Castle Oaks House Hotel

We stayed here as our son was playing in the Kennedy Cup for the wk. It was close to UL so we could attend games yet we were remote enough to avoid the hustle and bustle of the city (15 min drive). The hotels setting is fabulous..with amazing forest/river trail a stone throw away. The village has everything one would need. The pool was fabulous. Whilst the bathrooms were a bit outdated they served their purpose and are part of the charm. This will be a frequented family destination for us in the future

The majority of staff were quiet young and didnt have the same curtious manner as the older staff. The bar menu is pricey for what it was and we waited for 40mins for food when we were the only customers. In the morning en route to brekkie all the chandelier lights were still on and the wall.lights and lamps. It was the same in the dining area.. i just felt it.was unnecessary waste of electricity and drew my focus from the amazing decor. I would love.to see this property reach its full potential as it is a gem . Im sure covid didnt help maintain its beauty.and i wish the owners all the best in the development of this property

We were travelling up from our County Cork home, with a small dog, and meeting up with a friend from overseas. Ireland is not always great on dog accommodations -- we were very pleased that we were given what was essentially a small apartment, with a child gate that keep the dog and his bed downstairs, and our bedrooms upstairs. Great area for walks with the pet, despite less than spectacular weather. Grounds of hotel lovely, food in the relaxed bar very yummy, staff very pleasant, situation convenient.

Our bathroom would have benefitted from an additional towel rack. Otherwise, no complaints.

My husband is working in Limerick for the next few months or more and due to the fact of lack of corporate accommodation rentals and lack of any property rentals throughout Ireland at present besides the fact we have two lovely rescue doggies we have to come as a family package. Castle Oaks House Hotel was the only hotel that is extremely pet friendly, the grounds are amazing stunning walkies beside the river my furry tailed little ones adore this hotel. and grounds and have met lots of new little furry waggy tailed friends within the grounds :) The staff at the hotel go above and beyond to be awesomely amazing they are all so very very kind, courteous, accommodating and just a joy to talk to and they always have a smile and nothing is ever to big or to small they always find a solution. They are a source of knowledge the village is just 5 mins walk away with supermarket, chemist, take aways and a few pubs with live music . Train station direct into Limerick in 20 mins and Bus stops direct into Limerick and back just outside hotel if one does not want to drive. We cannot wait to come back which infarct we are next week for the next few months my husband and dogs want to move in permanently!!!! :) Its heaven the courtyard suites are gorgeous super warm and comfortable exceptionally clean and the housekeeping staff are fabulous we really really have to stay this is this best hotel ever.... I cannot urge anyone with pets this is the best pet friendly hotel we have ever ever stayed :) The leisure facilities are out this world swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam and a sauna and the state of the art gym equipment and super friendly staff fab.

Absolutely nothing

Breakfast was lovely and the serving staff went out of their way to be as helpful as possible. The food was delicious and the continental buffet was perfect for what we wanted. The reception staff were equally as helpful. The two girls we dealt with at the desk were brilliant. They recommended the breakfast and they ordered us a taxi to a close by town. Staff were also extremely helpful via email before our stay re. making a change to the reservation. Room was spacious, comfortable and good value for money. The grounds are lovely and the pool was nice. Overall, highly recommend this hotel.

While the room was clean and spacious, it was a bit dated. The restaurant/bar downstairs seemed nice but the atmosphere was lacking - a bit of music would have helped this!

Stayed only for one night but had a pleasant stay and would stay again no doubts. We bothered the receptionist for an extension lead and got it in 5 minutes delivered by herself. Also had dinner and were served by Josephine who was taking good care of all the dinning room that evening. Saw her pouring drinks, getting orders and coming with the plates - still not making people wait on anything or forgeting anybody, amazing asset to any hotel team. I saw a wedding set up being prepared for the day after and she even went out of her way to show it to me as I was curious. Lovely lady & a beautiful function room. Will go back, no doubts.

We particularly liked the way we were looked after by Josephine and Margaret. Very friendly and clearly very hard working. The grounds and walk by the river were also lovely.

There were two things I would note. Firstly the floors in the foyer/ stairs/corridors were clearly in need of hoovering but this didn't happen over our two day stay. I would have liked a bedside lamp as the lighting in the room was poor and it wasn't good enough to read comfortably.

This was a night away with my mother and two sisters - we had one of those houses on the grounds of the hotel and it was perfect for the four of us - and much cheaper than booking two hotel rooms - plus we had the added bonus of a living room to get together in. The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Special mention to Josephine at breakfast who was incredibly friendly and helpful and clearly has a great love of the hotel and great knowledge of it's history.

I was delighted i booked this place for us and our parents is well . Amazing value buetiful place . Buetiful swimming pool warm also pool for kids and jacuzzi plus steam rooms amazing we will deffinetly come back as value was amazing we fell sorry we didn't book 2 night but only 1.. Deffinetly recommended is maybe not 5 star hotel but we did not mind because was very comfortable for us and kids and stuff were amazing helpful ❤️❤️❤️Thank u

Price of soft drink in the bar savage ... 6€ for 2 small glasses of sprite. More expensive than a glass of Guinness in my local. I couldn't drink because I was swimming afterwards. The swimming pool was ok but very busy so I couldn't swim until 8.30pm. It is in the leisure centre next door and towels were provided, I expected an on site pool at the hotel but I must have read the details wrong or assumed incorrectly that this was the case.

Easy to drive to and find in our rental car. The history and architecture added to the background feel of Ireland. Helpful notes about the residents and how the Castle came to be. Gorgeous landscaping and decor. Complimentary upgrade to a suite, with a dessert platter on welcome for our wedding anniversary.

The building is extremely old (18th century) so it comes with quirks (for instance the plumbing is very noisy; flushing would make a long moaning noise that lasted about 1 minute).
