This Chambre d'Hote is in an ancient building in a pedestrian area near the river. It is a really special stay, full of character features. The breakfast (included in the price) was delicious, fresh juice, fruit, pastries, a loaf of bread, ham, cheese and lovely tea and coffee. The host gave us lots of information, then left us to do our own thing. Highly recommended. Gaillac is one of the loveliest villages we visited in France.

Nothing.

We have stayed here before and would certainly return again. A warm welcome from our hosts. Lovely apero offered on arrival: melon, wine or water. A superb breakfast. In addition to the en suite bedroom you have access to the hosts' dining room where you can relax. All of Gaillac's historical attractions and restaurants are within walking distance. No air-conditioning but since the building is several centuries old, it always felt cool. Parking is within 100 yards from the house but walking from the house is quite steep. The building and its historical location in the town is unique . The value for money is outstanding.

Duly welcomed by the son of the owner; a darling young man who took care of my needs upon arrival - I was even given an ample snack, and wine to warm my weary traveler bones. As I had imagined, having seen the photos on the internet prior to booking, the house and it’s outbuildings are just as described. A beautifully restored 13th century Manor House which is tucked away in a cobbled stoned street. The outer facade is as it should be with a few necessary adjustments...an historian’s delight. My quarters, as you will see in the photo, prove to be a real step back in time...with of course some practical modern features. The owners have set out to make the stay as comfortable as possible. There is bottled water in the room and ample shower products are provided. Outside the room is a quaint garden area with two strategically planted trees and a seating arrangement. I can imagine it’s a joyous place to relax in warmer weather. The breakfast and TV room is situated just around the corner of the main house. One is provided with a key to the room. I have attached a photo of the owner’s son inside the room. The room has been designed for comfort despite it having some items belonging to the family. It’s very comfortable indeed and the atmosphere is warming. Breakfast was an absolute treat. The lovely lady of the house had set up a beautifully layered buffet of fruits, cheeses, cured ham, pastry, croissant, bread, fresh fruit juices and a selection of fine tea. A truly amazing historical masterpiece, with some additional home comforts.

My GPS had taken me to the car park opposite the church, and despite my efforts my Google Map was having great difficulties in locating the street. Upon arrival the room I was staying in took a long time to warm up. I was unable to access the internet until late in the evening and it was sadly very slow, and unfortunately cut out on several occasions.

What an incredible location in the heart of the Old Town of Gaillac surrounded by ancient history. The restoration of this fantastic property has been done very tastefully and the breakfast room was very cosy and a great place to sit and contemplate. Cyril made some great recommendations for places to eat traditional foods and the numerous places of interest to visit in this incredible part of France. Excellent value for money too including a fabulous breakfast with local produce.

La Lauze et l'anguile was such a lovely place to stay!!!!!! It was amazing to see how Cyril and his family had renovated the buildings in such a sympathetic way to the history of the building. The bedroom was very comfortable and very beautifully designed. We felt as if we were staying in a small boutique hotel at such an affordable price! Our hosts went above and beyond to help us feel comfortable, when we arrived Cyril even provided a very unexpected aperitif to welcome us. It really shows how passionate they are about welcoming people to their home!!! I would definitely stay again and have recomended La Lauze et l'anguile to friends.

Loved everything!!

Loved the rustic and medieval feel of the place. Especially the breakfast and setting have been amazing.

I wish there would have been clearer instruction on where and how to access the breakfast place. But questions about it where answered swiftly via text.

Authentically renovated, medieval house of fascinating importance with charming hosts and an excellent continental breakfast. Recommended for those interested in local and European culture and history. Fans of standardised, uniform, international hotel chains should look elsewhere.

The tap (faucet) over the bathroom basin was particularly noisy.

We had an unexpectedly warm and friendly reception which was sprinkled with Gaillac wine and foie gras. On the other hand, sleeping in this house, completely renovated, which five hundred years ago hosted Francois Premier for three nights, our thoughts took us to those times of medieval turmoil.
