Casa Grande Inn

Great views - right by the water. Fully functional kitchenette and Nespresso machine. Very comfortable bed. Quiet suite with a fireplace I was thrilled when at check in I was told my room had been upgraded especially since I was staying for five nights. I felt like I was in an apt and all I needed was to go buy groceries. Problems with the internet the first day were sorted out quickly.

These is more a reflection of the location and wouldn't impact anyone coming with a vehicle. I didn't come with a vehicle. I thought that the local bus traveled both ways along the highway in and out of town but it only went one way and only every hour until just before six. While the walk into town took less than 30 mins and was enjoyable it wasn't doable after dark or when it was raining heavy.

Great location on the sea front with fabulous views across the George Strait. Really excellent, very clean room with lovely bed and small balcony to sit and take in the view. Very nice bathroom with superb power shower. Nespresso machine with capsules which somehow were our favourites (not sure how the hotel got that right!). Parking available on-site with lift to all floors from the car park. No food of any sort available in hotel (not expected) so you will need to use what's available locally. One tip - the very efficient lady behind the check-in desk did warn us that most places close around 5pm in Qualicum beach but the Shady Rest restaurant / bar diagonally opposite across the road from the hotel is open until 8pm so best to use that for drinks / supper. We did and found it very friendly, reasonably priced and food not bad - good fish but chips were poor but my wife's pork schnitzel was very tasty she said. Overall an excellent place to stay for a night or two (we had one night on the way from Alder Bay back to Nanaimo for the ferry). If you have time take a walk on the beach at low tide - really superb.

The view from the room was great, looking out over the ocean. Nice little nook with a couple of wing chairs and a small table, just right to relax and take in the view. There was an elevator up to the third floor which was great. Cozy surroundings and spacious wash room with walk in shower. Nice little balcony with chairs and table for those sunny days!! This room was handicap accessible which made it more flexible!

It would have been nice to have a small table with chairs (fold up type) to have a meal at. Counter space was lacking. But overall, it was manageable.

We don’t normally stay in Motels but we were limited to where we could go because there was a tournament in town. First impressions and availability encouraged us to book. Casa Grande Inn was welcoming and felt like a Spanish getaway with the motel structure. It didn’t feel like a motel because of the fun entrance by taking the outdoor elevator up to our floor. It was enjoyable.Quaint and quite comfortable with great attention to detail. “mi casa es su casa” feeling .Creative folded towels and thankful for kitchenette with fridge and microwave! (toaster, kettle) You don’t get that at a reasonable price in a regular hotel room. I requested an extra blanket and 2 wine glasses and they remembered. They made a heart in the blanket that was cute. Great attention to details! Fantastic views of the beach right across the street! could see a seal in the water from our patio. “Shady Rest” restaurant across the street ate dinner first night and took in the views. Tried 2pc fish and chips with mojito, sticky toffee pudding for dessert. All was amazing! Lastly, a notebook and pen to add thoughts and suggestions of every customers stay. Thought that was clever. We walked on the beach and took in the sites.

Cosy room with a wonderful view and easy access from the road. Plenty of towels, fridge and coffee machine was appreciated. Checking in and out went fairly smooth despite not having met the reception staff/manager/owner. If you want to eat dinner out it is important to know that several of the restaurants nearby only are open Wed-Sun. I was there on a Tuesday... However the staff att the adjacent liqour store advised me to Deez 10 minutes walk away and I had great food there.

Information regarding checkout when no staff was there and door to office was locked could have been clearer.

We have stayed at the Casa Grande twice now and loved it. The location across from that wonderful beach just can't be beat. The views are amazing. The staff and family that runs the place were lovely and helpful, particularly the young girl and boy - they were sweet and delightful. She took care of us at the front desk a few times and he went door to door when it was reallly hot giving everyone ice. The rooms have been upgraded somewhat.

The only problem we had was with the bed in our room (404). It was so soft that there was no support and we sunk into the middle. We both have aching hips and backs now as a result. I would advise the owners to invest in medium to firm mattresses - ones that are too soft are very uncomfortable for most of us who have back/hip issues (which is probably a large portion of the population). That alone might make us not return, which would be a shame since we love everything else about this place.

This is a lovely small hotel located right in front of the beach. Beautiful views of water and mountains from all of the rooms and balconies. The room was large, the beds and pillows were comfortable, the water pressure in the shower (at least on the second floor) was wonderful, and everything was scrupulously clean. The ceiling fan was a great bonus; so few hotels have them, and we love to have air moving at night. The hotel had just enough parking and was easy to get in and out of, which was nice on a busy beachfront road.

The wifi stopped worked every night around 9:30 or 10. We suspected the owners turned it off when they went to bed. It was always working fine again the next morning. Also, the hotel doesn't provide any toiletries other than soap (no shampoo, conditioner, or lotion), which was surprising when you're paying $300/night.

The location and view of the beach and ocean were spectacular. The room itself was lovely, especially the bay window with the two chairs and wine glasses! The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Unfortunately, sitting on the deck was not as enjoyable as it looked due to the noise of the traffic. Also, the sound transmission from people on the deck beside us when we were inside and general noise from people above and around was not great.

It was such a cozy hotel room. Small touches which were so nice a guest book, real wine glasses, Nespresso machine, and chairs to overlook the ocean, both inside and out. Had a large TV as well which was nice. The gentleman at the front desk was so friendly, helpful and welcoming. He suggested Deez for dinner which also had amazing fish and chips.

There is a fair amount of noise from the highway being in front of the property. Not much they can do, but it would have been nice to leave our door open just way too noisey.

William was so very accommodating. Service with a smile and nothing too much for him. Rooms exceptionally clean - the whitest towels and bedding I have seen in a long time. View from room was one where you could sit all day and watch, unfortunately we weren't there long enough :-(

Small thing, other guests walking past the window to reach their rooms which were further down the passage. Unavoidable due to design of the building.
