Fireside Inn on Moonstone Beach

We love staying at the Fireside Inn because the rooms are huge (allowing us to keep your bicycles in the room with us), all of them are at ground level, the beds are very comfortable, and the location is perfect. There's a small pool area, which we didn't use.

In years past they offered breakfast at the hotel but now that they've become part of a larger hotel consortium they guide you to their sister property about 1/2 mile away. I've also been pestered by emails offering room upgrades (for a price), etc., even after we had already checked in.

The location of this hotel was sensational. We walked across the street to watch the sunset and in the morning we walked along the beach. We also walked to the restaurant nearby for dinner. Just beautiful. The room was large and updated with a small porch area to enjoy the sounds of the ocean and the stars at night. There were a line of motels along this stretch of road, so it felt friendly to be around so many other travelers.

We really enjoyed our stay. The only downside was no central air con in the room, which made my husband uncomfortable for the night. The rest of us didn't mind it. They provided a fan.

The property is in a lovely location. Jeremy on reception was lovely and very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The check in process was very good.

I felt the property was a little overpriced. The room was nice, but I feel it was rather soulless, it needed a few more soft furnishings, cushions, rugs to make it a bit more homely, it was nice and you can tell the hotel have tried, but haven’t got it quite right yet. The view of the carpark for the money I paid, which was over £300 for 1 night was not ideal, I had a view of dogs doing their business through the window. I have stayed in a lot of mid to high end properties and for this to be priced over £300, it needs something extra. Complementary water and maybe a continental breakfast should be included.

Location, location, location! Moonstone Beach is breathtaking! Don’t worry if you can’t get an ocean front room, because once your out of the hotel room, there is the beautiful beach, and you will want to go and walk the boardwalk and go to the tide pools and beach and look for moonstones or go to the quaint nearby town of unique shops, restaurants, and wine tasting establishments, thereby wasting the money spent on an ocean view room in which you will spend very little time. The hotel has been recently renovated and the fireplace rooms were very charming and comfortable. Very friendly staff. The heated pool and hot tub were wonderful to use on a cool night.

Very pricey as we arrived on 4th of July weekend. Would have been nice to have coffee and breakfast available and included. We don’t usually appreciate coffee making supplies in hotel rooms because they rarely include enough sweeteners and powdered (meh) creamers, so we rarely use the hotel room stuff and always go to a nearby coffee place, which was a bit far ( short drive) from this hotel. Also, most Cambria restaurants close at 9. This isn’t the hotel’s fault, but maybe they could pass the message that It would be nice if they stayed open an hour later, as we arrived into town about 15 min before closing, and they would only do take out.

Staff was really attentive with anything we needed. From the front desk at check-in, maintenance, room clean from maid staff, to the night auditor at night bringing a space heater. Everyone was very accommodating. Location was great, rooms were clean and modernized. The choice to order breakfast from Oceanpoint Ranch restaurant was a plus, albeit pricey in service charges. Still a good stay though and i appreciate the customer service from everyone. Cheers!

The only glaring issue is the fact that the "fireplace" was very weak and didn't provide any heat to the room. The wall heater in the room was only that, it heated the wall and nothing else. So it was a little cold but we were provided an additional space heater promptly. With a name like fireside inn i was hoping for warmth from the fireplace but it was mainly a decoration!

The hotel is really just in front of the ocean so the location is perfect if you want a peaceful place to stay. Rooms are really big and well decorated and you have a small fireplace. Loved it ! Also there’s a parking so it’s perfect.

We arrived at 9:30pm and all the restaurants around were unfortunately closed (not the fault of the hotel of course). And the nearest city is 30km away. We went to a gas station at 5mn by car where you can find food and microwaves so it was ok. Also I would say the price is a little bit high for a hotel in a small village.

Fireside Inn is a renovated property conveniently located across the road from Moonstone Beach. The location is great and we took our daily walk along the Moonstone Beach Boardwalk. The place is very clean and tastefully decorated. It has a small fridge but for some reason, booking.com doesn’t list that as an amenity. The staff is friendly and helpful. We asked for a quiet location and they accommodated our request by putting us in the back. Highway 1 is directly behind our room, but we never heard any noise with the window closed. The king bed and pillows are very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay at this property.

We visited in mid April so the weather was still quite windy and chilly. The fireplace in the room was a nice feature but it didn’t work that well without a fan to blow the warm air into the room. Although there is also a wall heater, that too wasn’t quite enough to heat the rather spacious room. The property (like many others) still provides shampoo and conditioner in these small tubes which means you can’t get much of them out of the tube and then all that plastic packaging is terrible for the environment.

Check in was a breeze. The rooms were very spacious and the location was amazing. We could see the sunset from our room and ocean from our bed. Loved the outside patio.

The only con was that the walls were very thin and we could hear our neighbors talking in a normal voice. We had one neighbor that blasted their music, thankfully they were quiet once it was time for sleep. Also due to Covid no housekeeping service was available although they supplied us with extra towels and coffee at the front desk.

Rooms were not ready when we arrived even though we arrived after 4 pm. Staff seemed nonchalant about it but it put us behind for reservations we made.
