Bern Youth Hostel

Really clean hostel in a great location. Nice common area and public transport and breakfast included. Female dorm was very spacious and had it‘s own bathroom sink and mirror. It has a nice common area. The staff was really helpful. Great price-value.

A kitchen or opportunity to store food would have been really nice. As people pointed out before it doesn’t match backpackers needs 100% because there were a lot of school classes and other people in the dorm from different ages so it‘s not the place to meet other young travelers or cook.

Beautiful view from windows. Peaceful atmosphere. Clean bedsheets and not white like usually you find in hotels. Warm water from taps and delicious food at a dining room. Friendly and helpful stuff. Good location close to bus stops and to main train station. Close shops, restaurants, parks and once again, close to viewing point which is just breathtaking! Close to museums as well as to river and swimming pools.

I think the only thing was people waking up at 6 am getting ready for the day even though on that morning I was the only one who was in the rush to get back to airport yet I hoped to sleep till 8… I asked few people ab the reason and no one was same as mine, mostly leisure.

Great breakfast buffet, better than I remember from 2019, when I stayed there before. The room is very big and I didn't have issues finding a shower or toilet when I wanted to. The location close to the Märzlibahn and the city centre is great and easy to get to. I'd also love if all cities would provide people taking a room there with public transport tickets. The beds are also more comfortable than I expected at a youth hostel. Wifi and usb plugs at every bed also were very helpful.

In the 8 person bedroom only 6 of 8 lockers had a door. While nothing was stolen, this is not really geeat and while the lockers itself are well made to be closes with your keycard, it is not a great thing if 25% of people in the room don't have access to one.

The location is perfect, it's right by the river that passes in the middle of Bern. Also it's right by the old town and the train station !! you won't even need to take no transportations to visit the main things of the city. The breakfast was great, everything seemed to be fresh and local, i was impressed that it had better quality than actual hotels i've visited before. The owners are very friendly and so cool. The staff is also very nice.

It seemed to be crowded a bit and there's no privacy in the beds, it also didn't have functionning charging ports near the bed i had. And being on road.. you need your phone on full juice. I wished if there's also an option for late dinner as the kitchen closes quite early and also most restaurants in tve region. I slept on an empty stomach 🥲

Perfect location. Quiet, in nature but 5 mins walking to the centre. The staff is amazing!!! Breakfast is at the level of a 4 star hotel, it means really good.

The room was tiny and smelled weird and couldn't be aired out. The showers are like in Morocco. Mold on the ceiling, hair in the drain, and you are standing on bare concrete. (enough hot water!). Parking - if you are lucky and get a place on their 5-space car park, then it is perfect and costs 10 chf/day. Make a reservation!!!! Otherwise you have to park on street and pay 16 chf/day (reception helps).

Simple dorms, reception staff were friendly, decent breakfast and restaurant for lunch and dinner. There was a chill area which was comfy and easy to work from if it’s busy.

The bathrooms and showers were smelly and always missing toilet paper or not clean. The showers are not practical there is a divide with a shower curtain so everything gets wet and no where to put your things. The price of the hostel.

I Just Loved it. Starting from the location which is very close to city center and at the same time away from traffic, crowded places. You can reach the hostel easily by using the Cable Car (Bern Marzili). The Hostel is located in a very Green Area and next to Aare River and the small park next to it where you can enjoy picnic there, setting next to river or even swimming. The Hostel is brand new and has nice interior design and decoration. The Room was spacious enough to put your luggage although you can have also a locker inside the room if you want to put small luggage or personal items. The toilets were always available and clean and same for the showers. The Breakfast was good with a lot of variety, and I have booked also a dinner there and it was really good as quality, taste and price. The Wi-Fi signal was really good. The bed was comfortable for me. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and they gave me a lot of recommendations. And remember to check your email and activate the guest card the hostel sends for you because you can use it to access public transportation for free and you have discounts in many places using this guest card. Very friendly personell.

Very noisy in the night, die to traffic and drunken people on the street. Rooms are very basic and bare including bedlinen. Decorations on the wall would make it more aggreeable.

Breakfast included and there was a nice breakfast area. Location was close to main sites. The locker area was in an adjacent room directly outside of the sleeping area, which was nice for not waking up others in the room. The locker room also had a sink which was nice. The shared showers and toilet rooms were fine. The electronic lockers worked great The 8-bed dorm was a good size and actually had some space.

Could add curtains to the beds for more privacy. Need more outlets near beds. Staff could have been a bit more friendly

Loved this hostel, good bedding, comfy beds. Friendly staff at reception/cafe area. Amazing fries from the canteen. Lockers away from beds - good set up. Located beside a beautiful lake. Great breakfast.

Sadly the bed side charges didn’t work, otherwise would have scored a 10. This to me is probably one of the most important things when travelling, not running out of charge.
