Hotel Caprice - Grindelwald

The rooms were very spacious, having a large bed and a couch. The breakfast had good variety and awesome view. The location is 2 minutes from the nearest train station which was very convenient for travel and trekking. The staff is friendly!

The price is a bit high compared to other places we stayed in Switzerland (but might not be very high for Grindelwald). The rooms don't have air conditioning and Grindelwald gets very hot in the summer (we stayed at 33 Celsius and it was hard to sleep without opening the windows and blinds).

Hotel Caprice is a great hotel to stay in the summer in the middle of Grindewald very close to the train station, multiple restaurants, and walk-able (or free bus) to the chair lifts. Great value for the location. The hotel is up a hill from the main road which allows for great views of the surrounding mountains. The room was bigger than expected with a couch and table and our room had a large terrace. The breakfast was simple but delicious with a lot of Swiss foods. Parking was easy with private parking lot on the hotel's property. The best part is it is a family run hotel with staff who are friendly and always available to answer questions. We would stay here again if ever in Grindewald.

Nice hotel in a pretty good location (near the train station) with great mountain views! Room was spacious and clean with a nice balcony with mountain views (we spent half of our time in the room on that balcony). Helpful staff (lots of local knowledge) and the location was close to the train and in the heart of the city, so pretty easy to access most activities/attractions.

Only critical feedback would be the steep climb from the train station up to the hotel (particularly if you're traveling with heavy bags). Also, no elevator/lift, so you then need to get your bags upstairs too (although the staff helped with that too). Probably not ideal for older or less-mobile travelers, but if your bags aren't too heavy, it's just a few minutes of uphill, then the views make it worth it. Finally, this hotel didn't have a coffee maker in the room, which we thought was unusual, but they offer breakfast and drinks in their restaurant and other options are nearby, so it's not a huge issue, just seemed unusual (i think every other hotel/apartment we stayed at during this trip included some type of coffee option in the room).

We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Caprice. Alex, the host, is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. He (and the entire staff) gave us invaluable advice that positively contributed to our vacation (our first to Grindelwald). We liked the spa (agree with the other commenter who said it’s nice for a three-star property) and the location is superb. The breakfast added even more value - the cheeses and breads are delicious, and we loved the oatmeal, too!

The room was a little small, so we definitely recommend taking time to unpack your belongings. Also, the balcony view was just okay - but not the end of the world since the breakfast room view is fantastic and you’re outside all day anyway!

Breakfast did not come with a wide range of options, but came with a variety of cheese, bread and they were sooooo good!!! Also eggs tasted really good. It was freezing on the first day so I thought I was going to get sick but then I found out that there was sauna. Sauna facility was brand new and superb!!! Sauna was so relaxing that I never had such a good night sleep this year! Highly highly recommended especially when it's cold!!

Bathrobes and use of a microwave cost CHF 5 each. There is no hot water in the room so it has to be requested separately which can be a little cumbersome for both the guest and the staff.

The hotel was ideally situated about a 1.5 minute walk from the train station that took us to the Terminal, where the gondolas and ski lockers were. Also a 2-3 minute walk to restauants, ski rental and other stores. Our rooms were all very nice, newly renovated and extremely clean. Beds and bedding was perfect. Hosts were friendly and helpful with any questions we had. the breakfast was excellent, lots of choices and the breads and cheeses heavenly! We were so happy with our choice of hotel and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Just the snow quality, but no one can control that

The Caprice is a hidden gem. A short walk above Grindelwald railway station the hotel is close enough to ALL transport systems but in a quiet spot. The rooms are clean and comfortable with new modern bathroom facilities. There is a wonderful view of the Eiger North Face from the balcony. The reception area doubles up as a cosy traditional lounge with a small bar. Plus the hotel has an ultra modern 5* spa with spa pool, sauna and steam rooms - Absolutely brilliant! Oh - and breakfast was great too😊

The decor in the hotel was adorable. It was so welcoming and comfortable from the front door. Our room was clean, comfortable, and welcoming as well. We had information packets, suggestions, fresh water, and cute little Toblerone treats to welcome us to our room. The breakfast in the morning was phenomenal with great food, helpful staff, and a beautiful view. The included spa was also amazing! My husband and I visited the spa after dinner both nights between 9-10 and had no other people there! Facilities are great!

I thought I saw a cold plunge pool on the website, so I was anticipating a plunge pool at the spa, but there was not one. This was not a big deal and there was a cold "rain" shower available for a temperature shift. I also wish that the hotel served dinner; but we ate at the nearby Alpina restaurant, and it was absolutely fantastic! We would have liked a tea kettle in the room as we had to go down to the bar at reception for hot water (which really was not a big deal). Altogether, we had a wonderful stay at this hotel!

Excellent location, views from the balcony were amazing. The hotel staff were all friendly and helpful, we were even picked up from the station on arrival. The spa area was beautiful and the rooms were a good size too. Everything in Grindelwald was within walking distance. Overall an excellent 5 day stay, we will definitely return.

I'd like to list many things so that there will be a room available when I next want to visit, but there really was nothing to dislike about Hotel Caprice.

The hotel had such an amazing spa area. I didn't realise how many saunas there were until I got there. It was a Saturday night and I had the spa all for myself, enjoyed several saunas as well as jacuzzi. Breakfast was also good, they had so many options to choose from. The staff was helpful and friendly, despite me making a last minute booking only after I got to Grindelwald.

Would have loved to stay in a room with a better view, however I do understand that I made a same day booking. And the spa really made the price of the hotel fair.
