Buena Vista by the Sea

For some who remember 1950's motels, the photos were somewhat reminiscent of those rooms, partly because of the layout and partly because of the bedspreads. If this was a 1950's motel, it has been beautifully renovated. Everything from the paint to the furniture and the bathrooms looks very new. We were to stay 3 nights in one room and 1 night in another. When we arrived, we were told that we could stay in our original room for 2 nights and in the best room for the other 2. Very nice upgrade!

The resort is right on Highway 19A. However, when we are in the rooms, the noise of passing traffic is not a problem, especially after 8:00 PM. Otherwise, the location on the beach is fabulous.

The view was amazing. We sat on the sun deck and looked right out on the ocean and lovely garden. The deck was sunny all day and we ate all our meals there. There is also a shared deck right on the beach that had lovely comfortable lounge chairs.

You could hear people talking through the walls. It was not too bad though. We could also hear traffic noise but when we closed the kitchen door it was nice and quiet. The kitchen is located in the front of the building and we only spent a little in there cooking because the living room/ bed sitting area is so lovely and comfortable. You get the whole ocean view from that room.

The view of the ocean was magnificent with windows all across the front of the room giving us a view of the ocean. We were able to sit on the couch to watch the tide come in and go out. The room was huge and had a kitchenette with a full size fridge and a stove. The kitchenette had appliances and everything you would.d need for cooking.

It was a little cool in the room which we attributed to the fact that there were a lot of windows. It was a small inconvenience to pay for such a view and we would gladly take that room again in spite of it being cool.

A full kitchen. The view was beautiful with a private deck. Was also ver helpful to have your car right outside the front door. Great for loading and unloading as I always take a lot of clothes, Beach stuff and food. We were also able to park our bikes on the deck.

No oven gloves and limited amount of cutlery . I also found the bed too soft and it gave be back ache

Great spot in Qualicum! Room was spotless and comfortable. Staff was very friendly. Definitely recommend staying here, if you can get a room!

Parking at the front - you back out onto the highway. Normally fine but we had a large truck beside us and couldn't see. I had to get out and direct Hubs and the other guests next to us! Walls seemed a little thin. It was VERY obvious what our neighbors were watching and doing 🤣

We have been coming back to this facility every year since we first discovered it in 2017; It is an accommodation which is not only conveniently situated next door to the shore, but it is a well managed Mom and Pop Inn. The facilities are utilitarian but clean and neat. The linens and beds are great The daily rate they charge considering the locations is more than fair.

What is there not to like.

Liked the beach front view. Room was clean and so was kitchen. We had a motorbike so it was visible and close to us by our room which we liked. Lots of patio room and BBQ to eat outside.

Well.... we found the restaurants closed too early at night like 8:00 p.m. and stopped orders at 7:30 p.m.. We went on a daytrip with the Harley bike and came back and found out restaurants were closed. No pizza del. nearby too far. Had to rely on convenience store nearby.

A beautiful view, and a very newly remodelled suite was very clean. 

A lot of effort was put into renovating the suite. However, the bed was the issue last night. Unfortunate that they would take the time to renovate the suite mattress, and not replace the mattress. We are both seniors and appreciate a mattress that will form to the body. 

Very clean. The ocean view was unobstructed; the balcony was furnished, large and separated with a screen from others; all spaces were surprisingly spacious; the fridge and the freezer were also big; the kitchen was very well equipped. Lots of patio space and comfortable lounging chairs. Close to nice shopping and an awesome restaurant.

When it was very hot, we could not create an adequate draft because the entrance door was directly onto the Highway (not safe and too loud at night) and it did not have a screen to stop the flies and mosquitoes from coming in. There is no air conditioning. But when the weather cooled off, it did not matter. The beach is very rocky so bring special “swimming” shoes. Also, I would have liked to have a little table to put my toiletries on in the bathroom and a metal rack to dry my clothing, but we managed without.

Room 101 (the Lasqueti Suite) is on the upper floor, which is ground level from the street side. It has a view over the resort grounds and the beachfront. The kitchen is well stocked for two people, the bathroom is equipped with nice towels, bathmats, hairdryer, etc. The queen-size bed was very comfortable with good quality linens. A large TV and two armchairs made TV viewing comfortable. The small balcony has two patio chairs. Every aspect of the room was spotlessly clean. Excellent restaurant directly across the road, very nice pub just a couple of minutes walk away.

The parking spots are allocated to specific rooms, our spot was just outside the door to the suite, this was a good thing. But unfortunately, it was right on the side of the (old) island highway. Unpacking the car with trucks driving past within a few feet was awkward.
