Hotel Ipanema

The hotel is well located, close to the cable car to the city center. The view is awesome, I could see the sunrise from my room. Staff is so friendly. They offer a possibility to access a private beach club, but there is a fee (12 euros). First I thought that was expensive, however, it is included the sun umbrella, transportation to the local (5min) and the beach and club are super nice. Also, to rent an umbrela in any beach there is way more expensive.

The breakfast could have more options and fresh fruits.

ipanema hotel is placed in the very nice area just 10 minutes from Isola Bella. Hotel itself is not the newest- furnitures are quite old as well as equipment. it is clean I must say. Stuff is very helpful and friendly. pool is nice but sun beds and umbrellas are really old. breakfast is fine, but for 4 stars hotel we missed fresh fruits, more than 1 cheese and, the most important, good Coffee. Coffee was very bad like instant and this is Italy!!! in general big plus for location

An old fashioned hotel with traditional high service standards. Perfect position between sea and town near to cable car to get to town. The rooms were a good size and had small charming balconies, with views out to sea. Bathrooms dated but very functional always plenty of hot water and good plumbing. There was the essential fridge in the room. The staff were friendly and helpful especially Christina on reception. The dining room was run incredibly efficiently by the four waiting gentlemen. The food was a simple,wholesome and plentiful affair, with fish always on the menu. There was a small pool and a large solarium area on the roof with fabulous views out to sea.

Dangerous entry and exit to hotel, near a bend and no foot path on a fast road with constant traffic. The pool area was small and in need of updating. I had advised the hotel that we were celebrating a significant wedding anniversary during our stay but no mention was made. We were not advised prior to our stay that the hotels private beach would be closed.

The staff are fabulous, nothing is too much trouble for them, from the wonderful receptionist Maria, to the engmatic bar manager, Mario. The rooms are excellent value for peak season as is the optional evening meal, which is 3 courses for €25 and beautifully served at the table. The wine is also good value, very decent Nero d'avola at €22 per bottle is excellent for a hotel or restaurant. The pool area is ok for a dip but somewhat cramped. The level below is much bigger and would have been a much better choice for the pool area. There are 2 mini markets a minute down the road for pretty much anything you would like which is really handy, as it's the cable car to Taormina town, at €10 return in summer. We got lucky with one of the 6 parking spaces, but if you miss one, parking is an absolute nightmare. We didn't move the car at all while there! All in all a recommended hotel if you want to stay in Taormina.

Lack of snacks and drinks on the roof top. Just someone popping up every half hour to see if anyone wants them would make a lot of difference and be more lucrative for the hotel. The position is near the steps to two 'beaches'. I put this in apostrophes as the one that looks amazing from above and in pics is just big pebbles and absolutely rammed with people at the end of August, unpleasantly so. We didn't stay on either of them, though the one to the left looking out to sea is a little better but not really my idea of a good beach at all. Also anywhere with a sea view is expensive. All this is nothing to do with the hotel of course, but worth pointing out all the same.

Clean & comfortable hotel typical Italian style decor. And a great view of the Mediterranean Sea from the hotels roof top area with a pool . The breakfast was lovely & the staff in the breakfast dining room were friendly but did not speak English very well which is not really a big deal just very hard to understand them. They did a fantastic job in the dining room. The location was perfect only 4 min walk to the cable cars to take you into town & only 3 euro each way .. and a little mini market down the road only 2 min walk from hotel which was handy for little essentials like water & fruit. The beach is also only minutes away across the road . It was a very pleasant stay !

Not enough car spaces if your rent a car. Such a huge hotel & only 6 car spaces & very very tight .. So it’s pot luck most times . It’s actually quite frustrating & a disappointment ! There’s a car parking bay down the road near the cable cars that you might find a parking spot for a fee but once again it gets quite full with all the beach comers for the day so once again you are driving around in circles to find a car spot .

Very friendly and helpful staff. We were half board so had breakfast and dinner in the hotel. Breakfast was normal continental breakfast. Evening meal was 3 courses. Food was lovely. Meals plated at the table by your waiter. Lovely experience. Hotel is clean and comfortable. Nice facilities. Private beach is lovely.

The pool is up a steep set of stairs which is not good for people with limited mobility. There is no shade over the top part of the stairs so the hand rails are scorching hot and can’t be used if you are unsteady on your feet. Mattresses were brick hard.

Great location nearby the beach and Isola Bella. It's also really easy to get to the old town of Taormina by cable car which is a few hundred metres down the road and only costs a few euros each way.

The hotel is definitely dated and could do with a refresh. Old furniture and peeling paint etc. The pool is pretty tatty too. We didn't use the hotels beach club as it was a bit restrictive with shuttle times to/from the hotel. Wifi is only available in the hotel lobby which isn't great.

Clean, comfortable and well equipped! My room got cleaned every day during my stay. Staffs were extremely friendly and helpful. They’ve got information on bus/train, day trips ready for you to explore. Cable car (funivia) is 3-5 mins walk away, with that you get to Taormina historical centre. Isola bella is a stone’s throw away.

view is spectacular! Very comfortable and spacious. Breakfast had a great variety of cold cuts, breads, cereals and yoghurt. Pool was great. Conveniently located 5min from the cable car station for easy access to Taormina historic town center. 15mins walk to the beach

Wi-Fi only works in reception area. No towels provided for the pool. No private beach access despite it being mentioned on the website.

Staff were super helpful and friendly. Seemed more catered to couples and older groups rather than children and young families which was great. Great location. Bar was great.

Slightly dated decor, broken tiles in bedroom and terrace, mattresses very hard, sun loungers by the pool were broken and not enough umbrellas to get shade.
