Very nice hotel in a prime high street location in Southwold. A little pricey but overall we were happy with our stay. Staff were very friendly/helpful and the onsite parking was a real boost. Our room was a little quirky but its an old building with beams, low ceilings, etc. Very clean and the 'no dogs' policy is particularly refreshing these days. Excellent breakfast served by friendly and enthusiastic staff. I would stay here again if visiting Southwold in the future.

The steps inside the building are no doubt a challenge for older guests and the sea-gulls which seem to like the hotel roof are noisy but these are minor gripes.

Friendly staff, nothing too much trouble. Good parking facilities and ideal location. V.comfortable room, easily accessible and a nice touch- 2 bottles of Adnams Ales and crisps. Tea and coffee making facilities, together with biscuits. Room was tidied each morning and refreshments replenished. Although we did not use the restaurant of an evening we did take breakfast, ample choice and delicious. Would have no hesitation in using again. The purpose of the stay was to sample the ADNAMS ALES and again not disappointed, it appears that Adnams is one big happy family and it shows in their care of staff and guests.

The room was excellent. The beer and crisps, on top of one of the best stocked tea and coffee trays I've seen, was a fabulous touch. Dressing gowns to boot! The staff were so amenable. The restaurant (evening meal - book separately) was exemplary. The food was first rate. Breakfast was enjoyable and toast and orange juice seemed never ending!. I ate the vegetarian breakfast and it was great. My wife had the smoked salmon and scrambled egg muffin, again no complaints. A great hotel.

TV was a distance from the bed, but the armchairs made up for that.

Location on high street. Great being able to park car before check in to do brewery tour & not have to worry about moving car! Reception staff v friendly. Room lovely & comfortable & the bottles of beer / crisis were a nice touch. Also loved the mini Roberts dab radio / Bluetooth speaker. And loved the framed litho prints hung in room one.

Man serving at bar Friday eve was a bit off serving my partner double Jack Daniels as they were larger measures than the standard 25cl pub ones; she’s 57, not a teenager! He wasn’t very friendly but all other staff were. Personal taste but we’re both vegetarian & didn’t like the tofu for breakfast, would prefer a decent veggie sausage.

We had a fabulous 2 night stay at the Crown. Crucially for Southwold, it has onsite parking for resident guests. We were in a "comfy" room which was spacious and well appointed. We liked the bathroom so much we might design our one at home to match. The reception staff were very helpful - phoning within half an hour of our leaving to let us know my husband had left some fairly crucial belongings in the bedroom and when they couldn't immediately reach us on the phone, they left a note on our car that was still parked in their car park - really great attention to detail. We really liked the back bar for a cozy late evening drink and the lounge for guests which was a really nice "home from home" touch without having the expense of booking a suite. We dined there on one of the two nights and had an excellent meal. Would definitely recommend.

I think there must have been a different chef for breakfast as for dinner. Dinner was superb. By contrast, breakfast was pretty average. The first morning was fine but the second morning, my husband's bacon was burned and my pancakes were swimming in maple syrup. It wasn't a critical fail but it was obvious when everything else was so well executed.

Very pleased with Hotel & friendly staff overall & standard of good breakfast but a little disappointed with some evening dinner food choices & prices. On one occasion a menu food choice was unavailable due to shortage was disappointing . However, we enjoyed our stay & certainly would come again in future , the location was ideal for a relaxing break.

All good accept some reservation concerning evening meal menu choices & prices, particularly deserts could be a little more adventurous with different menu choices.

The room was bright, airy, very clean and beautifully presented. Very helpful staff at reception. The public rooms downstairs were also of a high standard including a small bar with cask Adnams beers. The breakfast yogurts were really good!

The breakfast featured good quality ingredients, but they weren't always well cooked: the bacon was incinerated, but the tomatoes were hard. Basically, I don't think the food was as good as they thought it was. The seagulls! We live in a seaside town, so we're used to them; but this was something else - literally just outside the bedroom window, and being high Summer, the racket started very early.

Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice. Had a couple of evening meals but not impressed with the language used. Wondered what a 'bon bon' was and not impressed that sides were charged extra. Desserts expensive - i love cheesecakes but the one we had was strange accompanied with a weird sauce that looked like tomato sauce, not sure what it was made of. Had far better cheesecakes at my local pub.

Noise from the main road, our room overlooked it. We always have window open for air but think the police need to patrol this area as I think its used as a race track in the early hours. Cars racing along with their 'boom boxes' on , not very restful. I know the Crown cannot help this, but I do think the police should be aware of these 'boy racers'.

The room was exceptional, large with a sitting area and 2 armchairs. Double blinds to exclude the sun/ light. Air conditioning useful at this hot time. Accessories for sleeping: mask and ear plugs - noisy sea gulls at times but quiet overnight. Complementary beer and crisps! Breakfast excellent with great staff and good bar service. Plus parking - so easy to stay here, we like it more than their sister hotel The more expensive Swan Hotel.

We had dinner Sunday evening on arrival - a bit disappointing as the rare beef was not rare as stated / requested - maybe it had been cooked earlier for lunch - I was offered a replacement however. Staff very obliging.

Lovely position pub and restaurant has been done up really well, food was delicious and we had a lovely time. Breakfast was great, a good selection. Only wish we hadn’t eaten as much the night before.

We booked last minute, and got room number five, which is right above the kitchen. We were disturbed by the noise from the kitchen both in the evening and in the morning. We thought it was just a one off but we’ve looked back through the reviews and noted that lots of people have said something similar. For such a beautiful place it would be nice for them to put proper windows in as the noise kept us awake and slightly ruined the trip for us. Only other suggestion we love Adnams but it would be nice to have proper coffee at breakfast rather than just another Adnams knock off.
