La Bonne Etape

This hotel is really lovely. It’s not really walkable to town, but we knew this from previous reviews, and there was plenty of free parking, always a bonus. the gentleman that greeted us at reception couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful, all of the staff were excellent. We had a lovely room with a terrace, which would have been excellent if it wasn’t raining!! The food in the restaurant is absolutely superb. We have lived in France for 5 years and this was the best steak we have ever had since moving here. I would thoroughly recommend eating here, and the service was excellent too. The room was a good size and everything was clean and tidy. we will definitely stay here again. We don’t have anything negative to say!

This was our second stay at this hotel, we returned with family as loved the first visit so much! The staff are absolutely wonderful and so very friendly and helpful. The rooms we had with the balconies were superb for sitting out on in the lovely sun with a glass of wine! I just can’t praise the food enough here at the restaurant…..it’s the best restaurant in a hotel I have ever come across. Definitely recommend this hotel and hope to return to the Loire Valley soon.

A very nice room with a private terrace for only 5 euros extra.. Nice breakfast. Easy parking. Very good value.

The check in time from 6pm (don't try earlier - no-one there) is very inconvenient after a long drive arriving before 6pm. We had to use time by driving into Amboise and having an early dinner. Nothing wrong with the breakfast though. If you want dinner, be aware that the restaurant is closed Sunday and Monday and the nearest food is several kilometres away in Amboise which cramps the drinks with dinner plans. Both these facts could be easily missed on the website.

Easy to find. Nice people. Good food/wine at fair prices. Clean room with A/C that worked. Large car park. English spoken. Perfect for one night stay. Would happily book again.

No complaints of significance. Colour scheme of rooms a bit garish, perhaps. Bathroom needed a upgrade (cracked WHB) but was clean and functional. Located on main road but noise didn't bother us particularly.

The location was easy to find and parking was no problem. The room was clean. The dinner was exeptional.

The dishes were not well cleaned. It is such a pity for such a good restaurant when you repeatedly notice that your fork and spoon have not been properly cleaned. We waited in the morning for half an hour until we could check out. We wanted to check out at 7:30 am, but the reception was not open yet. It would be preferable if we could be informed in advance about check-out hours.

A lovely small hotel, nicely decorated rooms and good food in the restaurant. Owners and staff were very friendly and efficient.

We booked an additional night but unfortunately were not made aware that the restaurant was already full due to Bastille celebrations.

It's located in the way to Amboise, very convinient to visit the valley. There's a Restaurant on the ground floor, but it's closed Sunday evening and Monday full day, so we couldn't have lunch / dinner there. The furniture of the room is new, except the chairs and the courtains (that were broken). The toilet hasn't been refurbished, but it's still clean.

I think this was a superb accommodation and restaurant suitably distanced from the overcrowding of Amboise. Very friendly and attentive staff. Utilitarian bedrooms but supremely comfortable bed, everything spotlessly clean. Good parking I highly recommend this property.

A very comfortable hotel on the outskirts of Amboise. Good car parking. Very friendly and helpful staff.. A good choice in the restaurant, where we had an excellent meal. The hotel was as good as our previous visits. We will certainly return.

Comfortable, close enough to town, air conditioning and loads of unusual choices for breakfast (extra charge). Perfect for a stop off or weekend visit. We wondered what the rooms would look like after seeing the lime green and brown colour scheme in the hall but luckily the rooms were really nicely done!
