Leon Bianco

We enjoyed our stay here in a room that looked over the valley rather than on the square. We chose this room as it was quieter and had large opening windows and lounge chairs to enjoy the view from. The bathroom was roomy for European standards and also had an opening window which is a bonus. The rooms were freshened each day. The hotel is well located on the square in the centre of San Gimingnano and we were able to drive into the hotel (follow directions from the hotel, not google maps) to drop off luggage and then park in carpark #3 which was a relatively easy 10 minute walk back to hotel. We were able to do the same to pick up luggage when we left. We happened to be in San Gimingnano on the weekend of the medieval festival, so the valley view rooms were definitely quieter than the ones onto the square, but fun to see all the activities related to the festival. We drove out during the day to wine tastings and other villages and returned in the evening when it was quieter. Especially enjoyed La Guardestelle winery for a wine tasting and lunch but do book. The breakfast at Leon Banco was typical European style and we were able to enjoy being out on the covered terrace. We only ate here once as we did feel it was expensive and we enjoyed trying other cafes rather than eating in the hotel, but handy and definitely adequate if you prefer to eat in. The hotel helped us to book a couple of places for dinner which were both excellent - La Vecchie Mira, an outdoor dining terrace with lovely meal and Dulcisinfundo, a family run restaurant with good food and a nice atmosphere. Divinorum Wine Bar is also a good spot for a late afternoon aperitif with valley views. We had booked a dinner at Fattoria Poggio Alloro farmstead where we enjoyed this shared tables experience with lovely views back to San G. Plenty to do if you enjoy wineries and food around this area.

Lovely, spacious room in the heart of San Gimignano. Fantastic view over the square. Extremely comfortable.

A stressful drive to reach the hotel which is within the town walls. We had a large SUV vehicle which was difficult to negotiate the very narrow arch on way in. On departure, we chose to wheel our cases out on foot to carpark. Booking.com stated a free shuttle service available to and from public parking every day from 9.30 to 12.30. We asked at hotel reception & they stated this was incorrect & no such service available. Breakfast was very disappointing. Very average.

Very good hotel in center location. Good breakfast. They are very helpfull with information how to get to hotel by car but you may want to consider park your car at recommended and closest parking and get ther on foot. We got there by car in two attempts, We left on foot to car at an overnight parking. Driving is a challenge there. Narrow, uphill and very hard to idetify streets. It is not about property, it is about the and car access.

Property is great, location is great but it is hard to get there by car.

Leon Bianco is an extremely nice, clean and a most comfortable hotel perfectly located facing Piazza della Cisterna, the main central square of San Gimignano. It has friendly and helpful staff and is very nicely appointed and decorated in a modern, yet traditional, style. Abundant restaurants, cafes and bars are all located just short walks from the hotel, as are numerous shops. Great value-for-money!

Nothing to complain about at all!

The location is fabulous. Right in the centre and the view from our room was over the old town to the Tuscan countryside beyond. The breakfast and the breakfast room were lovely. We didn’t try the whirlpool and the terrace but definitely plan to return so we can try them then.

We had selected a hotel with air conditioning because it has been so hot but the air conditioning in the bedroom wasn’t very effective so we didn’t sleep well due to the heat. It probably needs servicing and the coolant topping up.

The hotel was in the main square with amazing views overlooking it. The staff were very helpful with all our needs and helped us find a winery we could go all to and a beautiful country lane walk. The breakfast was fantastic!

There was a jug supplied but we had to request the tea bags at reception. I wasn’t sure of the reason for this. It was easy enough but would have been nicer to not have to ask.

I had previously stayed in Hotel Leon Blanco circa 2008, and I was happy to get a room this year. Breakfast is served at a charming covered terrace with views to the countryside. The breakfast includes a great selection of pastries, fruit juices, as well as eggs, cheeses and salamis. - I was especially grateful to Lisa, at the front desk, who arranged dinner reservations to two very good restaurants (Peruca and Ossetia da Giovanni). I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

San Gimignano is a truly lovely old town in Tuscany to explore and Leon Bianco is situated right on the main piazza. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and the staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. We'd definitely choose to stay there again. Anthony & Carol, Jervis Bay Australia

My husband and I absolutely loved this beautiful, tastefully styled room in a gorgeous, historic building. It was immaculately clean, incredibly spacious, had a stunning wooden beam ceiling, and had a lovely bathroom. Room 38 had a view overlooking the main piazza, so it was an absolutely perfect location. The windows are noise proof and so we were not at all disturbed at night during our sleep. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast on the outdoor terrace was icing on the cake! I only wish we had more time to enjoy the hotel!

Great location in the center of San Gimignano. The rooms were large and comfortable. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Fitness center and ping pong table were nice amenities. We did not have the breakfast or use the whirlpool so cannot comment on them, but overall we were very happy with our stay and would stay again.
