Grand Hotel Capodimonte

This is a lovely hotel. The furnishings are lovely, the view is incredible and the environment is fantastic.

The only negative comment I have is that the staff in the restaurant were snobby. They looked down on us and we were the guests! Our first evening we had dinner in the dining room. They got upset because we didn’t order courses of food. We were not very hungry so we decided to share a few things and that made them mad! Our waiter stormed off and talked about us to the other wait staff in Italian. They were very rude. The front desk staff were all very friendly.

The view is beautiful and the balcony lovely. Excellent selection of items at the breakfast buffet. Close proximity to the town centre. Very comfy bed. Lots of beautiful spaces to sit in the many public areas. Furnished beautifully.

Bathroom is pleasing from a design perspective but not very functional. Plug for bathtub is in the middle of the tub right under the shower head and is a safety hazard for tripping or stubbing your toes. Water pressure in shower is awful. In many of the premier deluxe rooms with panoramic view, there is a VERY low beam that runs across part of the room.

The location, the views, and the staff were absolutely wonderful. The front desk was very well coming upon check-in. They were even able to reserve us a private transfer to Naples train station at departure. The restaurant food was excellent and staff super kind.

The rooms were ok. For the price we paid, I expected much nicer. Walls are paper thin. Mind you we were in a room at the end of the hall and you can hear every neighbor slamming doors down the hall, every voice, and every person upstairs above you walking, moving chairs, flushing toilets. It was like living in an apartment in college. Not what I expected from a luxury hotel.

The view is spectacular, as are the pools. It's why we booked it. The location is great to walk into town for dinner, shopping, etc. The breakfast is very lovely. It's an old-world, classic European hotel and we really enjoyed our stay. I highly recommend it.

The front desk staff is only sort of helpful. They seem very busy and rushed (as I am sure they are in high season) but could do a bit more to help with plans, directions, reservations and personalization. It was an efficient check in but lacked any real welcome. I felt like a number.

Beautiful pool and view of the city. The hotel is built into a cliff with a cascading pool down with great views. The breakfast was good and the staff do a nice job of getting you the best seat they can find without asking. Great location just outside of sorrento, we made the walk into town every day. There is also a nearby grocery store and laundromat that saved the trip.

This hotel feels a bit dated. The air conditioning was barely functioning and the room just felt sticky. There were also bugs in the common spaces due to doors being propped open frequently. It was still a great stay, but the hotel definitely shows it’s age.

We stayed in hotel Copodimonte for 1 night only on our last day in Sorrento. Hotel is gorgeous, very clean, modern with stunning views of the coast. The pool area is very impressive with plenty of pools, deck chairs and again and stunning view of the coast. We had a lovely meal by the pool during the day. Staff were very friendly and breakfast was lovely too. The hotel is within 5-10 mins walk to the town.

We stayed in a standard room. I did find the room size to be very small and the bed size also very small-more like a large single bed or a small double bed.

Hotel was spotlessly clean and well maintained. Breakfast excellent. All staff very helpful. We ate dinner on two nights of our stay - very good quality. Like the quirkiness of the hillside layout. Good location on edge of main town but within easy walking distance to all central areas.

No receipts issued for purchases made in the hotel bar or restaurant. Hotel encouraged all charges to be made to room rather than accepting payment as you go, which added to stress when checking out.

We made the resevation when, the hotel was almost full, and ended up with a room which had a view of a side yard. Otherwise, the other facilities such as restaurants or swimming pools had beautiful view of the bay of Naples.

We ended up with a room which, in essence, did not have any view at all, while were promised to have the view of the front of the hotel.

The hotel is just as stunning in person as in the photos, there are so many beautiful dining and seating areas, everything was spotless, the staff could not have been nicer, the receptionist in particular was so helpful in arranging transport back to the airport and even made us up a take away breakfast as we were flying home early! Cannot recommend this beautiful hotel enough, five minutes walk from the Main Street of the town and has stunning views of the coast.

Stunning hotel. The photos do not do it justice. The location is perfect and easy to find. 5 mins stroll from main Sorrento piazza. There is parking but it’s 25 Eur per day. The views are just incredible and this is what you are here for. Literally everywhere you look the view will take your breath away. The hotel is very well decorated and clean. We stayed in April so the weather was not conducive to using the pool and multi level terrace but would come back to sorrento and stay at this hotel in a heart beat. The pool area is beautiful. Rooms are so spacious and bathroom is lovely. Very clean. Breakfast was good and staff at reception helpful.

Minor things. The bed is hard. The room did not have slippers and bathrobe but when we asked they were provided. The area for breakfast was too small for the number of people and the staff at breakfast were clearly overwhelmed by the volume of people. Queues for the egg station and bread took a while and when you asked for tea it took ages and was always almost cold. But these are totally minor. We had a fantastic time.
