breakfast was ok, staff were very nice, and the rooms where comfortable

the disappointing part was arriving at 5.30pm on the 6th june, only to be told the spa was shutting at 6.00pm, and it didnt open on the Tuesday(following day). the hotel is advertised as a spa hotel, and was looking forward to chilling after a 400 miles drive, and it was the reason i booked, so to say its a spa hotel is slightly misleading.

Honestly a beautiful hotel / spa , one of the best spa’s I have ever been to . They truly have thought of everything , if you need to de - stress then come here ! I’ve never felt so relaxed in my life , beautiful staff from the moment you walk through reception - nothings too much to ask for and everyone is so friendly. Couldn’t say a bad thing about it! And exceptional value for money , thankyou so much for an unforgettable stay ❤️

The hotel is exceptionally beautiful and offers great comfort. The hotel staff is dedicated to ensuring your utmost comfort and satisfaction, going above and beyond to meet your needs. The staff is friendly, helpful, and amazing. The room is immaculately clean and well-organized, ensuring a comfortable and relaxing stay.

The evening meal was excellent and the room (76) was very comfortable. Most of all the staff were very welcoming efficient and friendly... very busy with a wedding and a funeral but nothing was too much trouble. Also I had to cancel after Christmas as I developed Covid the day before and I could have been charged but the management kindly returned my money in full

The hotel is in a fairly quiet town. We were traveling around England and booked this hotel for the old country atmosphere. Service was excellent and the hotel itself and interior is stunning.

Cleanliness was a problem, there were cobwebs in our room, especially around the windows, both in the room and bathroom. The breakfast was a letdown, the coffee was lukewarm and there was no water, only juice. We asked for water but never got it.

Staff were excellent. Breakfast was good.

Moved rooms as bathroom radiator (electric) was broken. Staircase paint was chipped and worn. Stair carpets need cleaning. Restaurant food was fine but a bit overpriced.

Much larger than expected and lots to do! ALL the staff couldn’t do enough and not only for us, but everyone that was there! The Spa alone was truly amazing and pictures on their site don’t show half of the facilities the property has to offer. So clean, large area just for a walk within the grounds and the food is out of this world.

We visited mid-July (17th to 18th) 2021 and probably the hottest days on record I would suggest, only downfall were there was no way of keeping cool in the room with no AC or any available fans but this is far from a complaint. At breakfast there were another couple sat at the next table that I feel were very disrespectful and difficult to please by the staff, giving the Covid situation and other staff unable to work (due to Isolation etc.) the staff worked their fingers to the bone - and that was in all areas or the property.

Eclectic mix of new & old . Immediately felt at home. Staff very helpful & friendly. Let down by the quality of food in the evening . Breakfast was great. Good for kid stop travelling back from Northumberland as just off A1. Freshingly different to a Travelodge /premium Inn

We have stayed here twice before so obviously we like it ! Staff are very welcoming and the rooms are comfortable. Breakfast is good.

Surprisingly, dinner did not meet the standards of our previous visits. Service was slow and main course was only warm when it eventually arrived. Difficulty getting the bill too ! Not sure what the problem was that evening as dinner service has been good on our previous visits.

Excellent choice of breakfast. Haddock and poached eggs were superb. Nice ambience throughout the establishment. All staff were attentive and helpful. Evening menu was reasonably priced and of a good standard, we had a bottle of rosé from a region of France we are familiar with plus Timothy Taylor's Landlord bitter was available on draught.

Windows in the room were very drafty, however, thick curtains compensated for this. Flat roof outside was unsightly and in need of a bit of attention with a build up of moss and debris.
