a&o Hamburg Reeperbahn

More than friendly staff. From all kind of help and advices, to free coffee in the morning. Wifi was working like a charm and beds were comfortable. Room is totally basic, but there is all you need to sleep over and have a shower. Cleaning ladies were taking out trash and making our beds every day, which is not usual, nor expected in bnb hostel. There is nice variety of inhouse activities like 8 ball pool, tabletop football, vending machines... as well as nice office space with usb and 220v connections. ATM is placed in the lobby of hostel, and reception is run by humans 24-7. U Bahn station is less than 100m from the hostel, which is great plus as Hamburg U Bahn system is second to none, even in the times of biggest railroad strike which was ongoing when we were visiting.

We didn't have problem with location and customers, as we knew we are coming into the very heart of Hamburg red light district. So, what you can see and hear outside, as well as see in lobby and about hostel isn't for family visit and stay. You can expect to bump into ladies and boys of the night and get some indecent offers, but everybody is friendly and unintrusive. Yet, it might bother some people, so be warned you're not coming into Tropical Plaza family resort. I wouldn't bring my wife and kids here but I will certainly stay there again when I need day or two to sleepover in Hamburg.

I completly don’t understand this bad opinions. Booking one of the cheapiest hostel and expect of 4 star hotel is madness. I had seperate 2 bed room with bathrum. For this range price everything was very good. Hostel and room with toilet was clean with clean sheets and towels. Brekfast was really good. We arrived at 7 am only to leave our luggages in baggage lokcers but we got key to room without any additional cost despite check in was at 3pm. One thing what can by annoying is flat wals and our neighbour are loud we can hear that. On the weekend nights we can also hear lives on the street because it is very fun neigbourhood. To sum up me and my wife reccomend this place if you want budget accomodation option. We spent there 3 nights and every atraction in the center was within our reach by walk. I also reccoment taking the hamburg bicycle, maximum fee is 9 euro per 24hour for one bike but you can’t change on other bike. If you want a pause for food you can lock the bike. Enjoy your staying :)

Adequate hostel for the price. The single room with its bed was comfortable and spacious enough for one traveller and came with a television and a nice view over Reeperbahn. There was no disruption from other rooms which one may expect. The room was clean and well presented, and the buffet continental breakfast hours were generous and the food was varied. The atmosphere was good throughout the building. This was an excellent accommodation especially for a solo traveller.

The corridors and passageways were rather dimly lit, especially the stairways. It is worth noting if you don't know Hamburg that this is the city's red light district, with adult shops and venues around. This was no issue for me but worth considering if staying with children, and is by no means a fault of the accommodation. The staff were not excessively friendly and the receptionist who checked me in was quiet and seemingly unsure when speaking English, but suitably gave the necessary information.

After reading reviews about this place before booking my expectations were really low. Stayed here for 2 nights and it was great, better than expected, night life is just right there for you to explore, my room had a good view of the front street, it wasnt noisy at all.

The bed was not so comfortable, and the TV is attached to the wall but very high almost touching the ceiling so it was really uncomfortable to watch it. Sometimes you will see some wierd looking guys or homeless people wandering around the entrance to the hostel, I can see why some guest complain about it.

I liked the location. It's very central and fortunatetlyits winter so it was rather quiet around Reeperbahn. The facilities are modern and nice. I felt comfortable.

I was actually surprised about the amount of mold in the shower. It was the only really unhygienic thing that I saw. If this gets fixed, it's an amazing place. And the light wasn't working in the room but I didn't bother too much. There was no lift. It can be inconveniet with heavy luggage but also managable

Well, we liked having an en-suite bathroom with a bathtub and having a table & chairs so that we could eat in our room.

Well, the 3 of us felt that there should have been a grip bar placed on the wall where the bathtub was, as it is easy to slip or fall & to hurt yourself. This is very important for safety reasons and it has been overlooked. Also we had trouble closing our door, it was difficult to do.

The location is very good. It’s a big Hostel and has a good Wi-Fi quality. They provide the towel and also clean bedsheets. It’s possible to store the luggage for free. The reception is 24h open

The bed was not so confortable, but it’s fine for a couple of nights. The door of my bathroom was broken.

Very good area if you’re here for clubbing (Tresor & Berghain v close). Clean hotel and good atmosphere in the communal areas. Surprisingly good experience for the price

Food and drink (particularly alcohol) should be cheaper given this is a hostel. Spirits and lager are probably more expensive here than at nearby bars (€11 for a double v&c)

Speaking of the hotel it was quite amazing. It was clean and everything was comfortable.

But the place it's located, thats a big no. Every surroundings are red light street and the people are a lil disrespectful around tourists. I booked first a room wiz 6 people and it turned out the 5 of them are alcholist and i think they live there for ever. Then i upgraded to one single room. It was cool and comfy room.

Great value for money! Of course the room was tiny and very minimalistic, but considering the price and the location there was really nothing to complain about. I stayed there during the week, so I can't tell you what it is like during peak partying times, but when I was there my sleep wasn't interrupted by any loud noises (although my room was facing the Reeperbahn) and I felt safe the entire time (femal solo traveller). I would definitely book it again!
