The gardens at the rear, down to the river, are lovely and are viewed for the bar and dining area. I would imagine the same views from the rooms at the rear. The rooms at the front are over the main road and overlooked from the buildings opposite which requires the curtains to be drawn for privacy. The room was very warm and the window could only be opened a fraction, obviously for security. However the bedroom and bathroom was spotless. The hotel itself is a bit dated and requires some major refurbishment but I think that is in progress. Breakfast was good and the main menu was typical chain pub food. Disappointed that there was no hand pulled beer although there were three pumps. Staff were happy, polite and helpful. All in all, quite happy with our stay.
The room was a bit too warm but couldn't open the windows more than a couple of inches. The rooms at the front are overlooked.

The hotel was clean and the family room was quiet. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and mostly very cheerful. There was a very chilled vibe in the hotel which we liked. We had a good stock of tea, coffee and sugar in our room, alongside plenty of towels. There was also a hairdryer in the room and upon request, the use of an iron and ironing board which came in handy. There was a nice walk nearby (searched on Google Earth) and the city centre was within easy reach. We took advantage of the 'two pizzas for one' offer on a Tuesday and were expecting only bog standard flavoured pizzas for the price, but we were extremely surprised in the quality. Both pizzas were flavoursome and freshly made. We watched them being prepared, with fresh ingredients and then cooked in the pizza oven, highly recommend you try these! I would have no hesitation in recommending staying here with a small family, who is on a budget. Fantastic value for money.
I had no clue where to check-in and had to find a member of staff to direct me. You actually check-in and pay at the bar, which is clear enough once you go into the bar area, but not clear where to go from the outside of the building, or the entrance. My mattress was a bit too firm for me, but that's just my personal preference. These were only minor issues.

Clean, comfortable and easy to get to. Had parking available. Food was good quality especially the breakfast included in the price. Room was spacious and some amazing views over the river.
Found it a little awkward there was no reception desk, you check in at the bar. There was no phone in the room so if you need to contact a member of staff in an emergency it wasn’t possible unless you went all the way back to the bar, which was the furthest point from our room. Description of available facilities in the room when booking said there were ironing facilities, but there was nothing, and no info in the booklet in the room, and again no way of calling down to ask unless you went back to the bar.

This is our 4th long weekend stay here over the past 2 years the location is great the beer garden is directly on the river (we had breakfast out there this morning) and close to other pubs and love the merchants of spice Indian restaurant. It's about 1/2 hour walk or 10mins drive into Norwich. Breakfast is buffet style and plenty of it,the bar is very reasonably priced and the food from the restaurant is very nice, outside the place is looking a bit tired but there's scaffolding up at the moment looks like new windows and a paint is on the cards.inside bar area nice as are the rooms (spotless) .the staff are great chatty and helpful 😍
Can't think of anything really we've just had beautiful weather so that's put a gloss on in for us ,I suppose the only thing is the decorative order outside is in need of attention but like I say there's scaffolding all around the building so it looks like it's in hand

The rooms was nice and clean had everything to offer big enough so we could fit the travel cot and double bed and have the sofa bed pulled out and the breakfast and view and outside seating area was lovely, bed was really comfy as well, lovely modern room. Staff was friendly and great help.
Had a little musky smell when first entering room but went away, room was very humid as it was a pretty hot day but also with the restaurant being downstairs I think it makes it that little extra warm to many doors and stairs before getting to room would advise for anyone with walking problems.

We had a very friendly reception upon arrival, a lovely touch being shown to our room. The room was lovely and clean and had everything we needed for our nights stay. The bath towels and bed linen were nice and soft, and the TV was a good size, although we didn't use it much. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and great value.
The shower in our room was dripping all night, despite our efforts to fully turn off the tap. The beautiful view from our room was obstructed by scaffolding, which we know cannot be helped, but was a shame. The room was very warm, and we could only open the window about an inch - perhaps a fan in the room would be useful.

Beautiful location with gardens down to a landing stage on the river. Handy for city centre but no parking problems. Busy pub restraunt below rooms handy for evening meal. Excellent mattress with immaculate linen etc. On bus route so could keave the car behind to explore Norwich. Lovely high ceilings meant rooms ferl more spacious than you might expect. Good modern bathroom shower, no bath.
Unfortunately the evening we were there the normal menu was very curtailed - dined out instead . Corridors a little dark and dingy but they seem to be having a bit of a repaint programme so this might be improved.

The bed and facilities in the bedroom were fine as was the bath room, which had been modernised. Breakfast was full English which was good and plentiful which met our needs. The staff were very helpful and very polite and it was a good base for our weekend visit.
We had read the reviews so came with the right expectations, and although the hotel met our needs it is a very tired property that would benefit from paint up externally and internally. We would suggest the the bedrooms are painted in a lighter colour above the dado rail on the non feature wall, this would brighten the whole room.

The staff were so friendly and welcoming, the room had a great view and was clean and comfortable. There was one young man who was exceptionally kind and carried our bags up the stairs for us, which was a great help.
There were lots of stairs up to the room so it was a bit of hassle to get all our stuff from the car to the room. We decided to eat at the hotel as we had my two young grandchildren with us and it was easier. My daughter in law and I had the carvery, which was very disappointing. The potatoes were dry and looked unappetising. However, the kids meals were freshly cooked and looked lovely. The pizza was made from scratch!

The Location was Great As our Son and his family live in St Andrews Drive Just a few minutes walk away. Good Value for money and breakfast was good. My daughter particularly liked the Chicken wings for breakfast . Room was clean and comfortable.
The sash window has a limiting Cable to prevent it being fully open which is good, But, it would not stay open to allow a bit of fresh air in without propping it up with my reading book. Not a big deal but a bit of fresh air in the morning is nice for us.
