very surprising and funny for such hotel. Also never had same situation in any other hotels.

- the free upgrade to a room with a balcony. - the reception and breakfast staff were excellent. - the room was a nice temperature - parking was very convenient, accessible and secure.

- the fact that the cleaners didnt do a good job. There was a cup with lipstick on it from a previous guest. And after informing the reception we got a cup that was used also with coffee stains on them. It makes you question allot. - the bed was uncomfortable. - the bar staff took waaay to long considering how many people were at the bar at the time. - the decor of the room wasnt inviting you to stay "in" the room. - the price of the room didnt match the cleanliness

Very clean and spacious hotel. The staff were very friendly and couldn’t do enough to help. Very good location for a short walk into the centre of Maastricht. Bedrooms airy and spacious. Restaurant food was excellent. Wide choice of food for breakfast. Large secure car park.

The room, the location, the views and the staff were all amazing. Special mention to Jason, at the reception who was super accommodating to our requests for the room and made everything super easy for us travelling with a baby.

Nothing, all was fantastic.

Overall experience was very good. Rooms are spacious and clean. Friendly staff. Great location.

AC was not working. The weather was hot. They offered a fan.

The staff were very friendly and helped us with many things! Laundry of my son’s clothes and printing of documents. The food service was great, delicious, and reasonably priced.

They had a takeaway service instead of a room delivery service. It was Ok, but we need to carry a tray of food around the hotel, which can be difficult to maneuver with non-automatic doors and elevators. My soup almost went overboard when I tried to press the elevator button with one hand and hold onto the tray of food with the other hand.
