We often visit the Bear as we enjoy the food and ambience. This was our first time staying. The food as always was delicious and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I requested a room in the old part of the hotel and we weren’t disappointed. The floor had its quirk of sloping and we had the charm of beams as well. The bed was very comfortable.

It wasn’t a dislike but an observation. The decor in the room was a bit dated. It was clean though and that is all that mattered. The same could be said for the hallways and stairs in the old part of the building. But it all adds to its charm.

I really enjoyed my stay. I did need help with my key 🔑 card. As strangley l didn't see the proud "1" on they key.......I was looking at the other part of the key that said 011090...... So just the receptionist, who gave so much info, l felt overwhelmed. . But could she please FINISH With YOUR ROOM, NUMBER IS 1 !! I Was looking forward to a baileys by the open fire 🔥 but on both of my nights. The fireplace was cold in fired Which l believe my stay would be more bliitssful. If

The hotel, breakfast, My iron didn't work, which l needed. People were nice. And did the best job. Clean and cosy much appreciated. Will defo visit again. Just that the lovely intro by the main receptionist could be a bit more PERSON SPECIFIC.... as a dyslexic with mild mental health issues. The intro felt slightly robotic....would prefer a calm, relaxed welcome that asked me what l really need to understand the setup. I did however loved my stay and will return. As my brother lives locally. Who l ma mainly there to see

Very good breakfasts, staff very pleasant especially with my dog. Rooms practical for a dog owner (you need robust furniture and not to much in the way of fancy drapes!). Despite problem with the boilers they coped very well.

Nice warm bathroom and. hot shower but toilet didn't have much pressure when flushed (could be a slight plumbing problem). Rooms a tad expensive, but considering the financial crisis and the aftermath of the pandemic, not really surprising. All in all a pleasant stay. as usual (stayed here often in the past).

Room was exceptional, even though the boiler packed up the room had a heater and they put an extra duvet on the bed. We over looked the old coach yard and it was very quiet, even though there was a private party with over 100 guests. the Evening meal was five star and on returning from the concert the bar had an open fire and a drink before bed was lovely. Despite having no central heating the room was warm and welcoming and the bed was oh so good! A full english breakfast (the other choices were amazing) finished of a lovely stay, with the added bonus of Santa's little helper and a lovely Santa's grotto and even at 08.30 Santa himself. many thanks to all the staff, we will definately be coming back.

Location was good as it was the centre of Havant. Facilities were good . Breakfast was unhurried and service was attentive. The room was spacious. The TV quite small and where it was placed not really useful. But that's only if staying in the room and I was using the room to sleep lol. Bathroom was a bath with shower attachment, toilet and basin. (Not suitable for a disabled person) . Small but functionable. I liked it . Old , needs a refurb but met my needs.

Its not about what was not liked. It is an old establishment so there was going to be areas that really do need updating . it is possible with investment the establishment could be renovated to a better standard. Finding the car park was a challenge as its behind the hotel down some narrow streets. It's not signposted. I had to ring the property to find out where it was . Entrance to the ground floor easy for wheelchair users however where the rooms for sleeping were located I doubt that there was any way a disabled person could use the establishment. Entrance was via stairs ( quirky ) and almost like a little maze (reminded me of Harry potters school with his moving stairs lol).

There’s no question that the hotel is due some TLC however despite it being tired and in need of refurbishment, the room and surrounding corridors were clean. The room was light, the bed linen, towels, tea, coffee and biscuits as good as any 5* establishment I have stayed in. The Wi-Fi worked well. We had an iron, ironing board and hairdryer in the room and nice toiletries. We travelled with a dog and she was also made to feel very welcome. We needed to leave before breakfast started and we were offered a takeaway option with no fuss whatsoever, to be collected from reception at a time that worked for us. It was waiting for us and was a really generous and nice quality breakfast. What stood out most for us from the stay was the friendly service. Nothing was too much trouble and everything was done with a smile without exception from all the team members. I like that a lot.

Sat nav sent us to the hotel frontage so we had no idea how to get to the carpark and had to drive round twice and found it only by doing a map search of The Bear Hotel carpark. Could be useful to update website with directions to carpark. Also I was only aware not to pay for parking on what was a pay and display carpark from reading previous reviews. Useful to add this to booking confirmation I think.

The Hotel is an old revamped building which is not a 5 star slick venue but the value for money was excellent, the bed was especially comfortable and at a starting rate of £7.00 for breakfast, I work constantly away from home/office and 3 to 4 nights a week I stay in a hotel, normally I wouldn't write a review but on this occasion I was so pleased that I can find the time to report that this hotel is a very satisfactory. As stated above the bed was extremely comfortable the price was very affordable and the quality and variety of the breakfast having taken the cheaper self serve option I was extremely impressed at the amount of effort and standard of service. I would definitely recommend this hotel as of a very good mid range over night business traveler orientated. Not overly outstanding 5 star service but all services offered were delivered customer in mind, they do their job well. thank you for the good straight forward good value service keep it up and I hope this review is helpful. Kind regards Eddie Business traveler, frequent hotel overnighter.

Everything was completely satisfactory, I wasn't expecting a 5 star luxurious experience but what I was expecting I received and the breakfast at a very reasonable rate was of a very high standard and well worth the price I paid for.

The absolute friendliness and down to earth attitude of the staff. The quaint building, and ease of finding it. The exceptional welcome, and the most amazing service given to us by Ryan, Hannah and the receptionist, whose name I didn't get. The huge bed, clean room, the biscuits, and the hotel knowing that 2 cups of tea and coffee are never enough in the room! Plus extra milk and sugar. We were looked after so well. The food was outstanding, but was aided by fantastic staff. Both Ryan and Hannah did that. Happy to chat, as our dinner booking was late and they had time. Gave advice on the menu and the wine. Were also disappointed that there had been no communication on one of our friends birthday, as said they would have done something special.

On contacting the hotel, was told nothing could be done for my friend's birthday apart from Prosecco. I replied that would be fine, but didn't appear. When the waiting staff told me, a fuss would have been made had they know, was a bit disappointed.
