Sotavento Hotel & Yacht Club

It was clean.

The towels were frayed, the location was poor, the taxi service they called charged double what others charge (the taxi driver even gave the clerk her commission while I watched). The wait staff included a 20% tip for themselves on the restaurant bill, which I only discovered after insisting on seeing the bill since my change was much less than I calculated. (BTW - I'm not cheap, I will normally tip 15%-20% - I don't like being told that's what my gratuity is). No internet in the room (I expected this).

We felt very comfortable and very safe. Nice old school basic hotel with a great location.

The pool could have been a lot cleaner. Yes it is surrounded by gorgeous trees and plants but it wasn't the leaves floating (just a few and we saw the staff fishing them out every morning) but how merky the water always was and it didn't look like the filters were in use to be honest. We found a chewing gum glued to the head board of our bed upon arrival. Sorry but this is unacceptable. Would have been great to have good internet in the rooms but at least the hotel is honest about it and it both mentions it on the website and at reception.

The room was great, just as expected the patio area was nice. We did get to see wildlife, life racoons in the trees.

The location is not the best. Its basically at the opposite end of the hotel zone and not walkable to the bars and restaurants. It wasn't too bad just a bus ride, straight shot to the entertainment area. We also did not like that there was no floor mat when you get out of the shower. We had to place a towel on the floor which was also a problem because they only gave us two towels

During my recent stay at Sotavento hotel, I was impressed by the high level of customer service provided by the staff. The tours lady at the front desk was especially helpful, going above and beyond to ensure that my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. When I had difficulty communicating with my shuttle service to the airport, the tours lady at the front desk spent over an hour helping me to resolve the issue. She was patient and attentive, taking the time to understand my concerns and working diligently to find a solution. Throughout my stay, the staff at Sotavento hotel were friendly and accommodating. They were always available to answer questions and provide recommendations for local attractions and restaurants. The hotel itself was clean and well-maintained, with comfortable rooms and a range of amenities to suit all travelers. Overall, I highly recommend Sotavento hotel to anyone looking for a pleasant and hassle-free stay in the area. The staff's commitment to customer service, and in particular the tours lady at the front desk, was outstanding and made my experience truly memorable.

no wifi in the rooms

I'm a multiple repeat guest so I know what to expect and know that Sotoventa is an excellent value for the money. It is, however, not for the average tourist. The hotel staff is kind and genteel but they are neither fast nor efficient. Raccoons may try to open your patio door at night if you don't shut them properly. It's also a yacht club, so occasionally a boat owner may blare his stereo at 1:00am. The hotel wifi works really well......in the hotel lobby, it does not reach your room unless you are in A-C stairwells. With that said, it has old Cancun charm, it's a great location away from the tourists but inside the tourist zone. I love it.

The hotel restaurant has sub-par food, the prices are fair. Install wifi repeaters? That's too easy.

Price was good, very spacious room, good beds - I had a twin room and both were queen size. Bathroom was large, A/C worked, though some mosquitos made it into the room. The pool area was good, tv worked. good parking provision

Check in and check out took a long time, so plan accordingly. There wasn't any hot water in the shower, though this was fine with the temperature. Location is a long way from airport, taxi very very expensive, recommend rental car. Hotel located on a one way cul de sac off main road, so can be long getting in and out. In hotel restaurant also closed before advertised though there are many options to eat within 2 mins walk.

Very pleasant hotel with beautifully lush tropical garden and nice pool. It's located on a quiet street, so no noise problems from traffic or bars or so. It has a spacious outside restaurant, were we enjoyed their nice and affordable breakfasts (we booked the room without the breakfast included, as we like to choose from the menu instead of having the same "american breakfast" in each hotel). Also nice for drinks in the afternoon.

The music in the restaurant is maybe a bit too loud, which also reaches nearby rooms.

very clean. very tropical gardens.

entrance is very very bad n unpleasant looking. broken cement pieces and rocks at the entrance and curbsides, very uneven and bad to bring luggage in and to walk on as well as uneven walkway to rooms. needs tiles n not cement. bathroom door needs oil on hinge’s, noise all the time. TV was broken n had to be replaced. reception person was always helpful but moody and not happy or pleasant most time like most hotels in the area.

PURA SELVA. Every guest walks through a tropical paradise covered in tropical trees and singing birds to reach their room. The rooms have no refrigerator so I rang general manager, Victor Carrillo - who organised a portable fishing cooler packed full of ice (replenished) and they do bottled water every day too. Roger looked after us in a manner described as "puro milagro" - absolutely miraculous. The soaps they use are the high-end ones. What a great experience. BEST VALUE FOR $$$ in Cancun

The hotel is situated 300 feet off the main road ensuring silence at a tropical marine. There is no other place like this. COVERED in tropical palms and trees. Our windows had view only of the jungle- a rare sight in Can Cun

we stayed for a week, location was okay, nothing much around property but within two mins from a bus stop that takes you anywhere. bus cheap amd literally come every two minutes . food was nice enough. beds so comfy. very peaceful hotel and staff were were very friendly. right next to water so lots of lovely fish to see.

i liked everything. only problem was it is all covered by trees so not a lot of room too sunbathe! well lots of room but mostly sheltered by trees.
