Mayan Monkey Cancun

I really loved everything in this place, my first time here was 5 years ago, and only stay there for 1 night, but this time I booked 3 nights and while I was there I decided to book 2 nights more because I was having such a great time. It’s such an incredible place to make new friends, to party and also is very well located right in front of the beach and if you want to go to the clubs you can also walk! I loved every second of it.

I went to the hostel solo and enjoyed my stay immensely. Great staff, clean, modern, beds comfortable, lockers available. I also ordered breakfast, which wasn't exceptional, but I was glad I didn't have to worry about anything, for $5/day it's worth it. The hostel is close to restaurants, clubs, shops and beaches. There's also a bus that takes you all over the hotel zone for about 12 pesos. I definitely recommend visiting Isla Mujeres, simply beautiful place, gorgeous sea. Every day there is an event at the hostel in the evening, so it's lively. I met a lot of people who made my holiday unforgettable. I have to mention the bartender Christian who made me great drinks the whole stay. I thank the hostel for everything and look forward to coming back again.

The only thing that can be annoying is the loud music from the bar that can be heard in the rooms. But I was so tired that it didn't bother me.

The Hostel was very well furnished, and the bar and common area were lovely. The dorm was large and bright and had air conditioning which was much needed. The food from the hostel was delicious, however a little bit expensive. The organised activities and happy hour in the evenings were so much fun and a great way to meet new people.

The kitchen was not the cleanest and the fridges were packed overly full. The kitchen also lacked a kettle, which made cooking difficult. The hostel is fairly loud late at night as the bar continues to play music that can be heard from the dorms.

It’s set up really cool, great location, interactive games to have guest get to know eachother at the bar/club onsite. YOU WILL NOT SLEEP until after 2am, and is only reason I gave it lower score.

the noise was a nightmare! I expected it from the club music & brought ear plugs, but the other guest sharing the bunks were even worse. No body cared others were sleeping and were up drunk screaming and laughing until 2am right next to my ear while we were trying to sleep. they should have rules about the bunk areas or at least remind at check in that after 11/12 to be respectful of other people paying to sleep there

Awesome location, supermarket across the road, 2 minutes walk to the beach, 2 minutes to the clubs. A bus drives between hotel zone and downtown. The trip takes about 10- 15 minutes. They arrange activities and there's a nice bar area where a lot of people hang for breakfast or during the day. It's a place where you meet new people very easy. Breakfast is basic but good enough. You can prepare your own meals if you want and can use the fridge. Facilities are clean. And then there is this crocodile in the lagoon which hangs around the bar area all the time because the hostel feeds it. A lot of different people and ages which i liked as well. I recommend this hostel to anyone that wants to visit Cancun for a reasonable price.

Some of the games were a bit too much for me, but you do not have to participate if it's not for you.

Location was pretty good! Close by to Playa Chac Mool, Surfin Burrito, and more! It wasn't hard to walk to Coco Bongo, the base for Xcaret, and the ferry to Isla Mujeres. Lots of options to go around the city. The stay itself was great! The staff were always very helpful and accomodating. The breakfast was awesome as well -- I felt the value was great. The activities that the hotel held as well as the tours available were always fun and easy! Other travelers were courteous and fun to hang out with. The overall atmosphere was awesome, definitely would stay again if I went to Cancun or the other cities where they have locations.

Could be a pro/con depending on how you see it/what your plans are, but the music goes on until pretty late. There were nights that it went on until about 1am/2am. Didn't really bother me because I can sleep through it, but it could be pretty loud for those who are sensitive.

That was a great value overall for that location. Even though it was not perfect in terms of condition, the design and thought behind it is great. The staff was really friendly and flexible, they have helped us a lot when we needed to extend our stay or add additional people to our booking. We also liked the crocodile that we were lucky to witness when it swam by hoping to get some snack. The place has a nice bar and they throw parties almost every night.

It was a little too noisy. It really depends on which room you get, but even if you get a personal room, it can be noisy because of the people coming back and forth or partying at night. Also we were leaving early and ordered breakfast but the staff forgot to prepare it for us. But that all was really minor things for us and overall experience was AWESOME and we would love to stay there again!

Great location near to the beach and overlooking the lagoon (keep your eyes out for the crocs!). Friendly staff, some of whom were more helpful than others. Good breakfast available - makes sense to pre-pay for this option when you check in, though this wasn't clearly communicated to me what was included & I only figured it out during my stay.

As with any dorm stay, it depends on your roommates - I was unlucky and had a bad experience with drunk roommates, and feel that it could have been handled better by the staff. The cleaning in the bathroom in our room was sub-par as well - not sure if anything was actually getting cleaned during my stay!

What a fun place! Great atmosphere, super kind and helpful staff, breakfast that comes with booking is ok, a simple breakfast to start the day. Location is amazing. Beds are ok, functional, and good lockers. Lots of activities and DJ nights, best place on the hotel strip to make friends. Yoga in the morning was awesome. The spaces are clean, they give you lots of clean towels, felt safe in the space too. Highly recommend!

More mats for the showers would be good, the floor gets soaked quickly. We booked a trip through the hostel website that got cancelled and no one told us anything, we woke up at 6am and waited till 7am and finally the front desk called about it, it was too late to book anything for that day. But the front desk staff are amazing, very patient and very kind and helpful, they booked us another trip for the next day which ended up being very special. In the future I will just book a trip directly with the hostel when I arrive.

Loved the location! Right next to the lagoon and 100m from the beach, amazing! The computer/work room was a massive bonus as I had some work to do and needed quiet. So many places to just "chill"/relax, many couches and seats throughout the hostel. Loved the laundry service, good value for money. The bar and staff (Christian!!) were wonderful. Music was off from about midnight. The bathrooms were cleaned twice a day, if I recall correctly – very clean!

Aircon was set at 26 degrees celsius CONTINUOUSLY in the dorms and computer room. Fortunately, the reception has blankets for such moments, one does not need to freeze while sleeping. The doors are EXTREMELY loud, be prepared to wake up at all hours of the night when your roommates come and go.
