A lovely 'old fashioned' hotel! The hotel is superbly located in Arundel, serves fabulous food, superb beer, and has the most wonderful, friendly, and helpful staff. The breakfast menu was especially noteworthy, with the full 'English' being one of the best we've eaten. The hotel is perfectly located to explore Arundal itself without needing a car, and also makes a great 'base' from which to explore the beautiful West Sussex.

We had expected there to be a king-size bed rather than a double, but other than that, the only other minor issues were that the room was rather warm for us, despite there being a Dyson fan available (but then it was the middle of July!), and there was some noise from the High Street during the night and early morning, but that's to be expected if you choose a hotel located in the centre of town.

Great central location. Lovely quaint bar, buzzing restaurant dining and snug area. The rooms were quirky but clean and comfortable. We booked one of the smaller double rooms, and as my partner is 6 ft 4 in, I had concerns that we’d struggle if the bed had a raised foot post. Staff were helpful on enquiry and reserved us a room with a longer bed in our snug room, which was ample. Staff were friendly and helpful. We ate dinner one evening in the restaurant, and we all enjoyed our choices made. would definitely recommend

There is no on-site free parking. Free road-side parking is available a short walk away, or there is a popular paid open air carpark behind the hotel, which was more convenient

We booked this hotel last minute and we were not disappointed. We booked a ‘snug room’ (small double) which was small but more than adequate for a 1 night stay for 2 people. There were robes, slippers, lovely toiletries and high quality teas and coffees etc. Staff were extremely friendly and breakfast was good quality. The location is perfect, in the centre of town and 5 minutes walk to the castle. Arundel is a beautiful town with a great atmosphere and amazing castle. I’d definitely recommend a stay at the hotel and a visit to the castle is a must.

The room was fine, not the largest but we were only there for 2 nights and only had a couple of bags. It was a big bed and very comfortable, with lovely crisp linen and great pillows. There was a good sized TV, not that we watched it but that’s important to some people. There were enough sockets to plug our things into. There was a Dyson fan which was welcome as the weather was very hot and so was the room, in fact they gave us a second fan which helped. Nice bathroom with a big walk-in shower which had the overhead rainfall head and also the normal shower head. It gave an excellent shower. There was a shower cap, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and body lotion, plus a small pack with cotton wool pads and cotton buds. The bath towels were nice and big. There were slippers and bathrobes, which I always think is a great touch. The tea and coffee was good, coffee bags were supplied instead of the little sachets of instant, and the tea was Teapig, normal tea and some lovely unusual fruit tea. Breakfast was very good, masses of choice for all tastes. The lady who served breakfast (I never knew her name) was absolutely lovely, couldn’t have been more helpful! Full of local knowledge. She’s the one who organised the extra fan.. The location is perfect, the river is just across the road, nice little restaurants all around. It’s a small town and you can walk everywhere, the entrance to the Castle is a couple of minutes walk. There is a pay car park behind the hotel and we left our car there the whole time we were in Arundel.

Check in was a bit slow, despite the member of staff knowing that we were there and wanting to check in, she disappeared because someone else was using the till. She finally reappeared 10 minutes later, well after the other member of staff had finished, unfortunately the other member of staff wasn’t able to check us in! So a bit frustrating, but after that everything was really good. The room was great, the bed was comfy. Pleasantly surprised by the size of the bathroom, everything had been thought of and breakfast was good the following morning.

Check in, as already mentioned was very slow, we didn’t feel very ‘valued’ as a guest.

First time staying at The Swan. We entered the bar to a very noisy but civilised Wake, which rocks you somewhat when you think you’re staying away, but the warmth of of greeting and friendliness of the staff was truly delightful. We were offered a room upgrade without being asked. A small touch, but appreciated. The room was lovely, very clean, and nicely decorated. and I can’t stress how attentive the staff were. Great bed, and a good selection of thoughtful teas, coffees etc. (environmental shower stuff was a nice touch) We ate in the pub in the evening, and had a lovely pub meal. Arundel is a very beautiful small town, and tbh you don’t really need to move from the warmth of the pub. Breakfast was about as good as one could wish for, helped in turn by a lovely member of the breakfast team (Yvonne) who gave each of her guests a warm friendly welcome. Thank you Staff at Swan for your hospitality. we travel a lot with work etc, so we experince hotels/pubs regularly and your welcome a great.

The only downside; but not unexpected was the secondary noise in our room from the bar below. However we chose to stay in a old pub! not a hotel! And they were hosting a Wake. The noise did dissipate much later in the evening. Oh and a tiny negative- a vegan desert…. A lemon creation, a little more guided advice from the staff to say it’s a vegan desert would have been appreciated as it was sadly lacking on all fronts. I did express our concerns about it once tasted, but it did remain firmly on the bill. This said, it’s good to see vegan options are a vital part of a menu.

I loved the attention to detail that the staff made at the Swan Hotel. It made me feel really welcome and that nothing was too much trouble. The tea and coffee and complimentary chocolate and gin and tonic added a bit of luxury which brought a big smile to my face. The bed was comfortable and the toiletries in the bathroom was high quality and environmentally friendly and smelled great! The location was brilliant - right in the centre of Arundel and it was quiet at night which helped contribute to a great sleep.

Nothing.

Excellent food with a wonderful free breakfast. Located right in the middle of Arundel, just a block from the entrance to the castle, with lots of shops and pubs in the immediate vicinity. If you're driving in there's a car park (parking lot) directly behind the hotel, which is nice since parking is difficult to find in the center of this small town.

The rooms are pretty small and cramped, especially by American standards, and were uncomfortably warm even on a cool day during the British summer.

Room was as expected from photos on website. Very clean and nice little touches for example slippers. Friendly, helpful Staff Bathroom adequate and clean, had to get in the bath for the shower, a bit tricky if have mobility problems. Restaurant had nice atmosphere and good choice of evening meals. Excellent Breakfast, small buffet to choose from and good choice on the menu. Nice location, not far to walk from train station, near the river, castle, shops and local walks.

Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff, nice little touches in the room like decent coffee, fresh milk, and little extras if you forget your toothbrush, etc, available in the bathroom. Good selection of drinks. We went for the NYE celebrations, and the five course meal with complimenting sparkly was extremely good.

Nothing we didn't like, although one room for the group we were with was over the entrance door after hours and they had disturbed sleep, rooms are not large but still absolutely fine for our stay and very comfortable.
