The Robey, Chicago, a Member of Design Hotels

Cafe Robey was great for brunch. The rooftop views and areas to have a drink were amazing. Chocolate chip cookies at 4pm were a treat. The room was well laid out and super clean. The blackout blinds - WOW! All of the architectural features of the building, such as the ornate elevator doors, were lovely.

There was only 1 bedside table and lamp for a king bed. The chairs and small table were utilitarian, but a more comfortable chair to read in would have been nice. The pool was tiny.

All of the staff were super friendly and welcoming, the front desk Anthony was great, some other front desk people were great, and the restaurant staff too, everyone at the hotel was talented at engaging guests. The decor of the hotel is stylish and chic. The mini bar included was a nice surprise. The noise machine was great to have. The Le Labo body cream in the room is a luxury.

The bathtub had rust spots, and it lacked elegance, didn't fit the vibe. The restaurant menus at the cafe and the bao bar are a bit weird, and it was hit or miss on different things.

The owner clearly tried to keep it as original as possible when making any updates. Very nice bedroom with bathroom; perfect size. Great and interesting location too. The building is at a unique spot while due to it being on the corner of a 6 way intersection surrounded by shops and restaurants.

Everytime I tried to go up to the balcony and see the amazing view, the upstairs was closed. I wish I could have gotten a picture of the sunrise at the 6-way intersection.

View from the rooftop and lounge were AMAZING! Room was cool and the bed was super comfy! If you’re looking for an area to do a lot of bar/ club music hopping this area is for perfect for you. Bustling neighborhood with tons of people watching to be had. Soundproof ish rooms blocked out any major noises but realistically you can’t quite down the city

Wish the pool was a little bigger but still had a great time with a great view of one of the best cities!

The Robey has been my go to hotel when I visit family nearby. My room was on the tenth floor with perfect views of the city (including the downtown skyline). My room was clean, housekeeping came in when I requested, plenty of towels and beach towels for the rooftop pool. I splurged ordering room service for breakfast. Chai latte, yogurt parfait and an English muffin. It was all so tasty and amazing. I truly love my getaways at The Robey!

Guests are allowed to access the rooftop pool at 8:00 am before it opens to the public at 11:00 am. One morning I wandered up around 9:30 am, truly enjoying myself, reading and admiring the views. When the Cabana club opened at 11:00 am (at this time a few groups of people arrived - I’m guessing they were not guests as they didn’t have the yellow Robey towels). Two servers went directly to all these guests, completely ignoring me. I had to walk inside to place an order. Okay, I get it. I’m a 55 year old woman…invisible. I just had to have a drink, as it’s custom for me when I stay at the Robey but I left soon after. Also noticed three lime wedges in the pool (obviously from the night before)… so I couldn’t help but wonder how clean the pool really is.

A special hotel. Decor very well done as it incorporates modern conveniences with the original, almost century-old architecture. Lobby underwhelming. The Up Room view is incredible. Room noise acceptable (I'm very picky) and the sound of the train was similar to that of the a/c - we were on the 9th floor, overlooking the station. We used street parking, which was free from 10pm to 8am. No problem finding a spot (we stayed Wed and Thurs nights). We needed to use our car during the day so this worked well for us.

The lobby area is extremely small and dingy. Not very welcoming. Some of the staff were friendly, others not so much. When I booked I did not notice the resort fee...

The Robey Hotel it is by far the best choice I have made in hotels for a long time. This hotel has exceeded our expectations and we can highly recommend it. 2' walking distance from the Blue Line metro (Damen). The checking was easy, the staff was always amazing! Big shoutout to Alex who made our stay perfect and was always willing to help! Thank you for the late checkout! The room: We stayed in a Queen + Bunk Bed Room. The room was spacious, extremely clean, modern and super fun for a family (loft type). We had some lockers to put all of our stuff in it, very original. Each locker (there were 6 of them) had internal outlets and the ability to add a lock to secure all the valuables. All the beds were amazing, comfortable and clean. The metro was passing at a few feet from our window, but the doubled windows, made the sound of it totally bearable. If you are very sensitive, the hotel provides with earplugs in your room. The room also had a desk, two lounge chairs with a copper table, a TV and a mini fridge (a HUGE + to the hotel for including in the price of the room the snacks: M&M's, chocolate bar and granola bar on top of waters and beers!). The bathroom: The sink was in the corridor while the shower and toilet in different "rooms". Very industrial looking and amazing. The hotel provides with shower caps, cottons, make-up removal wipes, and Le Labo "Santal 33" soaps and body lotions (one of our favorite brands!). Also plenty of space to put your toiletries. The pool: The pool was very small, but enough to just chill and have a drink. Located on the the 6th floor, the view to downtown Chicago was amazing. The food and drinks were awesome too. The Cafe Robey: We had breakfast each day and we were always amazed by the quality of the food. Thanks to the Chef and Nathan for their customer service and attention to detail. Nathan, your foam art in the Cappuccino is getting better. ;)

Having beautiful resin floors in the bedrooms instead of carpet, it is sad that pets are not welcomed in the hotel. This would make it PERFECT!

Comfy bed, black out shades, pretty quiet despite being on a busy corner, nice bath products and collaboration with Le Labo (enjoyed getting a sample)

Small bathroom. The bathroom door opens towards the bathroom instead of towards the hall. No air vents in bathroom. I wish there were bigger water bottles included with the daily facilities fee.

You can’t beat this location. Great neighborhood with shopping and restaurants, and right on the blue line to take you to O’hare or downtown. That said if you are noise sensitive bring ear plugs. My room was directly above the train. Doesnt really bother me but it may be an issue for others. If so ask for a room further from the track. You must go to the Up Room for their rooftop cocktail bar. Amazing view of the city. And great cocktails! Sadly it rained my whole trip so i didnt get to take advantage of the pool but it looks amazing.

I wish i had a keurig in my room (they have one in the lobby, and i could have ordered coffee to my room), and a few impractical things which could totally be specific to my room design - full length mirror is behind a curtain that you have to hold back to see yourself, not a ton of storage for toiletries, and the shower is a little messy - meaning it floods into the bathroom and there are no benches or anything to make it easier for a girl to shave her legs. But again, totally adapted and not dealbreakers!

The convenience of being able to walk downstairs and have a restaurant available. And not just a restaurant, but an excellent restaurant! The discount was very nice, the gym, The bus and metro.... Everything made it I really wonderful stay.

A small desk and chair in the room would have been Helpful.
