Downsfield Bed and Breakfast

The proprietors, Sharon and David, were very friendly and welcoming and the decor and furnishings of the property were very tasteful. The quality and variety of food on offer for breakfast was excellent 😍There were cereals, delicious yogurts, fresh fruit salads, various Danish pastries and croissants, as well as the wonderful cooked breakfasts on offer. The location of the property is excellent, as it is in close proximity both to bus stops and the train station and within walking distance of Carbis Bay beach and the coastal path to walk to St Ives. There are also, several restaurants in close proximity to the property.

My stay at Downsfield was nothing short of exceptional. The combination of luxurious accommodations, outstanding breakfast, top-notch amenities, and exceptional service made it an unforgettable experience. My room was nothing short of perfection. It was impeccably clean, spacious, and beautifully decorated. Everyone I encountered was friendly, professional, and eager to ensure my stay was perfect. They genuinely cared about my comfort and satisfaction. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a memorable and comfortable stay. I can't wait to return for another visit in the future.

The room was spacious, nicely decorated and very clean, with a comfy bed and pillows. There was a chest of drawers, two bedside tables (with drawers) and a hanging area with 7 hangers, plus a full length mirror and single hard-backed chair. Tea and coffee making facilities and a TV were also available for use. There was a large shower in the en suite bathroom, as well as individual bottles of shampoo and shower gel. There was some noise from the road, as the warm weather meant that the window needed to be left open, but this was not much of a disturbance. There was daily housekeeping available, if desired. The location was good, next to the bus stop and a short walk away from a couple of restaurants (including a fish & chip shop which, if the restaurant is closed for the night, it's worth checking to see if the take-away is still open) and the beach. Several hot options to choose from at breakfast, which was filling and cooked as per the orders given to the owner the night before. This was served to the table by one of the two friendly staff members. There was a cold buffet spread of yoghurts, fruit, small pastries, cereals and fruit juice. The property felt cosy and had some nice touches, such as a bowl of sweets in the front hall. There was no communal area for sitting in outside of the breakfast hours, but this was not an issue. There was off-road parking, as others have mentioned.

Apart from a brief polite conversation at the time of check-in, the only interaction with the owner during the stay was via the booking.com messaging system asking about the next day's breakfast order. A bit pricey but probably to be expected for the location and time of year. It would be good to expand the guest information booklet in the rooms to include local bus and train times and more information about local restaurants and amenities.

Really comfortable bed and extremely clean and well decorated bedroom with spacious beautiful ensuite. We didn't mind parking approx 100 yds down the road and the B&B covered the cost as not enough parking on the driveway. Nice walk down to Carbis Bay (steep obviously!) Beautiful garden and host warm and welcoming; we were allowed to arrive early to get ready for a wedding at Carbis Bay hotel which was great!

Small mistake with the breakfast order and 'cosy' inside breakfast area. Quite a busy road outside which, thankfully, wasn't busy at night.

The room was very clean and tidy, with a lounger chair, plenty of cupboard and wardrobe space. complementary tea / coffee and biscuits. Our host was welcoming and the breakfast had variety and was really tasty. location was about 40 minute walk from the centre of St Ives, 20 minutes from Carbis Beach, and close to the bus stop for longer journeys. There was an excellent fish & chip chip, and a Tapas bar close by, both of which we tried and were very good.

In our room, the bathroom and shower was very small. It was a bit like showering in a telephone box. My wife said the coffee was very weak.

Sharon is such an amazing host, since before we arrived she was so accommodating and this continued all through our visit. Her B&B is perfect and has such a homely feel which is what we wanted. It fully deserves the 5* and I highly recommend this accommodation to anyone who looking for a trip to Cornwall and Carbis Bay. The breakfast was delicious and the staff serving breakfast really wanted to get to know you and went above and beyond to get to know you.

Everything! From the place ,so well decorated and well looked after . Clean and professional staff. They made me feel home and treated me like a member of the family. I have never been treated so well in all the hotel and B&B I have visited ! My staying was amazing . Food delicious and loved my room . I would high recommend this place to everyone . Walking distance from Carbis bay beach which is breath taking . A walking path which you can get easily to St Ives . Such a beautiful place to visit . Well connected with the train to St Erth .which you can get a train to London . Or by bus which the bus stop is just opposite the B&B. I will definitely come back next year !

The only thing I disliked it was the day I had to leave. I would have loved to stay more :)

Lovely place to stay everything was so clean and to a very high standard. The room was huge and beautifully decorated. The bed was soft and comfy and the bedding was all to a very high standard. Breakfast was lovely, freshly cooked and tasty. The staff were so kind and helpful without being intrusive and were always there to answer any questions we had. We would recommend a stay here to anyone. We will be back!

The room was advertised as a balcony with a sea view so we had planned on spending the evening on the balcony however it is a Juliette balcony with doors that open inwards and a rail across the opening so no Balcony as such and the sea view is way in the distance. That said the room was outstanding and we would go again maybe just amend the way it's advertised?

Very comfortable bed, beautiful decor and tastefully decorated - dining room lovely. Very convenient with bus to St Ives just across the road. Breakfast was amazing. Staff lovely and Owners very helpful and friendly friendly

With weather being a little unpredictable and rainy could not use the lovely garden so would have loved to be able to relax at the end of the day in the communal lounge but it was locked after breakfast

Lovely place and welcome. Parking space available with the room we booked. Room well kitted out and very clean. Loved the sea view. It was in the distance but still special. En-suite was small but all that’s needed. Super breakfast room and breakfast which you order the day before. Bus stop outside. Easy walk to the train station. Made visiting places very accessible. Easy downhill walk to Carbis Bay, which is beautiful. You can walk into St Ives from here via the coastal path. We did and that was super. We returned by train and took a steady walk uphill to the B and B. There’s a Tapas restaurant, fish and chip shop, small supermarket and 2 pubs all within walking distance of the B and B. Parking is expensive in St Ives so a bonus having a parking space. We left the car there the whole of our stay. It is also possible to park in the church close by at a reasonable price, but best to drop your luggage off first because of the walk back uphill. We were also impressed with the WiFi in our room. Excellent value for money.

The only thing we didn’t like was having to leave.
