Sugar Marina Hotel CLIFFHANGER Aonang - SHA Extra Plus

Lovely modern clean hotel. Cleaning staff were extremely friendly. Each day when we left the do not disturb sign on they would leave us bottled water hung up on the door. Good location near restaurants, bars, stores and chemist. 40 mins walk to AoNang main beach and night market. Can use grab or a tuktuk to reach this area for 100bht.

Was quite noisey with traffic if you stay in the building nearest the road. If you stay in the other building there is a bit of a hill to get up to the accomodation. Checking in and check out was a bit labourious trying to drag suitcases up the hill. The toilets at the pool area could do with some tlc. They were filthy, no light and no toilet paper.

The room was huge with 2 big beds, big closet, very nice bathroom with large counter for all our cosmetics lol. Shower was hot with really good water pressure. Robes and flip flops supplied. Big balcony with chairs and coffee table. Stunning view of cliff and sea. Very very clean, modern loft like hotel, they thought of everything for the guests. Beach towels AND even a beach bag with large beach mat which we took with us everywhere. The front desk ladies were sooooo nice and the cleaning staff were very thoughtful. Hard to believe the price for this hotel, we’ve stayed in over 7 hotels in the past 4 weeks travelling from luxury to 3 star and Cliffhanger has been one of our favourites for such a reasonable price! The pool was fantastic as well. Don’t hesitate, book it!

Absolutely loved this hotel for a stay in Ao Nang and would use again in the future. The hotel is located towards the top of the town, so about a 10-15 minute walk down to the beach front. We used this hotel as a base to do excursions like visiting the Elephant Sanctuary and Railay via long tail boats. We loved Railay that much we booked a night there and extended our stay at Cliffhanger so we could stay overnight at Railay (only accessible by boat) with just an overnight bag rather than our large suitcases. We had a pool access room which was super for cooling off from the hot weather. The hotel is super clean and new. All of the electrics work fantastic (we found charging European/UK) devices difficult in an early hotel with older sockets.

Accessing the Cliffhanger hotel is a challenge, even for myself and my partner who are both hill climbers in the UK. The ramp/stairs up to the back hotel is seriously step and wouldn't be recommended for elderly or disabled visitors. I really think the hotel missed a trick by not installing an elevator in the base of the hotel. The

Really AMAZING view and lovely spacious rooms. I enjoyed our long stay there and the balcony view was honestly second to none. Our twin room has two super comfortable twin beds. It's a little far up the main road but closer to the local restaurants in the northern end and still 10-15 minutes to the Ao Nang beach. So overall a good location. There are also plenty of parking space.

The hotel has two building and a big ramp that I was not prepared for with luggage. The staff, although friendly, isn't the most helpful when I requested an extra desk. The WiFi needs daily login which is annoying, but it is fast. The rooms are not very well lit and the bathroom door is heavy to close.

we really liked that the room came with lots of great extras such as robes, towels for the beach, beach bag etc. The room was also spacious, modern and the bed was very comfortable.

it is a little bit of a walk from the beach. we also paid extra for the cliff view which is literally a view of a rock right outside the balcony, it’s not really a view. I don’t think this is something the hotel should be charging extra for.

The staff was kind and it was cleaning and a good yummy breakfast.

The fire alarm went off many times in the night.

Very comfortable bed and pillow! Breakfast is decent! Big room. Well worth the money!

To be very picky...the bathroom knobs are too small makes hard to open the door. No ceiling light above beds, small TV

Excellent room, spacious, clean, comfortable beds. Soft bed linen, fluffy towels, and bathrobes. Coffee and a kettle were available in the room. Balcony with a beautiful view of the woods. Great location, close to everything.

Collective pool with individual stairs to some rooms: it is uncomfortable and interferes with the privacy of both guests and those using the pool - if the door of the rooms is open, you can see everything inside it. Hotel's decor, with stuffed deer heads everywhere, is a little weird/uncomfortable. The bathroom door is clear glass, there is no privacy - what's the point? The shower temperature was a little bit unstable. Staff is not so friendly.

Modern, well equipped hotel, with new facilities. Very good breakfast. Big air-conditioned room. Very helpful staff. Location is convenient, facing central street. Hotel has two buildings, we lived in the second one further from street noise and it was a good decision, otherwise facing the street could be a bit noisy. Need to walk to the beach about 10 min, but the plus side is closeness to most of bars and restaurants.

WiFi connection generally worked well, but we had some issues with connecting our iPad upon arrival. This was fixed by hotel staff.

Simply put, this hotel exceeded my expectations. I got a good price by booking well ahead and to top it off, they gave me a free upgrade to a better room. It wasn't an absolute bargain but then again, hotel prices in Ao Nang tend to be higher than in places like Pattaya for example. The room was very comfortable and always immaculately clean. Staff members were the friendliest and courteous I've come across during my whole trip. Breakfast was pretty good as well.

There was nothing I didn't like; let's make that clear. But just to point a couple of things others may mind, if your room is in the building at the back (where the reception is), then you may need to exercise a bit everyday by going the ramp or the stairs. Certainly not a problem for me though, and it's just one of those things determined by the geography of the place. The overall location, which I gave 10 points out of 10, is not the closest you'll find to the beach, but it's not far either, just a nice ten minute walk or so, which will be along the main street, with plenty of things to look at anyway.
