Hotel Continental Genova

This is actually a review for the neighbouring hotel (The Grand Savoia Genoa Hotel! due to being transferred from the neighbouring Continental Hotel next door who were full and transferred guests to the Grand Savoia. Everything! From the moment I arrived I felt pampered and was treated very professionally. The reception offered me an upgrade to a stunning executive room. For an additional €30. Upon entering the hotel I felt like I was sent back in time to a different era. The hotel was spotless and fresh. A very gracious serviceman helped me take my bags to my room. The prices of room services were reasonable given the nature of this 5* hotel. It was just such a perfect stay. Once in a lifetime awesomeness. I could go on all day showering this hotel with compliments. Oh the rooftop terrace with Jacuzzis was absolutely stunning with amazing views of the city. Regards, Heath

There was nothing not to like.

We cannot review Hotel Continental, because we were upgraded to Hotel Savoia which owns Hotel Continental in Genoa and is located next to it. Regarding Hotel Savoia, very helpful and hospitable staff. The hotel is a higher class with unique and baroque style. Very clean. Breakfast is served on the terrace at the top of the Hotel and has a great variety for anybody and is delicious. Parking in the garage for 25,00 EUR per day. The Hotel is next to the train station.

Before the arrival they charged us for one night to "test the card". The transaction was made directly from Hotel Savoia and not Continental without any prior notification. We were a bit shocked at the beginning because we did not know where the transaction was made from, but luckily we solved it through chat on Booking. After that they upgraded us to 5 star Hotel Savoia without any additional charge.

We were upgraded to their sister hotel next door Grand Hotel Savoia, which is an excellent hotel.

Helpful staff and first rate breakfast with large choice.

Hello Hotel Continental Savoy is situated in a suitable area, the location is close to Port and Piazza Principe Railway. The Hotel is old-style ,impressive from the entrance, very clean, with staff well prepared. The Jacuzzi , Bar and Restaurant at 7th Floor is perfect place for relaxation, enjoying top-roof city view and is open till late evening. You are max.20' walk away for the downtown Piazza De Ferrari , Aquarium and Old-Port, shopping are and a lots of other attractions, food and culture to enjoy. Thank you to Giardia from main reception and the the waiter from the 7th floor bar for their service and kindness. Don't miss Tralalero -Trattoria Genovese restaurant -simply and tasty food at acceptable price. See you again...

The hotel was very good. We really enjoyed are time. Nice and beautiful room. Very clean 👍nice staff. comfortable beds and good room service. The rooftop bar and restaurant of 5 star hotel (they are connected ) was very nice and nice view😍😍 Nice old elevator 😊 . Nice breakfast with variety of egg and hams, cakes and etc.( the only thing I missed was more variety of interesting focaccia. Good air conditioner We walked all in city center and there are many bus and train options right in front of hotel to go to boccadasse beaches or Cinque terre. The ticket is 1.5 € for 100 min or daily ticket of 4.5 (use the app)

the parking lot was about 200 meter away but costs 25€ per night ( it is pricey and not included but unfortunately it was the case in all the hotels I checked). Because it is in front of train station and in city center it was a bit noisy at night but we didn’t have a problem with closed window and air conditioner

We were upgraded to their sister hotel, the 5 star Grand Hotel Savoia. The hotel itself was beautiful, with a great rooftop bar and lovely staff. Very well located right next to the station.

Although the Grand Hotel Savoia was apparently an upgrade, the room was quite dated and felt like it could use a renovation. It was mostly clean but there was a lot of dust on the headboard above the bed, the fridge didn’t close properly, and several of the lights in the bathroom didn’t work. I think the Hotel Continental looked far more modern and recently renovated, so if I stayed again I would request to stay there instead.

Beautifully decorated, quirky hotel, conveniently located less than a few minutes away from Genova Piazza Principe train station. The staff were always lovely and I was especially grateful for the kindness of one particular lady (regretfully, I was too shy to ask for her name) who brought me a bag of ice when I sprained my ankle, and she advised on the 24hr pharmacy (right next door) for any further help. The hotel has many facilities and amenities. I'd absolutely recommend this hotel and because of it, will look out for more Planetaria hotels for future stays.

Wifi was not great.

We were welcomed by one polite and friendly receptionist, Muyang and was told that we were given free upgrade to the room in their 5 star sister hotel next door, Grand Hotel Savoia. The room is very spacious with a big bed and well equipped with all the amenities like shaver, bath salt, toothbrush etc. The hotel also provides valet parking at a fee and also walking distance to Genova Piazza Principle Station. Breakfast is fully of varieties and at the top of the hotel with a very good view.

The view of our room from the window is facing another room. We prefer a room with an open view.

This was the perfect accommodation for our day and night in Genoa before catching our train to Nice the following morning. It’s well priced and about 200 metres from the main station entrance. The hotel’s own restaurant was great for us as vegetarians and it looked like meat eaters could be well catered for too. All staff members we had any dealings with were friendly and informative. Short walks to the harbour and the older parts of Genoa helped us to enjoy what this city has to offer. We did not drive so can’t comment on what the parking arrangements may have been.

No negatives

The receptionist was professional and friendly. She spoke English and explained everything very thoroughly. They held our luggage behind the desk because we were not able to check into our room until 1400/2 pm. I believe we arrived at 12:30. They offered us ice cream and at the end they called us a taxi to pick us up to go to the airport. I would most definitely stay here again.

I loved my room, but don’t recommend 601 as it’s outside and next to the elevator. Additionally, breakfast is served in the morning on the 7th floor and I could here guest dragging their chairs across the floor.
