Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel

It was a beautiful hotel with an amazing view. We were upgraded to a balcony room with a view of Amalfi. Diego was the best bartender. He was a true mixologist and kept us entertained on rainy days. The staff was so helpful in getting us to Capri when our boat and ferry were both canceled. We absolutely will be returning as soon as we can!

Breakfast was very good (omelettes are fantastic and fresh made) and the views great, also the coffee was fab. The team do work incredibly hard and the level of attentive service is definitely 5* The views at breakfast you will never get bored of!

The tiniest of feedback as we really couldn’t fault anything but a couple items in comparison to other 5* stays ; - Cotton pads & earbuds. It would of been fab to have them in the toiletries. - Moisturiser, it would of been lovely to have had a body Acqua Di Parma moisturiser to match the other products.

We booked a deluxe room but due to low occupancy, we got an early check-in + free upgrade to their junior suite with jacuzzi in the balcony facing the sea which then made our trip a better value for money. Here is all what we liked: Excellent service: attention to detail, staff goes above and beyond to make your stay memorable, customer-oriented Additional facilities: free gym, free shuttle service to and from the harbour, great spa and delicious food in the restaurant at reasonable prices (adapted to our vegetarian needs), infinity pool with great views, souvenir shop with reasonable prices, free luggage storage before and after check out Location: Very close to the port, great views from the restaurant and rooms on 7th and 8th floors (Note: you have to climb up 180+ steps if coming on foot from the harbour but once you enter the hotel, it has an elevator access) Room: extremely clean, regular housekeeping, very comfortable beds, nice room temperature, great jacuzzi, very powerful rain effect shower, white, minimalistic interiors w/ traditional flooring Bonus: The inhouse chapel and church + ruins from the convent added a flavour of history and mystery to the place, the corridors and gardens with bougainvilleas, lemons, oranges and basil were nice to walk through. The place is so much better and higher value for money that Grotta Palazzese in Puglia.

These are not dislikes but just some suggestions for improvement: 1. The free wifi is okay for basic internet surfing but has low speed and quality if you want to stream online content/download files etc. You need to pay for a higher speed wifi (I think a high-speed and good quality wifi connection should be included in the price, without requiring a paid upgrade) 2. Breakfast buffet/menu was the same everyday - some variety on a day to day basis could make it more interesting 3. Although the shower is nice, the shower cabin is extremely small and there is hardly any space left in the cabin to maneuver at all (easy to hurt oneself). Expanding the size of shower cabins would help increase comfort. 4. Access to beach with umbrellas, beach chairs and boat rental could be a nice add-on

It is simply the prime property in Amalfi. The views are incredible and so is the staff. There is a free, regular 3-minute shuttle ride to and from town, the food in the restaurant is exceptional, and the pool must be amongst the top-10 pools in the world.

Absolutely nothing.

Initially we were placed in a room that did not reflect the photos on Booking.com, it was much smaller both inside and the outside terrace space with Jcuzzi. However, upon notifying management they moved us swiftly but one staff member did keep emphasising that nobody else had ever complained about this but ANYONE looking at the photos and looking at our room would not have been happy paying over 1000 euros a night, it was misleading and they should have just held their hands up unequivocally. The ladies on reception were however more understanding and the rest of our stay was wonderful, thank you on Particular to Marcia on the front desk.

We had the most wonderful 4 night experience at Grand Hotel Convento di Amalfi! The staff is the most welcoming, friendly & hard-working group of people. They reached out before our trip and helped plan every detail including car transfer, a lovely boat trip along the coast (a highlight), a trip to Pompeii with a lunch at a vineyard, recommendations for hiking and touring, and dinner reservations each night. We arrived at our room which overlooked the sea, including a large patio with a hot tub. The staff surprised us with a special bottle of prosecco and chocolates with a warm note to greet us. Everything was perfect! The hotel room is modern, very clean and very comfortable. It is decorated simply and cleanly but comfortable. I have to give a special shout out to Francesca Flora and Mikal! Thanks for making us feel like we were visiting family! I can't say enough about the beauty of the hotel. The grounds include an outdoor infinity pool with great bar service, a lemon tree orchard/walk, a gorgeous restaurant with a great terrace with a view. The hotel has a gym (which I didn't check out) and an outdoor gym (bikes and equipment) with the same gorgeous view. The breakfast was amazing and delicious. We ordered our breakfast to our patio each morning but I know you can go the restaurant if preferred. Thanks for making our trip special and romantic! We loved every second and will be back!

Built into a mountain with great views and excellent gardens. The pool was gorgeous and you could walk down the side of the mountain into town. The room had a good view, the bed was just okay, a little underwhelming. The staff at the restaurant were very good, the food was good, not fantastic. Everyone was warm & friendly & the value was good. Great price, beds/rooms could use some updating. One of the nights when we were having a romantic dinner, they sat a family of four next to us on the patio and the family played dice on the glass table over & over. Really ruined the whole vibe for us when these dice are crashing down on the glass right next to us. Another day we expressed interest in seeing the Blue Grotto and asked for help from the concierge. She directed us to the fairy terminal but failed to check whether or not it was open that day. It was not, so we spent an entire day going and returning to Positano & Capri when we had already been to both and had limited time in Amalfi. You can’t go wrong in Capri, but our time would have been better spent that day in Amalfi with one click of the computer from her.

Everything!! It’s one of the most beautiful settings a hotel could be- it has taken the local mountain architecture, monastery and outdoor plants into it’s beauty and worked with them. The view is amazing and the hotel itself is stunning with a beautiful scent (I even bought their diffuser!). We were gifted local soap with a handwritten poem and message as we celebrated multiple occasions and it was a really thoughtful touch we appreciated. The staff especially, Francesca, Ahmed, Eugenio and Angelo made us feel so at home. Thank you for a memorable stay- we hope to see you in the future.

The iron needs replacing as it was leaking and wet my husbands shirt. The bathroom window screen may need to be lengthened as there was leakage of water onto the floor. Both minor things that wouldn’t stop us coming back!

WOW! I had read a few negative reviews online, but I have to stay, this place completely exceeded our expectations. We got a free upgrade, which was amazing for my mom's special trip. The beds and pillows were the best of our trip, and the view over the town is simply amazing. The hotel runs a free shuttle to town, too, which is very helpful! The breakfast + dinner (we had half board) were fantastic and varied. The half board dinner includes 3 dishes in the price + bread. The actual hotel facilities are fantastic - HUGE grounds, lots to see, and endless views. AND THE POOL!!! The staff was super helpful, too. Marcello, in particular, was absolutely AMAZING at dinner - he went above and beyond to make sure we had an amazing stay.

The WiFi in the rooms to the right side of the hotel (furthest from reception) is a little weak. It went out for the last day of our stay, which was a bit inconvenient. In addition, the dinner could have been a little more varied for guests staying for longer periods of time. Otherwise, there really isn't much to complain about here.

Beautiful hotel in a fantastic location. Staff there are all incredible, very helpful and so friendly. A special mention to Flavia who went above and beyond to make our stay even more special. The food is amazing, as is the swimming pool. Facilities all excellent. Breakfast is always delicious and there's plenty of choice. Highly recommend staying there! We were upgraded to a Junior Suite with Terrace & Hot Tub. Room 510. Its very private and I highly recommend end. We also ended up extending our stay another 2 nights last minute which was lovely!

The one improvement that could be made would be to the sun loungers round the pool. They are looking a bit tired and not the most comfortable - some new more comfortable sun loungers would make this hotel 11/10!
