Hyatt Place Blacksburg/University

I have to reiterate my satisfaction and overwhelming gratitude for the staff, particularly Conner and Michael, who were working Fri night, 7-6-23. They were caring, patient and Conner helped me in the middle of a complete exhaustive breakdown in the lobby. He surely didn't have to do so, but he went over and above his job description. He is my hero. The whole staff was attentive and accommodating. NOBODY was on their phones, which is really saying something these days. I cannot say enough wonderful things about ALL the staff at the Hyatt. I will pick the Hyatt for EVERY stay possible because of this trip.

Too few carts. There were only 2 for the whole hotel. We had to make 5 trips to the car on Sunday. No microwave, just a very minor inconvenience.

enjoyed that there was actually fresh fruit including strawberries and blueberries and not just underripe honeydew that most places try to pass off as fruit.

I wish the bar in the dining area had been open to serve the Starbucks coffee that was advertised. Would have loved to have gotten a mocha or some sort of cappuccino or even just the vanilla syrup that I saw behind the bar not just the drip coffee that was in the breakfast bar...it was decent and at least fresh and hot...but really would have loved access to the vanilla syrup 😊

The breakfast was an impressive layout. Everything was well stocked and looked very fresh! The rooms were very spacious and clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful!

We were extremely disappointed that there weren’t marked options for those with food allergies/sensitivities for the breakfast. We also didn’t have a very nice view. The view out our window was a huge generator. We also skipped the pool because when we walked into the pool room, the chlorine was so strong, it burned our noses!

Loved fresh blueberries on the breakfast bar, oatmeal and eggs were good. Room was very clean and the beds very comfortable. Super easy to check in and out.

No microwave. We have meds and warming pads to heat. That was a bust. When did hotels stop providing microwaves? My husband thought the lighting in the bathroom was atrocious. Not bright enough for shaving. Might not be able to come back here even though most everything else was wonderful

I’ve stayed there many times over the last 5 years while my son attended Va Tech. I love the location and friendly staff. However the breakfast food is really poor now. I thought when we got out of COVID we would be back to a nice breakfast bar. The eggs, sausage, fruit and pancakes were not a very good quality and we all commented on it’s taste. I guess with all the cutbacks and price increases something has to suffer. Va Tech is a captive audience and I get it…..just sorry the food quality at my favorite hotel stinks now.

We stayed for 3 evenings. The Hyatt had an amazing breakfast bar with tons of fruit and many options. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Hotel is very close to VA Tech with lots of sidewalks and just a short walk to Main street. Quite a few restaurants in the area to choose for lunch and dinner and a CVS very near by.

Our experience at this hotel was PHENOMENAL! It was a stop along the way during a cross country move, and it did not disappoint. The staff was so sweet, friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was amazing. The room was very nice, comfortable and super clean. Overall, it was the best stop by far in our journey. I highly recommend this hotel.

I would 100% recommend Hyatt Place to friends and family. Our room was very clean, and equipped with everything we could possibly need. The bathroom was modern and large. Breakfast exceptional!

We only received three bath towel when we had four of us staying in the room, but it was no problem to get additional towels.

The breakfast was plentiful and staffed for appropriate attention. The location was perfectly located for access to downtown, VA Tech and the highway. The room and the building spaces were clean. The bed was comfortable. Staff were friendly and professional.

I had a very pleasant stay; no complaints.

It was a great hotel for stopping over on the way to somewhere else. Our original destination was DC and Delaware. It's a really nice hotel with great, friendly staff.

Not the hotel's fault, but there's not a lot to do in Blacksburg particularly when we were there. School had let out most restaurants were closed.
