Courtyard by Marriott Penang

As you'd expect with Marriott, top class. Great room, with proper reading lights, superb view down over Penang from the 16th floor, both the pool and gym were very good too. Breakfast was extra but well worth it.

Located about 2.3km from the street art which is the dominant tourist attraction in Penang at the moment (with good reason, it's excellent). I quite liked the stroll in though (once you get used to the lack of pedestrian crossings!) You can also jump into a Grab and be driven there for about RM 10. So the location was fine for me but might not suit everyone

My spouse & I were feeling unwell on arrival. But thankful that hotel able to grant early check in around 1 pm. Also appreciated that room assigned was spacious, located on high floor with full natural daylight. The corner room is also more peaceful than those along the corridor so manage to rest well for quick recovery.

Room temperature colder than my preference - seems to be auto-set around 20.50 degree C. No matter how I tried to adjust it to 23 Degree but it kept going back to its auto setting. This setting may be perfect during the hot weather but it was cold & rainy during the time we were there.

water pressure ( rain water shower ) room no 1307 was poor despite me informing the front desk

Nice comfortable stay. For a family of 2adults and 2children the room was spacious enough. The front desk was very courteous and helpful. The room had a nice view of the bronze statue of Kek Long Si temple and the Penang hill. The plus for the location is that there is a 24 hour coin laundry in the same block (few steps away from the hotel) and a small but nice bakery for the morning breakfast. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the front desk lady who helped us to order for our dinner when we were getting late while on our way back from Cameron Highlands.

The housekeeping staff could have done a little better job by ensuring that the rooms get sweeped and mopped. However, overall it was nice and comfy stay.

I like the spaciousness of the room. The bathroom is big and well decorated. View from the room is splendid and can see the vast ocean. Check in process is fast and I managed to get the room earlier. Parking is also provided FOC.

Limited TV channels. No lights turned on at the facility deck at night time.

The rooms were all non-smoking, everything was working - lights, air conditioned, shower, taps, toilet, doors. It has multiple electric sockets and the view was fantastic. Rooms are generally clean. Bed comfortable. The hotel staff are helpful and friendly and approachable. It’s in a great location (next to Ghee Hiang mansion) - walking distance to eateries, pharmacies and city centre and you can drive to all tourists attractions and eating places nearby. Security is good too with security guards stationed at the entrance of the parking lot as well as the lobby. Facilities are great. It has a pool long enough to do a few laps and deep enough too and a nice cosy bar on the highest floor. Parking is free if you’re driving.

When i first checked into my room, the toilet bowl was a little wet and has droplets of water around the seat. I requested for the bathroom to be cleaned, which they did. The bins in the room had stains as well. Would be great if they can clean it before the arrival of each guest. The parking is very poorly lit. If unfamiliar, you can easily miss the exit. I would urge the hotel management to keep the parking bright and safe.

Everything about the hotel. The staff are all extremely friendly. Keep up the good work, Zurina and Ivan. The Penang Kitchen staff are all friendly and very humble. 1. The rooms are very clean. The showers are superb, and the pillows are so comfortable. 2. The breakfast is good, very tasty, and we look forward to it throughout our 3 nites stay. Kudos to the chefs! 3. We had our lunch and dinner at the hotel. The menu price from a la carte is reasonably cheap compared to other hotels. And again, the hotel serves excellent food! 3. We were surprised that our rooms were cleaned by housekeeping after we came back from breakfast. That was fast!!! 4. Ample parking space. Hope to be here again soon. Highly recommended.

The property itself was clean and very well-kept. You could feel the quality even just walking through the hallways. After the pandemic, I’ve felt very wary of hotels; I always worry whether rooms and common areas are being sanitised and regularly disinfected but I did not have those worries this time. I genuinely enjoyed my stay.

While my stay was overall very very satisfactory and I will most definitely return, there were a few downs which I feel are important to mention. Firstly, the pool was unattended. There was not a single member of staff or lifeguard. Accidents can happen and I would have expected the hotel to take at least the most basic of precautions which is to assign a staff member or lifeguard at the pool. Admittedly, this was quite shocking to me especially for a hotel under the Marriott Group. Secondly, certain members of staff could have been slightly more attentive. I will say that the staff at the reception and those who cleaned the rooms were great. The others were fine but could have been slightly better. Lastly, breakfast at Penang Kitchen was subpar in terms of flavour and overall selection.

1.The hotel is new and clean. Modern and beautiful designs. 2. The food served in their Penang Kitchen is nice especially the Chicken Chop. 3. I like the way the reservation manager Ms Ana has resolved the issue of my meal plan under my Booking.com package. Welll done Ms Ana for your exceptional service! Thank you.

1. Booking.com should standardized the promotion package with the hotel to avoid embarrassment moment to the customer. In my package in Booking.com, I was allowed to buy the meal plans at the hotel with a discounted package. However, the hotel is not in agreement with Booking.com promotion package. Hence, it has created inconvenience to the customer. 2. Requested connected room during booking as I would like my both sons to be next to us. However the hotel is unable to provide to us.
