Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Calgary Downtown

The location of the hotel was not to bad & downtown was a short walk away. Having the Fox On 6th attached made our dining choices easy & with no problems getting back to our room we could enjoy a few quiet drinks. Also having a staffed front desk 25/7 adds to your sense of security.

Unfortunately, room selection is an issue & requires some planning. If you have an early start do not stay above the pool area, as that can be an issue if guests want to take advantage of the pool later into the evening. Also the room had no mini bar/refrigerator which made keeping drinks cold impossible.

Its location & every thing was perfect

The person (male/brown) was so rude and behaving like he is owner of the Ramada chain around the world. There is no beverage or anything in room for which you have to take security deposit but still as we should respect hotel policy so I asked him take my passport & USD/CAD cash as deposit even double of your desire amount but my credit card is not working right. Other receptionist Lady also requested him to keep the cash but he was like if you won’t give security deposit through credit card then you can walkout of this hotel while my 3 nights at hotel were non refundable which was USD 300. Need to correct the attitude, don’t spoil business of your owner by showing such rudeness with your guests

Simple hotel, not super modern but very nice overall. Room was spacious and clean. I spent most of my day outside so it had all I needed. Location is central and it is close to transportation so you can reach easily reach places downtown and further away. The staff was outstandingly helpful and encouraged me many times to ask for anything I needed.

There was a salsa show at the pool in the afternoon and the music was a bit loud. It did not disturb me but I’m conscious that for some guests it could have been annoying. There was a door in my room that I found out being “fake” (it opened to a wall) but at the beginning it startled me a bit.

The front office and housekeepers were always friendly and ready to help. The rooms were clean and tidy. The pool was nice and the water was war. We stayed with a dog, so it was very comfortable. We were able to book it for a good price, a good value for money. Will stay there again.

The valet parking was full at the check in, it was very frustrating as it was Sunday night and we should park the car overnight at the street and move it somewhere at 7 am. Luckily, the lady at the front desk advised us when the vacant parking became available. So, kudos to the staff of this hotel.

Location was great. Parking was easy and convenient. Beds were comfortable and the pool was great.

The hotel is definitely dated but all in all in was good value and a comfortable stay. We had to switch rooms after the first night due to a leak that caused a big puddle outside of the bathroom door but they switched us rooms within 10 minutes of us calling. We also didn't have a fridge at first as advertised but when I called they brought me a tiny fridge. The second room we had already had a nice size fridge. No microwave though but we didn't need one.

Excellent location in Downtown. The booking process online was smooth and when I arrived I was greeted by Sarah at the reception. I wasn't sure if she would be able to accommodate an early check-in which she did and the room was made available at short notice. She was cordial, very accommodating, and was able to suggest on whereabouts in downtown I'd be able to find late dining. The room was simple, clean, and to my liking, very quiet. Complimentary coffee in the room but surprisingly, no fridge. I couldn't get a hold of anyone for room service and I was redirected to the front and was offered prompt assistance. I had an appointment early morning and wasn't sure if I'd make it in time for check-out. Again, Sarah offered a later check-out time which worked out perfectly. The room wasn't super fancy, furniture quite old, but the service was definitely on point. I'd choose excellent service over esthetics any day! Thanks to Denise as well whom I had a short interaction with for a smooth checkout process.

The staff at the hotel and the bar attached to it were all very friendly. I didn't catch anyone's name, unfortunately, but they all made sure that my stay was enjoyable, whilst also getting to know them a bit. In terms of the room (I was in 927), it was fairly large and had a TV that offered a wide variety of channels, as well as a balcony (although it only really looked over the office building opposite). The best was comfortable enough, and there are plenty of sockets around the room. There is a bar/restaurant attached to the hotel, and the food is varied and delicious. I would definitely recommend eating in there, as opposed to the one that is located opposite the reception desk, which is only open for breakfast anyway. In terms of location, the hotel is well-positioned, with two tram stops being within a two-minute walk, as well the main shopping district being a five-minute stroll east. Also, from a personal perspective, the hockey arena is a thirty-minute walk, meaning you have plenty of time to think about the game (hopefully following a win) before you get back, and you get to see the full sights of a post-game.

My main gripe with the hotel room is that in your room is a door to the room next door, like you see in some hotels, and sound leaks really badly through there. Some days I was having trouble sleeping because the person in the next room along had their TV on, and whilst not loud, it was enough to hear what they were watching. Also, the showerhead in my room was not only broken (the piping was sticking through the wall, meaning you had to keep pushing it back in), but also, like far too many hotels, if you're over 5'7, you have to bend down/your knees to actually have a decent chance of having a shower. There is a bath in the room, but again, if you're over 5'7, you don't be able to lay down comfortably.

Room was large, clean, quiet and had more than enough towels and consumables. Balcony was good added feature. Lobby had a great breakfast, though not included with room. Friendly, helpful staff. Underground parking was convenient, and fair price. Fitness room was great.

Pool was closed for maintenance. Room didn't have a microwave or fridge. Basically due to being basic.

Location worked out perfectly for us, staff was courteous and the room felt clean, haven't had that in a long while

For safety reasons, I feel like the railing on the roof top pool section could be taller and the balusters could be spaced closer together. My two year old son can fit through them. Part of my search was family friendly, in my opinion the pool is not. I was extremely lucky to have been right next to my boy to stop him.

Staff are amazing - we asked for a kettle they had trouble finding one and said once they find one they will bring it up for us. We thought it wouldn’t happen as we went to bed and no kettle had come but by the time we got back the next day after being out there was one for us on our desk. The location is great, very central. The room was spacious.

Fridge only in some rooms, but the staff said they can keep anything in their fridge for us, so that was nice but a shame all rooms don’t have fridges. Aircon is central so you can’t have the room as you would like and we found it a bit warm. Rooms are a little dark - some extra lamps would be nice. I am five foot six and the shower was a bit low for me. Housekeeping is only every 4 days, I feel that’s a bit long as we had a lot of rubbish and weren’t sure what to do about that. I think every three days would be better.
