Holiday Villa Beach Resort & Spa Langkawi

We booked this hotel because of its beachfront location and the beach was really beautiful and quiet, with plenty of sun beds. The gardens/grounds of the hotel are so pretty, and well maintained. There are also plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance.

The room and bathroom were very dated and in need of renovation, the bed and pillows were not very comfortable. The beach bar is overpriced and rated poorly, we didn't see anyone use it. The hotel could make better use of it.

Having the beach directly in front of the hotel was wonderful. There were plenty of wooden sunbeds and simple beach bar. The beach was quite clean and at low tide you can walk quite far. Breakfast was OK with Western and Asian food, including a lot of fuit. Coffee was fair.

The Booking.com images were misleading to show the large infinity pool (looking over the beach) and promoting 2 pools, because there was an additional daily charge for guests to use it. For the cost of the stay, I found this to be absurd. The other pool behind it without the view was fine, At times, there were no cushions for the wooden sunbeds or umbrella shade available at the beach. There was a bottle of water provided daily - not enough for 2 people - but other hotels we have stayed had free filtered water to refill which I suggest

A well designed low-rise hotel with wonderful gardens supporting a lot of local wildlife including the white-collared blue kingfishers. It has a sparkling clean pool, great beach, very pretty large lobby area and helpful, friendly staff. The beds were clean and comfortable and each of our two rooms had a convenient seating area with large glass coffee tables. We also had a table and chairs on the balcony, from which we could enjoy the views of the pool, beach and spectacular sunsets.

Although very well maintained by its current staff, the hotel is starting to show its age (built in 1992). The air conditioning units in our rooms were noisy and had slightly unreliable thermostatic controls. We often got too cold sleeping with the air conditioning units on and had to turn them off occasionally in the middle of the night. Also, the locks on the French doors to the balconies didn’t seem that secure.

Close to the beach and the cenang activities area

The room that we got (studio) does not have bath tub although the picture of the room that we choose have the bathtub in it. It is a misdirection to us and influencing us to choose the room. The bathtub is one of the reasons that we choose the hotel and the room, and we were unhappy as being told that it does not have bathtub. Please change it as it will misdirect others in future.

The pool, beach, gardens, lawns and the spa club. Plenty of space and sunbeds with shade from tree. Not crowded at all. Clean and tidy. Nice cafe near lobby, but could be made more welcoming. Music was loud but staff turned it down when requested. Hotel is generaly is well appointed, but ready for some modernisation. Netflix availability was useful. Wifi was good everywhere.

The beach bar did not offer ice-cream. There should be waiter service asking customers by pool and beach if they would like drinks or snacks brought to them. Not just passively wait for reisdents to come to order. Also, when hotel is not very busy (guess was only 30% occupancy during my stay) a complimentary room upgrade should be offered. The spa club, whilst reasonably priced, should be available free of charge to all residents staying longer than 3/4 nights, but remain adults only. This would be good incentive to extend stay.

The location was great. We did not take the breakfast.

The air-conditioning was not working properly so I had to complain. The pillow was thick One of the toilet sink was blocking (we booked two rooms). There was pee smell around the toilet with blocked sink drain.

Excellent value, beautiful location, amazing view from the room, perfect beach, decent bar and food for most budgets. Restaurants, laundry, bike rentals and convenience stores/ liquor nearby. A bit off the main area... nice and quiet.

Cocktails were slightly over-priced.

Pool view room. Stayed under this banner (Holiday & federal) on about 10 occasions over the years. Many of the same staff are employed and remember the face.....so rate that highly in this business. We don't have breakfast, too expensive for minimalist breakfasters like us. Be good for big eaters and stayers but we like to get out and about. Room was spacious and provided all we needed and then the pool...... great for exercise and swimming, fantastic, clean, spacious and the pool staff excel in making your stay very memorable with good memory of my other visits and delivery of towels. My last visit was concluded in a wheelchair and the staff were so helpful in every respect.

Leaving !!!! :) This is my spiritual home and I just like coming back. Cactus and other places to eat nearby make it a bit special. Too old to play tennis now but courts look very good and if you can play, you should. Table Tennis near the restaurant is good too.
