La Splendida Hotel by NEWMARK

This hotel is in a fantastic location and our room had a wonderful view overlooking the park and signal hill. Room was larger than most in the area and bed was super comfy. It also had a vibey restaurant downstairs, which was great as one could still get drinks and food quite late and there was a great atmosphere. Despite the restaurant, it's worth mentioning that this did not bother us at all and our room was quiet. I would definitely stay here again!

Not a negative but something to be aware of is that there is limited private parking. We were lucky to get a spot inside, but during peak times, one may be required to park on the street. Area is relatively safe so not a major issue. Something else to be aware of is that our room only had a single 2-pin plug point which was broken so we couldn't charge our phones. We only stayed one evening so it didn't really affect us and as such, we didn't even bother to ask for an adaptor. However, this is something to keep in mind, and bring along, if you have a lot of 2-pin electronics. There was also no water provided, but for the low nightly rate, we were happy to purchase water downstairs. Despite some small inconveniences, we would happily stay here again.

Rooms 5/5 Service 5/5 Location 5/5 Hotel highlights - Great view · Kid-friendly. Rooms - My seaview room was spacious and with a fabulous view of the sea. It is also very clean and the staff operate a great service. Nearby activities - A beautiful lighthouse is about a 3min walk and it's operational and lovely. Safety - This hotel is set on the promenade and I've walked around most of it in the daytime – it has been totally safe and at no time at all did I feel unsafe. I am a man so this may be slightly different for others. Food & drinks - The food and drinks served by the staff are fabulous and tasty. I've been through most of the red wines here. They are very well priced and there are some pure delights. I am not going to comment on specific ones as you need to go through the menu yourself. The staff are also excellent. This is such a slick and professional establishment, it's unbeatable. ******************** FYI some time ago I was fortunate enough to stay at the Waldorf-Astoria New York. Don't get me wrong, the Waldorf A. is an exceptional hotel, but in terms of service, location and the professionalism and friendliness of the staff, the Splendida is better. I have absolutely no problem recommending this hotel, and if anything is slightly off (which I doubt it will be), when you're there, mention it to any one of the staff and it will be fixed with an apology and a smile.

Some of the bedding could have been been newer or mended.

We just love the location and the vibe of the Hotel.Staff are very friendly, rooms especially the sea facing are lovely, food is good, I just felt the Hotel needs a bit of TLC

We booked through Bookings.com and ended up paying way more than what we would have paid had we booked direct at the hotel which we were very annoyed about. The bank charged us an international fee for bank charges which meant they charged us international on our credit card and refused to reverse it. We will never ever use them again and that just soured our stay

Room 306 is definitely a great room to stay in. Hotel reception were very inviting throughout my entire visit. I even extended my stay because they are that good. There’s a Mediterranean restaurant downstairs (with a great view of the ocean), which is helpful if you need a quick bite or drink. The sunsets here are breathtaking. For anyone who wants to catch the sightseeing bus, there’s a bus stop right across the road. The waiters at the restaurant are really helpful too.

The couches are worn out, but still comfortable enough. The restaurant downstairs could add a bit more plant-based options (that aren’t tapas).

I liked the location and the kindness of the staff. everyone was ready to help. i liked how safe i felt in the area and the nearness to different bars and restaurants.

the towels seemed old, everytime they changed my towels it came with a stain. The cigarette smell in my room never seemed to go away even after room service provided a steamer like thingy....also there was no colgate/toothpaste

ROOM 302 : we booked our SUPERIOR SUITE through Booking.com based on the SEA-FACING room pictures which appear on the website for a Superior Suite BUT were given a SIDE superior suite and upon enquiry with the front desk were told that there is only ONE front facing superior suite, the rest are all side facing. This is misleading ! This fact should be highlighted on Booking.com so as to avoid disappointment and one's expectations not being met. Superior suites should definitely have KINGSIZE beds. The laminate floor looks very tired and needs to be repaired or replaced. There should definitely be two chairs and a small table on all the verandahs to relax and enjoy private sundowners, a cup of coffee, a chat or read a book.

Clean and very comfortable, great linen and towels. The staff are exceptional. Great location!

The restaurant has the most annoying thump thump thump as background noise!!!! The food is good, but I recommend the excellent restaurant next door - The Butcher Shop, for a better dining experience

Everything was as good as it was with our 3 previous visits the last few years.

Our only niggle was the parking safety concern due to the gate often standing open due to gate remote issues. We usually used to have our own remote but this time there was a shortage of working ones. It's not crucial to have our own one as we hardly used our motor bike during our stay - mostly Uber or walk. Our concern was the security of the parking area with the gate not closing automatically and thus leave parked vehicles vulnerable.

Great position on the Atlantic Seaboard. Close to the Waterfront. Opposite the Green Point Park
