Hotel Croatia

We have just stayed for four nights before moving on to Brac, we really enjoyed our stay. Thought the rooms were very comfortable, we booked classic rooms and they looked out onto the harbour. The hotel is huge and this type of hotel isn’t the sort of place that we would normally choose. The rooms were very quiet, so no disturbance by other guests. It was busy but didn’t feel it, the pools were great with two beach areas, albeit no sand, but you can get in the sea. There is even a return buggy service thrown in to transport you down the hill to the beautiful town of Cavtat. The bar serves iced tap water which is free and safe to drink.. it also serves amazing cocktails too. The breakfasts had a good selection and we thought they were of a good standard. The hotel was built in 1973.. so it’s not super modern, but it’s very nice and it smells amazing. we didn’t use the spa, but I did use the gym, which was great. I wouldn’t say it’s a 5 star hotel, but it is still very nice and we would stay again. I couldn’t stay there for two weeks, but I don’t think I could stay in one destination anywhere for two weeks. so if your looking for a holiday in a nice hotel, close to a lovely harbour, this is a good choice. Dubrovnik is literally 20 minutes in the car or you can get the boat from Cavtat.

The room key cards are old technology and kept getting wiped by our mobile phones.. 🙄

My family (4 adults, 1 baby, 2 seniors) were very impressed with our 4 day stay at Hotel Croatia. We usually stay at smaller boutique hotels, so we were a bit apprehensive about the size of Hotel Croatia. The hotel exceeded our expectations, and despite being very large, the multiple beach, pool, and lounge areas made each setting feel more intimate. The sea is gorgeous and clean around the property, and the location is perfect with a 10 min walk into Cavtat town (with the option of taking the buggy up/down the hotel hill). Cavtat itself is lovely, and much less touristy than Dubrovnik. We would definitely come back to this hotel in the future because of its beauty, location, and good service.

If you're reading my review, trust me, just proceed with your booking. In my opinion, it is one of the best hotels in the whole Europe, if you take into consideration the location, the quality of service, the view, and the food, not mention the very reasonable room rates. The value for the money is excellent. It is hidden in the woods with many nice walking pathways. The location is perfect, almost 20 min driving to Dubrovnik center, and few minutes walking to the Cavtat village which contains a lot of restaurants over the sea. It's almost 1.5 - 2 hrs driving to Kotor and Tivat ( Montenegro). The room is spacious and sparkling clean. The balcony is spacious as well, with stunning, panoramic views on the sea. The hotel has everything you need for a perfect holiday. A beach (rocks) , excellent food, spa, kids' playground, swimming pools, and tours to Montenegro and Bosnia. The breakfast is good with wide varieties however it closes at 10:30 which is a bit early if you want to enjoy some sleep during your holiday. I liked the active lobby during the evenings with live piano music. The staff are professional and kind. There is free car parking with golf cars that can take you to the parking and the village.

It was a perfect stay, I'd give it a 10/10. However, I had issues with the AC. The room was too warm for me, and there was no cold AC as we were in late April. The lowest temperature in the room I can get was 22-23, which is a bit warm for me, and i could not sleep well. The only choice was to open the windows and suffer the sea waves noise. They told me that AC is central and they can not change it to cool mode as some clients were complaining. They promised me a portable fan , however, I never saw it 😅😅 That was the only complaint.

View and surrounding areas were beautiful. Breakfast offered a good choice and the staff were lovely. Public areas of the hotel were very impressive and spacious. Loved the buggy service down the hill.

The bottom of the pool was dirty and was obviously not cleaned often enough. The carpet in our bedroom could do with a clean. There are lots of steps but we did know about this so can’t really complain.

A nice view to the ocean – and the city nearby. The city is pretty and within walking distance, You will find many restaurants for dining and an evening stroll along the piers. You will notice the airplanes to and from the nearby airport - but it didn't bother us - On the other hand it was great, that the transport to the airport was so short in time and distance

The staff rooms on our floor were apparently used as smoking area for the staff. This could be smelled all over in the halls. When I pointed it out to the reception, it stopped – for a while. Next morning the problem started all over. It is disgusting to step out of the room to get breakfast, and be met with the smell of cigarettes. The hotel is huge so you are in for a walk to get from the room to the pool/restaurant. The staff is not service minded – their preferable answer is “NO”

The view from our room was wonderful and also had a lovely balcony. I really liked the stay in Cavtat.

We booked half board but didn't think the buffet was very good at all. It's a fair hill up to reception and the shuttle cart wasn't always working.

I hardly ever write reviews, but this time I simply have to. There are no words to express all my feelings! It was perfect stay! From the fist second to the last moment! Location. It’s literally 5 minutes away from airport. Bolt taxi cost less than 8 eur one way. Believe - you forget about airport and planes being so close straight away. I know people preferences are different, but I enjoyed travelling to Dubrovnik by boat (which by itself was pure sea excursion with gorgeous coastal views) but living away from the stone city full of tourists. Hotel is located on it’s own peninsula covered with pines in a very picturesque bay facing small town of Cavtat!!!! Hotel and stuff. We arrived abt. 16:00. Our room was ready. We were upgraded to the sea view room. I said, that I’d prefer to see sparkling lights of the bay in the night… No problem! Here you are- room overlooking Cavtat on the highest floor. And if you don’t like the view- just let us know, we’ll change it straight away! And… We prepared a bottle of sparkling wine for you, because of your anniversary, but as soon as we arranged you a different room you won’t find it as you enter, but we’ll bring it to you in couple of minutes. -We are not used to sleep under one big duvet… Could you possibly bring us one extra, so that husband won’t steel the duvet from me every night?…And is it possible to get some herbal tea instead black one?…. Of course!!! Here you are!!! We literally got upstairs by elevator from the reception ( no more than 5 minutes) - and guess what!!!!! Two extra duvets and a basket full of different herbal teas!!!! -Could we have extra shampoo,please…?…. Please, enjoy! Here you are - double quantity of all the shower products every day! -It’s rainy outside, could we get an umbrella?…. Here you are!!! Please take two for both of you. -Can we buy your umbrellas, we liked them a lot?…. Please take them as a gift!!!!

Breakfast buffet seems to be more about quantity than quality. Didn’t seem to be freshly prepared

Great location with easy access to two private beaches. Facilities were great including mutiple restauransts and bars, buggy transfers to beach and the view was excellent. The room was good sized and clean. They also had a seaside restaurant on one of the private beaches which was very convenient. I asked for late checkout which the hotel offered without much fuss or extra charges.

We stayed half board at the hotel - The dinner buffet was not up to the standard that I was expecting and could have been better.
