Chambres d'Hôtes Le Clos des Marronniers

Pierre and Baebre were exceptional hosts and we could not have asked for more. They were cheerful and welcoming. On arrival Baebre immediately noticed we were not as agile as 30 year olds and offered us a room on the first floor instead of the one planned for us on the second floor. The gite is tucked away on a quiet road in its own grounds behind locked gates. There is ample and safe car parking. Our breakfast was superb with plenty of choice and we were very well attended to. Our bed was clean and comfortable and we slept really well in our peaceful room. The bathroom was well appointed and the shower was powerful and hot. Baebre offered lots of tourist tips of places to visits which was interesting and helpful.

There was nothing to dislike. We might perhaps have liked coffee and tea making facilities in our room but Baebre explained that they are worried about the maintenance of the furniture etc. Not all guests show respect for other peoples homes so this is an understandable decision they have taken and I respect them for it.

This is a beautiful house in the middle of town within a walled garden. The house is authentic, the decor lovely and the hosts welcoming and helpful even with their limited English. The room was decorated well with a comfy bed and pillows. New bathroom with fluffy towels. Parking on sight and breakfast is provided in the dining room, we had an early ferry so the host packed us a bag of things to have for the trip. A very enjoyable experience staying here.

Tea/coffee making facilities would be nice

Well maintained and exceptionally restored home. Breakfast was good. Staff are very friendly and kind but slightly struggle with English but we never had a problem. Secure private parking was helpful. The grounds are quiet and beautifully maintained.

No air conditioning, no fridge in the room. Cannot open third floor attic roof windows if it’s raining. It was hot on the third floor while we were there and it made it difficult to sleep. There is no fan which would’ve been helpful.

We liked the owners and the singing chef at breakfast was very accommodating. His scrambled eggs were lovely and pastries were great. A nice modern room and the bathroom was very good - excellent large shower and very roomy. Great location for visiting Normandy beaches etc.

Would have preferred everything laid out at breakfast instead of being offered items or having to ask. The town was very lacking in places to eat.

We loved all of it: the villa itself, so beautifully renovated, with lots of taste and high quality materials, the garden with its fruit trees, beautiful flowerbeds and room for our kids to play, and not to forget the owners: so welcoming, helpful and generous. Breakfast was more than we could have wished for, fresh croissants, home made jams and granola... We would definitely recommend this place, as well for couples to find the charming intimacy of a mansion in a beautifull village and for couples with children the space outside to play while we started our apero time at the terrace of the villa. Owner used to have a restaurant so he knows his way around in wines, just ask! One not to miss!

Beautifully renovated villa with garden, very calm and quiet despite the central location in Douvres-la-Délivrande. Warm and friendly welcome. The hosts really love doing what they're doing, and they're doing it well. Beide Gastgeber sprechen übrigens hervorragend deutsch. Great breakfast with homemade jam and regional products! Tastefully decorated rooms. Free and safe parking on the premises. WIFI worked well.

A fridge for guests would be nice (need'nt be in every room: a shared fridge would suffice). Just to keep one or two drinks cold... ;-)

Wow... SUPER NICE host and beautiful castle like mansion with lovely garden. The town is pretty and some good restaurants are walking distance. NOTE: Ask the host to make a reservation because the two good restaurants will be packed

No bar in the TOWN after 8PM when the pizza restaurant closes so BYOB if you want a late night drink.

Beautiful, comfortable setting. Good base for exploring. Friendly, accommodating hosts.

No tea/coffee facilities in the room. No eating in the room. With the town being small and restaurants close by not always open, finding dinner options was not always easy.

Lovely welcome to large mansion house with big garden area. Very spacious double room with extremely comfy bed. We had to leave very early to get morning ferry so expected to miss 8 am breakfast. Owner kindly insisted on providing “ packed” breakfast . Would love to have spent longer in the beautiful house.
