Hunter's Country House

Incredible resort. Not far from Plettenberg Bay we found ourselves immersed in a world away from the city. A parenthesis of serenity and peace. Welcomed very well by the super friendly and knowledgeable staff, we felt pampered and loved right from the start. Very spacious and cozy room with everything you need to relax. Upon arrival a good bottle of white wine to welcome us as well as a handwritten letter from the staff. In the evening while you are at dinner they come by to rearrange your bed, leave a treat and a hot water boulle to warm your feet with. As well as the classic good night note. We tried two of the three restaurants definitely good and with several focused choices. Interesting wine list with many South African choices of course. Breakfast buffet and a la carte. Thank you very much We will be back Definitely

The rooms smelled a bit musty. Definitely the rains at the time we stayed did not help.

The stunning gardens .. the walk around the property .. the wild deer .. the outdoor gym area my husband loved . The ability to walk to the restaurants .the manageress at Zinzi called El deserves a mention and treated as us a stars .

Our bathroom shower was a tad dated but had a powerful shower . Our aircon machine broke down on a Sunday and though we were given a fan the problems hadn’t been fixed when we left 4 days later . The fridge made a constant buzz throughout the day and night .. however the over all hotel is fabulous !! They could also have made sure the fridges at the gym And yoga room were stocked with water bottles.

Our little lodge was stunning, it was cosy and private. We were surrounded by the animals & wildlife. The on site restaurant (Zinzi’s) that we visited was lovely & conveniently located. Breakfast was in a beautiful conservatory in the main house and the quality of food was very good. At night during the time down service, hot water bottles were placed in our bed and the fire was lit, which was a lovely touch given how cold it got.

Unfortunately our room telephone didn’t work so when we arrived for example our cafeteria was cracked so we had to head to reception to ask for a replacement. The same for a few evenings when we returned for the evening and wanted the fire lighting, due to our room phone not working, we repeatedly had to walk to the main house in the rain to request the fire be lit etc. This is obviously such a first world problem and really isn’t the end of the world. We did mention it to the very helpful and lovely staff who said they would look into the issue with the phone in the room as apparently it was ringing for us but not their end.

The hotel is set within the most beautiful gardens, with paths winding through lawns to individual thatched villas. Throughout our 3-days at Hunters, we were treated like royalty and nothing was too much trouble. Our Villa (Kimassi No.3) was luxurious without being ostentatious, with antique wood furniture & the softest bed linen. We loved the special touch of returning to a crackling fire after dinner.

That we were only there for 3 days

This was the most welcomed I have ever felt at a local establishment with the most attuned and friendly staff imaginable. The premises are gorgeous. The food is near perfect. The rooms are spacious and extremely well decorated. They accommodated and made my family feel safe and comfortable and that is foremost what is most important to me. The staff sincerely friendly. Locals and international guests would feel extremely welcome. The location is great for visiting many nearby attractions. It is quiet and serene. Happy guest here.

It would be hard to find something. I would have to nitpick. Maybe dinner could be served earlier to accommodate small children, but it wasn't ever too late to meet bedtimes ;) custodial staff are still getting the hang of things, but again, this is nitpicking, this place is luxurious and welcoming.

We were welcoming by the friendliest staff as soon as we arrived at Hunters Country House! The hotel is set in beautiful gardens and is quite and peaceful. Our room was gorgeous, clean and comfy. The breakfast was amazing, with a great buffet selection and choice of hot/cooked. The pool & other facilities were lovely and the dinner at the hotel restaurant was delicious. Would love to return!

You get what you pay for. The knockout combination of luxurious accommodation, beautiful grounds, Zinzi's Restaurant and breakfast in the Conservatory is hard to beat. One day I will stay for 3 nights, walk the grounds more extensively and do all three restaurants.

You can just hear the traffic on the N2, but that maybe because too many trees blew over that once provided a sound barrier. It wasn't enough to spoil anything.

The staff were amazing and couldnt do enough for you. The Yoga room was set out to watch the rugby world cup final and again the staff were excellent.

It was unusually cold during our stay, so our room was very cold however the staff had the fire on in our room for our return which was a nice touch.

The staff were super friendly and really went the extra mile. Cold selection of breakfast such as the fruit and the delightful jams were great. Liked that the TV was a smart TV so we could watch on our media platforms.

The breakfast cold selection was lovely but the warm selection was a very small portion. There are 3 restaurants to choose from on site however there wasn't much that catered for a simple palate.

The hotel is in a beautiful location between Plettenberg and Knysna and easy driving to both The place is lovely and the staff were so kind and helpful There is a choice of three restaurants - the one in the hotel but also short safe walks through the grounds to Zinzi and the Tsala treetops restaurant All are very good and reasonably priced
