Vieng Mantra Hotel

Lovely room with balcony overlooking the swimming pool. Located in a quiet soi in the old town so it is convenient for everything. Easy to explore on foot from here. Lovely staff look after you very well.

No breakfast at the moment as the restaurant closed due to the pandemic. But plenty of options nearby.

This hotel is located on a little laneway just off the road where the Sunday Walking Street markets are held and around the corner from the Tha Pae Gate in the Old Town. It is like a little piece of zen in the middle of town, you walk in and instantly feel calmer and cooler. We had a room on the second floor overlooking the pool, which was surrounded by frangipani and palm trees. The room itself was well appointed with a huge bed as well as a day bed by the window. The bathroom was great - the shower pressure was good and plenty of hot water. We got sick the night before we were supposed to fly out of Chiang Mai so we had to extend our stay and the staff were amazing. They offer a continental breakfast every morning - tea, coffee, fruit, yoghurt and toast.

Our room was right at the landing of the stairs so could be a bit loud at times - it didn't bother us but if you are a light sleeper just request a room away from the landing.

Great location, clean, with everything you need, good value for money

There is a 3% charge on any card payment (debit as well as credit) that is not made clear until after booking The shower is great but the holder can’t support the water strength! This means the bathroom was soaked until I figured out to reduce the water flow to use the holder….but then you don’t get the benefit of the shower’s power The room is serviced every day but given I was there 5 nights it would have been nice if the sheets were changed once Small but important thing, you had to keep logging into the wifi and it was frequently patchy

the room was very well appointed, with a balcony and seating area on the balcony! The pool was amazing and the seating and lounge area around the pool was fantastic, with lounge beds and tables to sit and enjoy a coffee. excellent location, walking distance to many sights, temples, restaurants, and markets. The staff was exceptional! We had left for Phuket and while on the plane realized we had forgotten some things in the safe at the front desk. When we arrived at our hotel, I contacted them and they sent the parcel to our hotel in Phuket for us. I was so thankful, as these were items that I had collected throughout our adventures and many were gifts. That is exceptional service!

The room was clean although a bit dated. It had a lovely balcony overlooking the pool, the pool area was small but lovely and kept very clean. The staff were super friendly and helpful, to be truthful I was quite sad to leave there.

The restaurant wasn’t functioning so there was no breakfast being served so you had to leave the property for breakfast which was a little inconvenient, however there is a lovely little cafe about 2/3 minutes walk from the hotel where you could get a nice, reasonably priced breakfast that opened at 7am.

This is a proper mid range hotel in Chiang mai for all kinds of travellers. The location is in a quiet street inside old city,2 mins from Tha phae gate with a host of shops and restaurants nearby. There is 24/7 reception and a swimming pool. The room was clean, comfortable with a balcony and a good bathroom.

At the time of our stay, the restaurant was closed so there wasn’t any proper breakfast. They did arrange basic bread, cereals, fruits and tea/coffee tho. Also no lift so people with knee issues should keep this in mind.

The location was fantastic, tucked away from the main street in a cute alley. Walking distance to many restaurants and the Sunday night market. The hotel and room were both clean and pleasant. We did not try the restaurant at all so cannot speak about it. Having a balcony attached to the room that overlooked the pool was awesome and was perfect for relaxing after a long day of exploring.

The mattress was very firm and the bathroom was a little tight when trying to use it at the same time as my partner.

Great location walking distance to the night bazaars and good restaurants. The room was comfortable and the hotel had a nice pool area. We stayed in the balcony room which was nice to look over the pool and relax in the afternoon sun. We had an afternoon bus so relaxed by the pool after we checked out, they have luggage storage.

The breakfast was basic, but complementary so good to eat something small at the start of the day.

The location of Vieng Mantra is absolutely great, just inside the walls off the old town in Chiang Mai. We walked to all of the sights in the old town, plenty of great restaurants and bars within walking distance too and because it sits on a small narrow street just off the main street, it is really nice and quiet which makes from great quality sleeps. The room itself was perfect with a comfortable bed, large bathroom with a good hot shower and everything was very clean. We didn't use the pool whilst we were there but that looked great too.

I guess the only thing that would've made this a 9 or a 10 would've been better breakfast options. Currently only toast with butter and jam and some bananas were on offer. Not sure if this is still post pandemic issues or something. Still great they did offer something at least but it made us have to go out for some more breakfast each morning.

We had a great stay at Vieng Mantra! The location is perfect, close to Tha Phae Gate and walkable to all of the Old City. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the pool was a great place to relax in the afternoon after a hot day. If you pay in cash you can enjoy a free basic breakfast of pastries and fruits and coffee and tea. The rooms were clean and comfortable!
