Grand Hôtel Thalasso & Spa

Amazing hotel in a perfect location in the charming town of St Jean de Luz. We had three rooms for our large family and everyone had a beautiful room with ocean views. The rooms were impeccably cleaned every day with fresh Nespresso coffee, waters and treats. The restaurant dinner was excellent. The staff were extremely helpful when we asked to change one room type due to a booking error on my part. Two members of our party were in their 80s and the hotel and location were perfect for their mobility challenges.

For our older family members, the hotel tub was very difficult to step into. If needed, I would recommend asking for a room that has a step in shower. Also, there are no hotel beach loungers despite being directly on the beach. We purchased beach chairs at a local shop for our parents so they could enjoy the beach.

Location was stunning but it was the staff who excelled. Nothing was to much trouble. they really were excellent

In our room on the 3rd floor the toiletries which are lovely are in containers attached to the bathroom walls. They are on a pump system which was a nightmare to work. Mid shower I had to ring housekeeping to show me what I was doing wrong. The housekeeper was delightful but she had the same problem and couldn’t get any shampoo etc out of the bottle. Within minutes she’d arrange 3 new freestanding bottles to be brought to the room . Finally a decent shower.

Property is stunning, the surroundings are breathless and so is the beach view. The two Silvias at the reception desk were courteous, helpful and friendly. The only person we found unfriendly was our sever on the patio, Batiste, he didn’t seem to want to be there serving…very unfriendly and rude, I had to have a gentleman help me open a bottle…. Overall, the friendly people made our stay very pleasant. Great rooms, nesspresso coffee, toiletries, a 5 star hotel 🥰🥰

Nice hotel right on the beach at St Jean, good swimming pool and spa.

Breakfast was very poor, made worse by one particular waitress who was unhelpful and rude. We asked to sit at a free table by the window to enjoy the sea view but were told it was reserved - no one arrived by the time breakfast finished. Coffee was cold, pancakes were cold and we were told they weren't doing more but they did when a family with lots of kids arrived later, ours were warmed in the microwave. Fresh fruit wasn't vey fresh and looked like it had been lying around for a long time. Scrambled eggs were like concrete. Croissants were good but for a breakfast costing Euro 32 pp you expect a bit more. To be fair the hotel did not chanrge for breakfast when we complained about the standard and service.

The spa was wonderful. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The three types of pillows on the bed were a nice touch, the bed was very comfortable. I enjoyed the infused waters and housemade cookies I found for free around the property and spa

The bathroom was tiny. There is barely enough room to turn around, and I'm a normal size person. Even my tiny wife said it was small. There is not much bad about this place, a few small changes would make it a better value per euro

Right on the beach, patio/seating/drinks right on the promenade. Everything clean and sparkling. very helpful staff, including a dedicated concierge. King bed, rain shower, large bathroom, coffee maker in the room, everything you could ask for. The restaurant was excellent, though being in a 5-star hotel the prices were also higher than excellent meals we’d had elsewhere. Though, our restaurant seating was ideal, looking out over the bay.

In the dinner, we asked for English menu, they said it is not available. We asked what to do in this case. The lady in charge said she can translate for us and she pointed only two dishes in the menu ( of may be hundred meals), she said this is fish and this is meat. That is all and then turned back and gone. it was like a joke. We decided to leave since we could not understand the menu. When we explained the reason to leave, she said just ok in very cold manner Airconditioning is not working

What do you expect from a perfect 5star hotel? You find it at Grand Hôtel Thalasso & Spa. From the service to park the car to room service, Spa, breakfast and beach access, all is at the highest level. You are looking for a perfect hotel for a break or holidays, you have found it!

Everything was perfect The location to the beach is great The rooms have exceptional views to the sea We were delighted to be upgraded in a suite with exceptional facilities and a fantastic terrace The restaurant offers great food, with outstanding dressings Service impeccable !

I loved everything

Our room was small but beautifully arranged and decorated. The view onto the beach and ocean was fantastic and I loved waking to the gentle sound of waves. The spa facilities are included in the price and my wife loved them.

The bar was very expensive but I guess that's what you expect in a 5-start hotel!
