The Dog & Doublet Inn

The location was ideal - in the country but within easy travel of Stafford. The checking in and out was seamless and the staff without exception were professional and friendly. The breakfast was superb - the only thing lacking was fruit juice. Cleanliness of the room left something to be desired. The carpet did not appear to have been vacuumed although the vacuum cleaner was left in the corridor as a trip hazard. The previous occupant had clearly had food delivered to the room and the debris was apparent. The room was cold; the only heat source was an ineffective radiator which probably needed bleeding and there was a lack of supplementary bedding. The duvet was a low rated toggle and not very warm. That apart the pub is cosy and warm and is excellent value for money and I would recommend it.

The friendly welcome and help to the room with my many bags on my arrival was a real bonus. Nice clean and tidy room. Comfy bed and lovely clean shower too was good. There were also clean towels on the 2nd day. Nice breakfast and also nicely served. I forgot my sun glasses when I left and the lady I talked to on the phone was so very helpful and put them behind the bar for later collection. Really appreciated her help. I would book here again especially as only ten minutes to Stafford County Show!

Only 2 electrical points so a little difficult to get everything ready charged for my work day. Personally I prefer a buffet breakfast. But it was nice all the same and served by a lovely smiling waitress too. Disappointing that there wasn't much coffee in the room..but tasty biscuits.

Breakfast was great with lots of options and Beccy was absolutely fabulous. She listened, worked with us and made variations based on the individual needs of all parties. Steve, the handyman came and fixed the door locking issue at night which was incredible and he also helped out allowing us to borrow his phone to make a phonecall about our aunt's funeral the following day when we could not do it on our own. Claire was also lovely. Just so thoughtful and kind staff - fabulous and made such a great memory for us. The warm position we had in front of the open fire and ate in warmth having just arrived from hot, humid Aussie conditions into icy, chilly but invigorating conditions of England. Ahhh, just delicious.

Excellent value for money, great pub with great local food. We ate in the pub for dinner & breakfast and the food was lovely & fresh with great choices including lovely local produce. The log burner was in use in the evening and morning which made things really cozy. The staff were really efficient, attentive and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The room was a great size, the bed was really comfy, we had a great nights sleep and the room provided everything we needed.

The room didn’t appear to have been vacuumed but the rest appeared clean, it didn’t cause an issue. Our room was above the kitchen so there was some noise from the extractors but this stopped once food service ended although this didn’t disturb us.

Perfect overnight stay after a hard day of retail therapy in town. The staff were amazing throughout from check-in to breakfast the following morning. Awesome food in the restaurant and indulged in a 3 course meal. The young waitress was delightful. Breakfast was very tasty, I had Staffordshire oatcakes. The lady was very bubbly & chatty. Would definitely recommend. Thank you team Doublet 🤍

Good Large Parking Area. Staff very Good. Booked in very quickly, Keys for Room upstairs and Restaurant Table Pre Booked for Dinner. What I needed was good meal, Drinks and a Good Sleep. Restaurant was exceptional and Soup, Pies, and Desert went down really well. Bed were comfortable and Tea and Coffee facilities. Had to leave very early. Staff were there ready to let me out of the Inn. No problems at all.

Did not get the recipe for the Salmon and Hake Soup.

Staff were really friendly and helpful. Dining was excellent and lots of the locals booked the restaurant. Breakfast was really great with large portions. Easy access and lots of free parking.

Some of the bedrooms are a little small but ok for an overnight stay. Rooms hot but that was due entirely to the unseasonal weather - just leave the windows open. Situated near a very busy main road.

The meals were very good quality and tasty. We had 2 breakfasts both of which were ample in proportions and were attentively served by the waitresses. Our evening meal with friends was exceptional for a pub meal and reasonably priced.

The bedroom was a little small with only minimal room around the bed to move. However for a short stay this was not a problem and the room was very clean and comfortable in general.

Traditional Inn on our route with a nice restaurant serving nice meals in a relaxed environment. Staff were really helpful and made our stay very pleasant. Excellent shower, instant and good temperature control.

Nothing really. Two minor points it would have been nice to have some fruit and yoghurt at breakfast and the external window frame behind the secondary glazing room 8 could do with a thorough clean.

Comfortable room. Got the disabled access room on ground floor as I requested a walk in shower . Good facilities , comfortable bed. Very clean and easily accessible. Warm with heat we could adjust. Husband mentioned a humming from next door room, but I didn’t hear that!!

Everything! Room, staff, food, atmosphere, breakfast, evening meal and menu.
