We felt very comfortable in the time-honored ambience of that monastery in mid-March 2023. The magnificent view from the roof terrace is spectacular, which we enjoyed every day. The central location of that accommodation is ideal for exploring both the Amalfi Coast and Naples, including Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius. Hikes are also attractive, e.g. on the well-known ‘Path of the Gods’. Unfortunately, this tour was heavily frequented in early season, already. For those who prefer a quieter environment the no less charming coast of the Sorrento Peninsula is strongly recommended, which is near. The small port of Massa Lubrense is also ideal for short boat trips to Capri. Although, we arrived Relais il chiostro much too early, we were warmly welcomed by Antonio and could check-in, immediately. Moreover, he gave us many valuable tips for dinners in the vicinity of Relais il chiostro, which all convinced us. We also enjoyed the varied breakfast served by Juicy & Arianna overlooking the courtyard planted with orange trees. Hospitality and helpfulness were exemplary throughout the stay. This was not least due to Sabrina, who is the proverbial ‘good spirit’ of Relais il chiostro. The cost/performance ratio of Relais il chiostro is fair.

It should be clear to every guest in advance that in such a hoar monastery refurbishment has reached its structural limits. This applies to the small shower, for example. Despite of my size of about 1.88 m and my weight beyond 100 kg, I was able to come to terms with these conditions.

We very much appreciated the help from Sabrina and the whole the staff. I got very ill during my stay and they helped my wife in every way to find support for me. They also helped organize a trip to Capri (though we had to cancel that). All around very nice folks. The place itself is very quaint, about a 15 minute drive from Sorrento itself. You'll want a car or moto if you're staying here. Plenty of parking spaces. There's a nice rooftop if you happen to be there during a sunset. Adjacent to the property there is a church that regularly holds services. I wandered through sacristy by mistake and nearly walked out in front of the congregation during mass. Whoops!

Like other reviews say, the shower is small. I'm a tall and relatively broad shouldered person but I had just a few inches of horizontal clearance in there. It's great otherwise though. I didn't mind it at all but some of you might, if you're on the larger side.

We loved sitting on the rooftop, sipping on our Apperol Spritzers, watching the spectacular sunsets, and listening to the distant sound of crickets and church bells. So magical. The property is charming, peaceful, and super clean. it was nice to start our day with breakfast-croissants, eggs, cappuccino’s. We had a car and appreciated all the available parking. Some of the best beaches are close by. It was a quick drive down to Nerano, where we did the beautiful hike to Baia di Leranto. Serranto was also a quick drive, and super easy to park in. Loved our stay.

This location was super nice and we liked all its appearance. The nice garden inside was so welcoming and the terrace was exceptional with a beautiful view and even service for food and drinks for the guests. We really enjoyed this. Also the staff there is so extraordinary nice and welcoming - we loved it. They helped us with everything immediately and also had nice recommendations for us. It was super convenient we could even book travels through them. What we really appreciated also was this super cute breakfast - every day different and so nicely decorated and prepared for each room. We enjoyed so much our stay.

There was a construction in the mornings. This should be temporary though and was not that disturbing - but of course it is better without.

The renovated 15th century monastery that is a turned into a hotel is a beautiful idea. The garden in the middle of the building was delightful and full of flowers. The hallway and the rooms are very nice decorated on a minimalistic style with touches of the old monastery(the wooden doors, the church benches etc). In addition the roof terrace is perfect to enjoy a beautiful sunset looking at Capri, Ischia and the whole Gulf of Naples. All in all, the hotel was very clean, the rooms small(because of being old cells of the monastery) but very cozy. The stuff is very helpful and breakfast was rich in local Delicasies. I would totally recommend it to friends for a nice couples getaway!

Everything was perfect

-nicest staff we’ve encountered in Italy! especially Sabrina who went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. even prepared us some pastries for breakfast the night before our check out since we had to leave before breakfast started. -beautiful roof top terrace with stunning view; very peaceful -great convenient tours offered through the hotel at reasonable prices -nice modern rooms

An interesting experience to sleep in a real, quasi still "working" monastry, with well equipped rooms and all the comfort you need from a good hotel, but still keeping the feeling of the original use with tight spaces and simplified furniture. Although there is still a monk living in the other part of the monastry, the church is already disfunctional, but the church bell sound in the eveneing and morning still gives you the feeling :) Facilities on the part where the hotel is are absolutely OK with quality renovation and finshes, staff is really more than helpful and enthusiastic, especially in guessing of what kind of breakfast you need (they provide everything for a decent breakfast for anyone), and how to get arround in the neighbourhoods. Free and available large parking in front (except market day - Friday) which is a huge plus on the Sorrento Peninsula. The roof terrace is also a big plus with spectacular sunset views for a glass of drink or apperitive. Perfect new gourmet restaurant right near the monastry (!), with a young ambicious chef and modern fusion food, do not go anywhere else for dinner, you'll have a perfect gastro evening (not really cheap, but really special at this price).

The interiors of the monastry part (the cloister) would be good to have some renovation, as well, but this is not the hotel's duty, I am afraid.

Everything! The accommodation is on an idyllic place, with gorgeous views to the sea! The sunset views are breathtaking. Staff was lovely and super helpful, always concerned with our comfort. The little details make a difference, like leaving umbrellas at your room entrance on a raining day. Breakfast was really good and the room beautiful and super comfortable. I will miss Tigre, the priest’s cat 😊

Nothing. I understand it can be a bit far from the beach but we had a scooter so that wasn’t a problem.

the location was fine for us as we were happy to walk a bit, and the old convent was lovely, but if you don’t have a car and have large luggage, I think it would be tricky

6 rooms in a slightly deteriorated monastery. The last monk still lives here. More authentic to spend one or two nights is impossible. Have a pizza next door at the pizzeria, you won’t regret this. When we were there: 1 monk 8 guests, Antonio who runs the place and his cat. If you want a true experience go here!!

Is it perfect?? No it is not. My shower in the morning was not that warm. Are the other complaints you can read true? Probably yes. You want a perfect soundproof box to spend the night, go to the closest Hilton. You want an experience? Go here and accept that it isn’t perfect. You will definitely enjoy!
