Hotel Excelsior

Everything from the check in process to access and walking proximity to the old town. The staff was professional, polite and helpful and answering all of my questions and assisting in booking tour excursions. The buffet breakfast along the sea coast was also excellent with an incredible view of the Adriatic sea and the old town.. The view from my room's terrace was unbelievable. I did not want to leave the hotel! I would definitely return to this hotel.

Housekeeping staff member who walked into my room without knocking first and asking if guest was inside the room. She apologized. It was no big deal. She offered tea bags.

The view from our room was exceptional . We had perfect view over the sea and the Old Town. The location was perfect. We were a few minutes walk into the Old Town but the hotel was peaceful and calm. The hotel is right on the sea and easy access to the sea for swimming. All the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was very good with buffet and cooked breakfast options. We ate dinner at Sensus on our first night which was excellent. The lunch restaurant right on the edge of the sea was good.

For the price that we paid for our room, we would have expected comlimentary water and not to be charged for water from the minibar.

The hotel location is just amazing, just a 5-minute walk from the Old Town. Couldn't have asked for a better view from our rooms, just fabulous with panoramic views over the coast. The rooms were spotlessly clean, with comfortable beds. We didn't eat any evening meals in the hotel, other than on the 1st night we had room service which was fine. Breakfast was very good, with a nice selection of items both continental and cooked. Good customer service, and friendly, efficient staff.

We could hear everything going on in the room next door; not sure if this was just because it could be used as an interconnecting room, so the door let through some noise. There were a few issues with lifts breaking down, but they were soon fixed. The spa facilities were pretty basic.

Solid 5 star (-ish) hotel in Dubrovnik. Excellent position, spotless rooms, very kind staff (very refreshing considering that generally in Croatia service are quite grumpy), nice wellness area (although at some time of the day the pool area needs more supervision and tidying up), nice breakfast. Definitely one of the best options to stay in Dubrovnik.

Nothing major, my room, an upgrade as I was told by the receptionist, was pretty loud due to car/bus traffic on the major road behind the hotel. I didn’t mind cause I had earplugs with me, without earplugs it would’ve been difficult to rest. And my room was not directly on the street side, guess it’s much worse there. I think that an establishment like this should not sell such rooms, particularly at the relatively high price they charge. Honestly I found the restaurant and bar prices a tad too high. I paid 14€ for a small negroni and, hear this, 19€ for a gin tonic, where tonic water was added extra to the gin (6€ for a bottle of standard tonic). Honestly these are New York prices :-))

What a fabulous hotel! Well located right on the water, just a few blocks walk from the entrance to the Old City. Luxurious. Fantastic amenities including lounge chairs right on the water, an indoor pool & spa area, spacious relaxation areas near the bar & restaurant, a large outdoor patio area, etc. And the best part is the staff. They're so friendly and helpful. Special thanks goes to the Concierge team, specifically Ivana & Marco. They are so awesome, I wish I could have taken them home with me.

The price of the room was a bit too high

The staff was fantastic! We had a medical emergency while staying at the hotel and Renata and the rest of the team was incredibly helpful and accommodating. They made us feel safe and cared for during an uncomfortable and scary incident, and I will forever be grateful!

Amazing view of Dubrovnik while dining or lounging by the sea. Far enough away from the old town to escape from the tourist chaos yet close enough for a quick walk to explore the city walls or grab a meal. We really enjoyed the swimming area with attentive staff and inviting sea to cool you down after a long day of exploring.

With the exception of breakfast (which was excellent) we did not eat at the hotel. One of our party is vegetarian and the options were very limited. We were able to find great alternatives in the old town.

Everything about this hotel is excellent!! Our room was huge and overlooked the old city of Dubrovnik and the beach, making it the perfect view to start and end our day. Since the room was so spacious, we had plenty of room to unpack our bags and sit comfortably. The complimentary breakfast each morning was incredible. Not only was the selection was extensive, but the staff was fantastic. They would take us to our table, bring us our coffee orders, and offered us a selection of made to order breakfast meals - all included in the complimentary breakfast! The views from the breakfast patio were also beautiful and made each breakfast extra enjoyable. The hotel is location a short walk away from the old town entrance - we are both in our early thirties and it took us only 6 minutes to walk from the hotel to the old city gate. The walk is very easy - there is a clear path and you are able to see beautiful views throughout the entire walk. The beach and pool area are also fantastic! The pool area is huge and has several complimentary spa amenities (sauna, roman bath, hot tub) that all can use. If you are interested in being able to swim in Croatia then this hotel is the place for you! The outdoor beach area was some of the best swimming I've experienced in all of Croatia! The water is crystal clear and you are able to jump right into it! The hotel also provides guests with lounge chairs so you can comfortably relax between each swim. The outdoor pool area is also really cool and was a nice place to calmly enjoy the water in between jumps. Finally, the staff at this hotel is phenomenal. They were all very friendly, helped us make reservations at top notch restaurants, and gave us great advice for planning out each day. My husband and I are pretty well traveled and we considered this hotel to be one of the best we've ever stayed at! Definitely a must stay for anyone coming to visit Dubrovnik!!

We recently stayed at the Hotel Excelsior for 5 nights and i could not have asked for more. From the moment we arrived all hotel staff were very friendly and more than accommodating. I would recommend booking a room with a sea view as our room was to the back of the hotel. The location is ideal as a 5 mins stroll brings you right into the old town. The breakfast spread was very nice with both table and self service during the times. The hotels swimming pool facilities were very nice which open out right onto a private sea front.

The hotel has two restaurants which are very nicely finished, however a better variety of menu choices would have been nice.

The views from the hotel were breathtaking. The hotel was in a fantastic location, only a few mins walk away from the Old Town. The rooms were so luxurious. The facilities in the hotel were great. The pool area and outdoor sea pools were beautiful. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Food was very good. It was my cousin's birthday and they put a lovely cake and card in the room. They left chocolates on our pillows each night. The breakfast was fabulous, great choice of food. They gave us packed lunches from the buffet when we were going on trips. Piano Bar was beautiful too. Fabulous views of the sea and the Old walls from both. Staff were so pleasant. I will definitely return again. We loved everything about this hotel. Thanks so much for a fantastic stay.
