The Hotel itself is situated at the high-point of Baslow Road, leading in to Dore. Our first impression was very favourable,it had an old-world charm about it, great parking and an impressive entrance to the property. The eating area was well furnished and attractive. After we booked in we were led to our allocated room over the stable block. It was very comfortable, clean and welcoming, even to the large balcony which allowed us to sit in the cool of the evening.

To be honest, there was nothing I balked at in relation to this property and I would stay there anytime we were in the area. It was excellent as a base for our visit.

the room was lovely; it had a balcony that was quite comfy with a view over the street. it is a beautiful pub which is very dog friendly. the staff was absolutely great! The food (Lunch dinner and breakfast) is absolutely great We had the dog in our room in his basket, and he did spend most of the time sitting on the balcony watching the world go by :) Carpark is big and safe and the outside beer garden is lovely. We will stay here again as we found this part of the country beautiful and this hotel one of the best we stayed in so far!

The assistant manager sitting with his feet on a chair had to check us in, was sloppy and forgot to charge us for lunch and the 20 pound for the dog, we had to remind the evening manager! He was happy as there was an open bill that he didn't know who it belonged to! That was the only negative, the rest of the staff was absolutely golden! nothing to fault!!

Hotel is newly refurbished, very clean. Bed was very comfortable and room was well stocked with tea/coffee and bathroom well stocked with shower gel/shampoo/lotion/hand wash. Bar/hotel staff were all very welcoming and friendly. Hotel was on a good location, only a 20 minute drive from Sheffield city centre. Location was peaceful.

Staff often seemed a little unsure about things, e.g what drinks they had to offer behind the bar, and as the hotel part is relatively new (I think!) staff seemed unsure of procedures E.g checking in and out. We were given a different breakfast menu in the hotel room to what we were offered downstairs, and even then it seemed like the chef potentially wasn’t used to breakfast customers.

Firstly, the location. A couple of minutes drive from the Peak District National Park, and close to Sheffield, in a very pretty, quiet village. Plenty of parking around the side and back of the hotel. The recent renovation was clear to see. We were quickly checked in, and our room was perfect. Large and light, with high vaulted ceiling, very comfortable bed, tea and proper coffee making facilities. Soap and shampoo in the shower room. Iron and hairdryer in the wardrobe. Everything was spotless. We had a delicious evening meal and drink in the bar/restaurant downstairs. Everyone was polite and friendly. It was the perfect getaway. We would happily return.

Sadly there was an issue with the kitchen the following morning, so we didn’t get breakfast which was included. But the chap who checked us out happily sorted a discount to make up for this ( we popped up the road to the Bird Cafe instead). Next time we look forward to having breakfast too.

Our review would have been a 10 for this property but for the things in the 'don't likes' below. The staff were great, the room was a reasonable size, fresh, comfortable and clean - which is what you want, much better than I expected from a pub stay. Very good value.

Windows would not shut - ok in Summer but still not secure. Breakfast was hit and miss - mine was great but my wife had smashed avocado which was inedible because the avocado was totally unripe and consequently not smashed but sliced. Extra toast as compensation didn't really cut it.

Lovely room, very clean and neat with a big cimfy bed. The bathroom while small was perfectly serviceable. With only 4 rooms that had thick walls, it was only when someone happened to talk outside our door that we realised we weren't the only occupants in the building.

Although there is a kettle in the room there wasnt the option of instant coffee sachets, only a coffee pod machine. Maybe personal preference but we really don't like them. Plus a better selection of teas may be appreciated.

Excellent location on the edge of Peak District in Totley, really good access to Baslow, Curbar and Froggatt Edges only 7 mins drive. Room was basic and compact but clean and tidy and quite adequate for the three nights I stayed. Most staff were very helpful and welcoming.

Some light road noise first thing in the morning (c 7.00am), but quiet during the night. Room was a little hot overnight even with window open.

Lovely room, tastefully decorated, lovely staff, spotlessly clean, lots of unexpected extras for what we paid (e,g. Nespresso coffee machine, biscuits! plugs and mirrors in the right places! Comfy bed.

We have no complaints about our stay. If we have to find anything the placing of the toilet roll holder wasn’t ideal and lack of shelf space for toiletries in the bathroom but we are being picky here trying to find something.

Stayed 2 nights over a busy Friday and Saturday bank holiday. Slightly noisy on Saturday night as we slept very early whilst the pub was still open but not excessively. Staff were great and very accommodating, especially to my 92 year old mum. The place was exceptionally clean and newly decorated. The car park was large and free with many spaces still available at 9pm on a Saturday night.
